For my duck feet shaped feet these shoes are darn near perfect! Zero drop, enough cushion like the original Altra Instincts, spacious toe box, great styling, the sheepskin upper feels as great (and odorless) as Soft Star shoes. With an outsole durability/longevity of Vibram rubber. Some nice touches of reflectivity for low light runs. I just got done running five miles in these sockless and the shoes do not stink! I gave them four stars out of five for comfort because I realized for my foot shape I can only run sockless for about three miles. After that I was developing a small blister on my pinky toe. That was just for one foot though. It was warm for this morning's cold drizzly day just north of Seattle. But not so warm that my feet were drenched and that the shoes were drenched when I took the shoes off and felt inside. In fact they were barely even damp. Crazy! These are good shoe! They are definitely worth it. I am liking the fact that I have heard people have logged in over 1,000 miles in these shoes. Oh and they are stylish enough for casual outings. My wife loves the look!

I wrote an earlier review about how great these shoes looked when I took them out of the box. Today, I used them for the first time at the gym. I am so impressed. I feel so connected with my feet - almost as I would if I were barefoot. Of course, they felt "different" when I was doing weighted squats and I thought a lot about my feet during the workout. Because I know how much guess work can go into finding the right shoes via Zappos, I want to share that my opinion that these are definitely worth a try.

Have not yet worn these to the gym but they are surely the most beautiful athletic shoes I've ever owned. I value function over style, but after taking these out of the box and seeing how good they look, I was thrilled when they also fit. I do weight-lifting and a minimal sole/heel was recommended to me so I'm hoping these are as good for my deadlifts and squats as they look. Recently I've been wearing Saucony Mirage 4.

These shoes are for people who want to try minimalist running. I made the mistake of putting them on and going on a 2 mile run right away and boy was that a mistake! If you get these, you need to wear them for a few weeks before you even think about running in them. And even after that you will need to build up running with them 1 mile at a time before you go on a regular 5k or more. But once you get used to them, you will wish you had bought them sooner! They totally get you to run like nature designed you to run in the first place.

I bought a pair of these Skora Phase shoes (even though I've had great luck with my two pairs of Merrell Road Gloves), because I wanted a change and can't find the Road Glove on Zappos. I loved the style and fit of the Skora Phase, but ended up returning them. The extra padding at the top of the heel pushed on my upper heel and proved to be distracting and uncomfortable. When wearing them, I was very aware I was wearing shoes, which is unfortunate for a pair of barefoot kicks. Besides that one irritant (for me), they were great shoes. Maybe a half size larger would have helped?

These shoes are so comfortable. Since switching over to zero drop shoes (these and Zero Barefoot) the years of often intense and lingering pain with my sciatic nerve have completely gone away! Fabulous!

Right out of the box this shoe is ready to go! I bought the Skora Phase for a few reasons. First off the color was amazing! I am a pink person and they don't disappoint with the brightness. Secondly, I work all day on my feet and needed a shoe that was lightweight and wouldn't rub or pinch on my feet throughout the day. I have wide feet and was worried that these would be too tight across the toe box. I have had no rubbing, pinching, or aches and pains from wearing the Skora Phase. Very happy with this purchase!

Love these shoes. Use them for casual wear and working out (weight lifting/jumping rope). I don't run in them. Fit is just right. Definitely minimalist. I forget I'm wearing shoes. They look good.

Best shoes ever! I only wear minimalist shoes now - I have since Merrell introduced them 3 or so years ago. Totally changed my life, no more foot pain. But these are better than Merrells! I just wore these shoes - and only these shoes - for a two-week trip to Turkey. They were comfortable on airplanes and in airports, felt great walking over rocks and ruins, and looked nice too. (In kind of a euro style. Dress shoes they are not.) The soles show no wear at all, which has been Merrells' drawback - those vibram soles do develop holes after a few months. The Skoras just seem thicker or harder, though still very flexible. My new favorites!

I ordered a pair of these, and the piece that holds the lace ripped off the shoe when I laced them up. I was disappointed and ordered a second pair, but they did the same thing.

For barefoot shoes, the soles have traction lugs that are much too large for walking on any sort of firm ground you just feel like you are walking on a pile of tangled cables, which I find unstable and uncomfortable.

Tried six other pairs of leisure shoes to find perfection! Eureka. Finally a shoe I don't want to take off. Arch support is perfect for me. I find some arch; supports too extreme. This has it, but not annoyingly. I have neuropathy and balance problems so shoes are critical to me. The last thing I want to sacrifice is fashion. These have a cool factor that's bound to get comments. From the oil slick iridescent heels to the reflective trim and the supple goat skin body these shoes are fabulous. I hesitated at the white; but in person, with all the grey, these don't read as an all white shoe...more like a neutral pearl grey. I love them! Thank you Zappos, and for your superb customer service. Ordered yesterday, I'm wearing them today.

