Love these lightweight shoes. They are close to being barefoot-I don't wear socks with them. They don't have a lot of support but have a great soul so I wear them for walking.

As barefoot running shoes these fit the bill. They are super light and flexible and the sole is shaped like an anatomical foot. I also love that I don't feel like a total dork wearing them. Meaning, they are really beautiful shoes. They are also comfortable enough to wear without socks, which I prefer. The downside of these shoes is, they run pretty wide. Even though I have narrow-ish feet, I like having a wide toe-box for foot splay, but for these to be laced snugly the mesh had to be crinkled up, which kind of ruined the beautiful mesh. Also, the heel has this weird ball thing on the sole, making it feel like I was always stepping on something. Something hard. Something not friendly to the bare foot. All in all, I really wanted to like these shoes and keep them, but if you have narrow-ish feet like me they probably aren't going to work for you. For the record, I usually wear an 8.5 in most running shoes. I got an 8 in these and they are still way too wide, although the length is perfect. Totally bummed.

These shoes are very well built. Incredible durability coupled with awesome sensitivity makes these shoes a must own for minimalist type runners. Also, if you have never ordered from Zappos, do yourself a favor and do so. The service is second to none, only place to shop in my opinion.

My foot has a narrow heel and a wide forefoot, unlike most men, as well as with high arches. The shoes fit perfectly, seem well-made, and are good looking. My only concern is the lack of cushioning, which I noticed on some floor machines, but that is partly why I bought the shoes, so it is not really a complaint.

For my duck feet shaped feet these shoes are darn near perfect! Zero drop, enough cushion like the original Altra Instincts, spacious toe box, great styling, the sheepskin upper feels as great (and odorless) as Soft Star shoes. With an outsole durability/longevity of Vibram rubber. Some nice touches of reflectivity for low light runs. I just got done running five miles in these sockless and the shoes do not stink! I gave them four stars out of five for comfort because I realized for my foot shape I can only run sockless for about three miles. After that I was developing a small blister on my pinky toe. That was just for one foot though. It was warm for this morning's cold drizzly day just north of Seattle. But not so warm that my feet were drenched and that the shoes were drenched when I took the shoes off and felt inside. In fact they were barely even damp. Crazy! These are good shoe! They are definitely worth it. I am liking the fact that I have heard people have logged in over 1,000 miles in these shoes. Oh and they are stylish enough for casual outings. My wife loves the look!

These shoes are for people who want to try minimalist running. I made the mistake of putting them on and going on a 2 mile run right away and boy was that a mistake! If you get these, you need to wear them for a few weeks before you even think about running in them. And even after that you will need to build up running with them 1 mile at a time before you go on a regular 5k or more. But once you get used to them, you will wish you had bought them sooner! They totally get you to run like nature designed you to run in the first place.

These shoes are so comfortable. Since switching over to zero drop shoes (these and Zero Barefoot) the years of often intense and lingering pain with my sciatic nerve have completely gone away! Fabulous!

I like "zero drop/minimalist" shoes, I've have a pair of saucony hittori shoes for a couples years--they are finally wearing out. I usually run 12+ miles a week and racing etc. I literally got the Skora Phase-X from the UPS man as I was leaving for a 6mile training run. I put them on from the box, felt they were very comfortable and did the run(pavement and a little trail) without issue. I had tried on a couple different Altras' prior to the Skora but they did not work for me. So far, I like the Skora shoes. Hope this review helps. (As with all running shoes, sizes vary from brand to brand--originally ordered a 10 but had to reorder for 9.5 in the Skora--and Zappos was great with the return and reordering).

I've tried lots of minimal shoes over the past 5 or so years, and I'd say the Core is probably in my top 5, maybe top 3, best shoes of all time: * Zero drop. Lots of shoemakers that were on the minimal bandwagon have gone back to producing shoes with a raised heel. Zero drop, in my experience, is a key aspect of a good shoe. * Reasonable stack height. With lots of shoe makers going back to 20+mm stack heights, Skora keeps it reasonable. Without the insoles, this shoe is 8mm, just about right to offer a little bit of cushion and protection while still keeping you low enough to the ground for proper form. * Great flexibility. The upper and outsole of this shoe have some decent structure to them but still the shoe remains very flexible in all directions. * Nice materials. The leather upper is amazingly high quality, and keeps getting better with break in. The outsole rubber is just right: firm enough to offer some protection and durability, but soft enough to be flexible and offer good ground feel. * Nice width. The forefoot, though it looks narrow, is actually decently wide. The feel through the midfoot and into the heel is just right. * Great versatility. I like a shoe that I can use for road and trail, long and short, etc. This is one of the few shoes I've found that can do it all. I can wear these sockless, no insole, with a sock, sock and insole, etc. depending on how much cushion or protection I need for the specific run. I do find the fit better (i.e. looser) without the insole. * Lightweight. This shoe weighs a lot less than I'd expect it to given the leather and reasonably dense outsole. They've left out most of the silly padding that so many shoes are sporting now: thank you! A few minor negatives: * Breathability is decent but suffers a bit because, well, the upper is leather. Kind of hard to fault the shoe for that, and it isn't a deal killer. * Rounded heel. I don't necessarily dislike this, but it takes some getting used to. With good form, though, you don't notice it at all when running. * Style. I know some people like neon and wacky colors. I wish there was a simpler color scheme available when I got mine (gray but with the silver heel and the neon green sole). Not a huge deal, I don't buy shoes for fashion, but I like them so much that I'd probably wear them even more (as a casual shoe) if they came in... black.

These are my favorite running shoes! Seriously! I'm training for a half marathon and despite being a shoe hoarder, these are the ones I grab every time! They last for years. Well beyond the typical 100 miles lifespan of running shoes, 10 times that or more. These have more support/cushion than other Skora models so I find for long runs, especially on pavement, that I really like that extra oomph. I did put "no arch support" because these are a minimal/barefoot style running shoe. The toebox is roomy so you don't have squished toes and your feet can hit the ground as they are meant to. These shoes help to retrain you to run with correct form. I can't say enough positive things about these (other than they need more color combos, and the mens should go down to size 6.5 so I can order their color schemes too!)

These are a must have for people who run early morning or late at night. Your feet literally come alive in the Phase-X! They are like glo worms! As someone who runs long before the sun even comes up, I truly appreciate the safety feature built into these fabulous shoes! I selected "no arch support" because these are minimal style shoes, there isn't a lot of padding/cushion. They help to encourage you to run they way that you are supposed to, with correct form. They come with an insole that can be worn either in the shoe or taken out and worn without it. I have several pairs of Skoras and these I do wear with socks.

An outstanding shoe that screams quality as soon as you open the box. The upper of the shoe molds to your foot which creates a perfect fit that is ultra comfortable. In addition, the shoe is incredibly versatile as it feels at home on the road, the trail, or even the treadmill. Outside of running, the shoe can work very well with casual clothing (provided you have the right colorway, of course). It is a very durable and long lasting shoe (I have friends who have put hundreds upon hundreds of miles on these shoes) that is worth every penny you pay for it and then some. NOTE: The review is going to mark this as "poor support" - but that's not really the case. This shoe is a minimalistic shoe - and the entire point is for it to not be "built up" so much. It's NOT a negative.
