I bought these for my husband and he was so excited to finally get to use clips. He loves them and wears them almost everyday when mountain biking. He wears a 9 to 9 1/2 and we had to return a size 43 (they were a little too tight in width) for a 44, which fit him perfectly.

These are great, straight-forward cycling shoes. It's very easy to install the cleats and they breath great. Your feet might get cold while biking in cold weather, so I would recommend getting the next size up if you will need to wear some think socks. I would also say these are not the shoes you want to wear if you are going to do a ton of walking off the bike. They're fine for a short stroll, but anything over .5 miles is likely going to get annoying because they are a bit stiff in the toe box.

I love these. They are very comfortable. Yes they are pretty stiff, but still walkable. I would not walk miles in them though. They are very breathable, great for hot days or long rides. I use these every day for at least two hours.

Great shoe. Very comfortable. Only thing that confused me was the sizing method. A 40 is not a US size 6.7. Even the Zappos rep was confused, but told me to go with the US size.

About Shimano
Though Shimano America has grown from its modest office staffed by only three people to a full distribution center with sales and marketing offices, the goals are the same: to ensure that Shimano® always has a listening ear to provide feedback on relevant trends and needs and make it a reality for their customers.
Shimano® invented SPD recessed cleat and pedal technology, which revolutionized the industry. The unique systems-engineered shoe/pedal combinations - only from Shimano® - enhanced power-transfer even more. A few years later the efficiencies were applied to the road systems with the development of SPD-SL technology. Less wasted movement, even distribution of power across the pedal and increased comfort. Simply more power from you to the bike.
Shimano's participation extends much further than its products. Through advocacy programs, ISO 14001 certification and even commuter/car pool programs for their employees, Shimano® is committed to minimizing their impact on the environment.

Bought these for indoor cycling as they say in the specs. I like them, but they are a bit big, even though the US size listed was a smaller than I usually get in other shoes. I love comfortable, semi-normal looking biking shoes like these and think they would be OK outside as well, but you would have to be careful not to catch the lace in the chain ring, something that the top Velcro strap in other biking shoes with laces helps to control.
Brands I'd also recommend: Specialized

Well constructed, I will use just for commuting, but I expect for mountain biking they would hold up well. My first pair of clip less shoes. I liked the little elastic lace holder thingy after I figured out what it was for! Pretty comfortable to walk in, but recessed cleats still make contact with floor a bit.

I tried a Pearl Izumi touring shoe that was easier to walk in but was too tight for my feet. This Shimano was still a little tight but made it through a 6-day bike tour that included a good but of walking at tourist sites with no pain or problems. The sole is very stiff and the shoe would slip on my heel when I walked (no problems on the bike) but it didn't cause any blisters. There is no velcro strap but there is an elastic band to control the laces which worked. This shoe provides a reasonable compromise for on and off-bike use.

Excellent shoes for spin cycling! It really pays to use the right equipment! Interest in shoe was spurred by pains in knees and feet from cycling with tennis shoes (bad idea!); once I started with Shimanos, all pain disappeared, and cycling was actually pleasant! Greatest attribute, aside from comfort, is sturdy "platform" that keeps your foot from bending on the pedal. A very comfortable shoe that's well made. Now if only Shimano could come up with a seat cushion!

This shoe is one of the very, very few that work with old style basket toe clips. Delivery was prompt. If you need an inbetween size, use the next larger size as they run a little small. My foot is hard to fit and this work very well with thin socks.

Although I'm a pretty serious road rider I like a casual shoe that I can walk around on. Shoes feel/look good, I use them with cleats installed. I'm in Florida and wanted good ventilation which is what I got. I'm a 43 in all my other shoes, but needed a 44 for this Shimano.

These shoes are a bit heavy but I knew that when I purchased them. A few extra ounces doesn't really matter to me. I would buy them again. Quick shipping from Zappos!

Comfortable, lightweight. Sizes are close. I wear an 11 went with the 11.2 or 46 in their sizes. My feet are a little wider than a D but the shoe has a little give.
Brands I'd also recommend: Don't know.

For whatever reason, I really like the style of these biking shoes. I loathe those shoes that are so space-age high tech. These are great shoes. I use them for all my biking. The shoes fit perfectly and they are made to be able to walk around, even though there are bike pedal cleats on them. I love that.

I wear a size 8D. I could barely get the size 42 on (8.3). The size 43 (8.9) was hardly bigger. Rather heavy and otherwise well designed except for that ridiculous spur on the heel.
Brands I'd also recommend: Check out some of the other Shimano shoes.