I like "zero drop/minimalist" shoes, I've have a pair of saucony hittori shoes for a couples years--they are finally wearing out. I usually run 12+ miles a week and racing etc. I literally got the Skora Phase-X from the UPS man as I was leaving for a 6mile training run. I put them on from the box, felt they were very comfortable and did the run(pavement and a little trail) without issue. I had tried on a couple different Altras' prior to the Skora but they did not work for me. So far, I like the Skora shoes. Hope this review helps. (As with all running shoes, sizes vary from brand to brand--originally ordered a 10 but had to reorder for 9.5 in the Skora--and Zappos was great with the return and reordering).

My first minimalist shoe. Tried an Altra trail, and also Vivo Barefoot One. This shoe fit the best in my normal running shoe size and definitely had the widest toe box.

I love this shoe! The moment I tried them on I knew I had finally found something that I would keep. This shoe is advertised as a great shoe for running, but I wanted a great minimalist shoe for walking and general wear that was similar to my "barefoot" shoes. Something that allowed my toes to stretch and allowed me to strengthen my feet (and balance) without being bound so tightly. These shoes are perfect. They are as comfortable as slippers and allow the wearer to grip the floor/ground. I have plantar fasciitis and love that these shoes feel good on my feet. I will definitely purchase another pair when I need them.

Love these shoes! I'm not a big runner but decided to get my first pair of "minimalist" shoes - to help train for my half marathon coming up in three months. The first day I went running, I happened to get stuck in the middle of central park trapped in an isolated thunderstorm and my feet were completely dry! They are also the most comfortable pair of lightweight shoes I've ever had before. Love the design too and everywhere I go I got compliments for the colors. I usually wear a 9 in Nike, but these I ordered an 8.5 and there was still plenty of room in the toebox, so I would suggest ordering a half size smaller than your normal sneaker size.

I am VERY picky about my shoes. The minimalist/zero drop/no padding movement has been a godsend for me, especially because of my wide toes, high arches, and bad knees. I can now run and exercise comfortably without injuring joints. This is my first exposure to Skora (I used Merrel Vibram's before), and I think Skora is the evolution of the barefoot/minimalist philosophy. I seriously believe everyone should exercise in these. They're very comfortable, don't have any awkwardly fitting areas, they flex enough for my odd feet but still fit snugly (is it the unorthodox shoelace placement?) and are a good shape for probably anyone. I am a believer in short runs and can't vouch for these working in long marathon runs. I think padded shoes would be necessary for something like that. I use these for crossfit and 5Ks and love them best of all the shoes I've ever had.

This is a brand to keep your eyes on. First, it is hard to take your eyes off these shoes. Second, they fit great. Third, they are fun and comfortable to run in. I do my speedwork on the track and hills with them. The traction is superb, though they feel a little hard under the ball of my foot at times. The heel set up is ideal - I do not know why they thought it would work, but it does. I can keep my balance with no problem while doing deep squats in them. Now I am looking forward to running in the dark.

I absolutely love these running shoes. I love Zappos even more! I purchased a woman's size 9 and sent them back for an 8½. Zappos took care of the exchange before I even shipped back the size 9! Both shipments arrived within two days of original order/exchange. These shoes are comfortable, light, and stylish. They are well worth the money!

Absolutely fantastic, minimal, zero drop, zero arch, flexible soled shoes. I've worn them casually. I've run in them. I hope they hold up well, because I'm thrilled! Fluorescent red isn't my first color choice for anything, but overall the shoes look nice.

I've tried lots of minimal shoes over the past 5 or so years, and I'd say the Core is probably in my top 5, maybe top 3, best shoes of all time: * Zero drop. Lots of shoemakers that were on the minimal bandwagon have gone back to producing shoes with a raised heel. Zero drop, in my experience, is a key aspect of a good shoe. * Reasonable stack height. With lots of shoe makers going back to 20+mm stack heights, Skora keeps it reasonable. Without the insoles, this shoe is 8mm, just about right to offer a little bit of cushion and protection while still keeping you low enough to the ground for proper form. * Great flexibility. The upper and outsole of this shoe have some decent structure to them but still the shoe remains very flexible in all directions. * Nice materials. The leather upper is amazingly high quality, and keeps getting better with break in. The outsole rubber is just right: firm enough to offer some protection and durability, but soft enough to be flexible and offer good ground feel. * Nice width. The forefoot, though it looks narrow, is actually decently wide. The feel through the midfoot and into the heel is just right. * Great versatility. I like a shoe that I can use for road and trail, long and short, etc. This is one of the few shoes I've found that can do it all. I can wear these sockless, no insole, with a sock, sock and insole, etc. depending on how much cushion or protection I need for the specific run. I do find the fit better (i.e. looser) without the insole. * Lightweight. This shoe weighs a lot less than I'd expect it to given the leather and reasonably dense outsole. They've left out most of the silly padding that so many shoes are sporting now: thank you! A few minor negatives: * Breathability is decent but suffers a bit because, well, the upper is leather. Kind of hard to fault the shoe for that, and it isn't a deal killer. * Rounded heel. I don't necessarily dislike this, but it takes some getting used to. With good form, though, you don't notice it at all when running. * Style. I know some people like neon and wacky colors. I wish there was a simpler color scheme available when I got mine (gray but with the silver heel and the neon green sole). Not a huge deal, I don't buy shoes for fashion, but I like them so much that I'd probably wear them even more (as a casual shoe) if they came in... black.
