More than I expected. These were super comfortable out of the box, and light weight. I have won them everyday. I live in the mountains and work in the city, have gone through two storms over a foot each. My feet have stayed dry and warm. It goes without saying that Zappos is the best!

These are great shoes. They are comfortable with little break-in needed. I have worn through several pairs of Vasque Sundowners and grew tired of the Skywalk soles splitting. These boots obviously are not full leather like the Vasques, so how they hold up over time will be interesting.

As some have said, this is a shoe for low-volume feet. I usually wear a 9 1/2, and I ordered a 10. Glad I did. Perhaps the real issue is that the shoe is built for low volume feet. Otherwise, great shoe so far. Have worn them in wet, as well as snowy conditions; no issues.
Brands I'd also recommend: If you need a more heavy duty boot, recommend Lowa Ranger.

I needed a new boot for work and previously had a heavy steel toe boot which was pretty worn out. Luckily the steel toe requirement isn't there anymore and I could venture out and get a hiking boot (which is what I would normally like to wear). I saw a lot of great reviews on this boot and decided to give them a shot. One word: Awesome. These boots are the real deal. They fit great, the laces snug them right to your foot nicely, there is great tread, and they keep your foot pretty warm and DRY. Highly recommended.

Awesome boot. Very comfortable straight out of the box barely any breaking needed. I use Superfeet insoles so I cant really say anything about the arch support although the original insoles looked really good.

These boots were comfortable right out of the box. I had to order an 11.5 size even though I\'m a 10.5 normally. There are no pressure points. The sole insert is better than most. My foot is well secured and doesn\'t slip on the footbed. The waterproof interior makes the boot a little warm, but it\'s not problematic. Overall, the boot is stable, very comfortable and is well made.

I already owned Scarpa boots prior to purchasing this pair from Zappos & will continue to stick with Scarpa. I hike a lot and their boots can't be beat for comfort and durability. I have found I need to order a full size larger than my normal shoe size to avoid toe jam, but the boots fit perfect a size up! I did try ordering my normal size from Zappos, but ended up returning them for the 10.5. Zappos service is fantastic; they sent the larger pair overnight and I had them for my planned hike on the weekend.

Nice boot. I had to return them because I needed a half size larger. My foot is size 12 and I needed a 12.5 in this boot. If you are buying hiking boots, they must fit well. It will hurt if your toes hit the front of the boot. (We all know that.)

Best boot you will ever buy, but make sure you get a 1/2 size larger or try it on before you go. Also Zappos has a great return policy if it does not fit.

I originally purchased these in my normal loafer size, which was about one size too small. I would suggest going one size larger than your shoe size as they run small.\r\n\r\nI took these up to Banff, AB after wearing them just for a few days. They required virtually no break-in period and were extremely comfortable for my trip and hikes. The Scarpa\'s kept my feet dry and comfortable and provided superb grip even on the Columbia Icefields. They are probably the best day hiking shoe for people who need smaller sizes.\r\n\r\nI have to compliment Zappos on their customer service. They were able to exchange these for the larger size after I bought the smaller first pair within 3 days, so I had them in plenty of time before my trip.

I have a predecessor to this model, the ZG40 series 3yrs ago. Same last and fit. Scarpa knew they were on to something b/c they've stayed with it. The older ZG40 is not GORE-TEX and almost all leather. This boot is more supportive than it looks. Excellent ankle support (high ankle). Durable, can easily haul med loads. Have covered many miles from west TX desert to CO 14ers. To me it behaves like a med-weight boot but feels like a lightweight. If the sole on my current pair would wear out, I'm getting another pair. I'm a pretty standard size 11 running shoe, I wear med-thick socks and have a medium volume foot, I use a 44 in both pair of Scarpa (the other is an mt/heavy boot) I have.

Surprise! Lost among a sea of choices and reviews, I didn't know where to turn as I looked for a new pair of hiking shoes. Too many shoes that I took off the shelf felt like cement blocks. I was wearing out a pair of Rockports. A pair of Vasque Sundowners, they were handsome shoes, but heavy and stiff and I just couldn't seem to break them in and reach a degree of real comfort. Then an acquaintance, just getting into hiking, recommended Scarpa's which he had happened upon at random. Not certain whether I needed a size 8 or an 8.5, I ordered both sizes from Zappos. The 8 was too tight-fitting, but the 8.5 was as close to perfect as I could imagine in a hiking shoe. Snug, but not tight; stable, but not stiff; light-weight, but rugged at the same time. I like the lacing - no crimping behind the toes. The appearance? The color is okay and well, after all, these are hiking shoes and not fancy loafers. Hear me for Scarpas! The style I have is the Kailash (named for a sacred and therefore unscaled mountain in the Himalayas).
Brands I'd also recommend: A friend of mine is quite satisfied with her Asolo hiking shoes.

Great fit. I first got the Kayland Zephyr and really like the look of them but the toes got too narrow and hurt my feet, I had never had a problem like that before. I've heard so much about the Kailash that I tried it and I'm glad I did. Feel and fit are excellent. I've been very pleased with this boot and highly recommend it.

Great medium weight backpacking boots - I read a review in Backpacker magazine that the Scarpa Kailash boots were the best and they were right. I was a great fan of Vasque Sundowners, but they no longer make a narrow boot, what a shame. I have done Scouting for years and cannot tell you how many endorsements I have made for Sundowners, but no more. The Scarpa Kailish's were comfortable right out of the box and very stable. They have become my go to boot and I am going to be happy to promote these boots to the hundreds of Scouts and Scouters I make hiking/backpacking presentations to. Zappos is the best for ordering shoes, if you have already tried them on before and know what you are looking for, avoids sending the shoes/boots back if they don't fit. I have ordered a number of shoes from Zappos and have always been satisfied with their customer service.

Initially seemed good - I got these, 2 Asolos (Fugitive and TPS 520), and the Montrail Torres. After just trying them on and walking around the house, these are definitely the best fit. The heel slips a little for me, but when I put in my Superfeet from my running shoes, the slippage becomes very minimal. Someone else commented that this shoe was especially narrow. It actually squeezes my pinky toe less than the Asolos or Montrails. I wear a 12 ½ running shoe, and the 13 for this boot seems to fit. Zappos ran out of the 12 ½, so I wasn't able to try it. Perhaps it would fix the heel slippage without the Superfeet.

Quality boot. After two weeks I think this is a great boot. A couple of days to break in but are getting more comfortable by the day. They are light weight but provide good support with my 40# pack. Quality is top notch and fit is true to size. My only complaint is I would like more arch support but I plan to try some superfeet insoles. All in all a great boot.

Out-of-the-box comfort - I wore these boots to work several times to break them in, but it proved unnecessary; there were no hot spots and they just felt good all day from the first time I wore them. Lightweight, yet supportive enough to handle cross-country backpacking trips with a thirty-pound pack.

Great mid-weight hiker. I ordered these boots from magazine recommendations and am very happy with my purchase. I did replace the manufactures insole with a green REI insole cut to size which seemed to give my instep a little better support. Break in consisted of wearing them two days at work and two short day hikes close to home. They worked extremely well while carrying a 40 pound pack on a 18 mile loop hike in the Wind River Mountain range in both wet and dry conditions. There was no heel slip, no hot spots, and no blisters. The sole seemed to slip a bit on very wet granite, but otherwise this is a solid and lightweight boot I would recommend for someone carrying a medium weight load.
