    Saucony ProGrid™ Peregrine Reviews

The Saucony ProGrid Peregrine trail running shoe is a nice product extension to the ProGrid Kinvara running shoe an entry level minimalist shoe. The Carbon rubber outsole provides decent grip, weighing in at 10 ounces, though not as sticky as the ProGrid Xodus 2.0 Vibram sole at 14 ounces. The Peregrine, a lower profile, lighter weight trail running shoe in my opinion is definitely worth checking out if this is the style of shoe you prefer. The Xodus I use more as a summer hiking trail shoe.

Great shoe! I bought it because I wanted to try a minimal shoe on the trails. To my surprise, it doesn't even feel like a trail shoe at all! It was very flexible and a soft ride. I'm looking forward to putting more miles on them!

Very nice shoes. Got these 2 days before my 10K trail run. Broke them in nicely. The terrain ran the gamut, from gravel, soft dirt, hard bedrock to very big rocks and everything in between. These shoes handled it all, great! I am 6'2 at 200lbs. My footing never slipped going uphill and stayed gripped to the floor when bailing downhill at full speed! However, they are true to size, for me. so perhaps you may want to grab a half size bigger. Arch support was good enough for me to have a great run and not have any foot discomfort. Nonetheless, I love these shoes and will eventually get me another pair. I have a whole new found respect for trail running and will be making the trails an integral part my running schedule.

Read the reviews and watch the you tube video reviews for this shoe. This is an excellent trail racing/running shoe! Light, fast, cushioned, lots of grip and fits like a glove. They feel like they are molded to your foot and your heel stays locked in place. I did a technical trail race straight out of the box and they performed flawlessly in slick conditions on rocky rooted single-track with steep climbs and downhills. Very happy I decided to give these a try.

Having owned the Kinvaras, and liked them for road running, I wanted to try these for the trails, since they are supposedly the trail version of the Kinvaras. They did not disappoint. In fact, these are excellent in just about every way. Extremely comfortable, low heel to toe drop (4 mm), great sole with excellent traction and protection, good solid upper. The only thing i would like to see different if they update these at some point is a little more room in the toe box area, both in height and width. Highly recommended if you're looking for a lightweight, low profile trail running shoe!

I have had these shoes for a month. Having enjoyed road racing in Saucony Kinvara the next step was the Peregrine minimalist trail shoes. I put about 15 miles of trail running with good results. Next was the real test. Ran a triathlon in heavy rain. The Peragrines did there thing, no slipping on rocks, no clogging with mud, Good support. I'm sold on them!

I have used these shoes exclusively for trail running. I love the outsole and midsole. The tread is grippy without being too bulky. The midsole is stiff, but allows you to feel the trail. I have narrow feet and for me, there is too much volume in the upper. I have to lace the shoes fairly tightly to prevent my foot from moving laterally. I ended up lacing the lower portion tightly, then putting a surgeon's knot to keep them from slipping before lacing the upper portion more loosely. The heel fit well. I don't find them to be the most attractive shoes in the world, but who cares, they’re trail running shoes.

I love these shoes! I was running in New Balance for 10 years. I was having some knee pain, and thought it was from 26 years of running finally catching up to me. I tried these shoes based on the reviews, and on my first run with these my knee hurt less than it had in 6 months! They provide great cushioning, good traction on dirt/gravel trails, good arch support (which was lacking in the New Balance trail shoes). My only suggestion would be to have widths, I find the toebox a bit tight. I had to size up half a size to fit my orthodics. If you are on the fence about buying these, you should do it!

Great trail runners. They are light and fast. Great protection. You will like these if you use the Kinvara. The reason for the 4 stars is both soles bunched forward on my last run. This may have been due to the excessive sweat and bad socks I used.

When I first pulled them out of the box I was skeptical that a shoe this light would offer enough protection for trail running. I have been running in them for 4 weeks now while training for HTC-2011 and very pleased with the performance, fit and function. Not recommended for rough rocky trails but great shoe for every thing else when it comes to trail running. Very fast and light shoe, great traction, clean and snag free exterior.

Great trail shoe. Use it for running rocky, sandy dusty trails/roads in Afghanistan and they are stable, comfortable, light and have good traction. Read another review that they run a half size too big. Don't believe it - they run true to size. I placed my order half size smaller because of that comment, now I have a shoe that's a half size too small.

This shoe is bad to the bone. The first time out it felt maybe too rigid for me, but now after 5 or 6 long trail runs, this baby sticks to all surfaces, but I do find it clogs with mud easily, but doesn't seem to affect their grip. Great shoe, love it.

This is my first pair of Saucony's and I am honestly impressed. They fit like a glove around your foot and have an amazing grip. I took them on a trip to Colorado and did most of my hiking with these shoes. I felt very confident when going down inclines or landing on smooth rocks that they would hold me in place. They are also very light and all the material has a good quality feel to it. I'm now using them to run about 20 trail miles per week and have found nothing bad about these shoes.

First - Sauconys run a half-size smaller than listed. Period. Second, I agree with other reviewer's comments that these shoes provide great underfoot protection for the weight and bulk of the construction. I've used these as day hikers on extremely rocky trails in the Taos area, and they provide both protection against sharp rocks, have very good up and downhill traction, while allowing tactile response. On trails that aren't all sharp rocks, these would be great runners, depending on your foot geometry.

These are, without question, the best shoes I have ever bought. My first foray into the minimalist trend was back in March when I bought a pair of Kinvaras. Once I put about 50 miles on those, I realized how fast they were wearing out, but I loved them nonetheless. These though, take the comfort of the Kinvara, add a lot of durability. They sacrifice a teensy bit of lightness, and give, what I believe is, one of the, if not thee, most comfortable shoes out there. They are not quite as minimalist as the Kinvara, as I believe I am striking more further back, but they are amazing, super comfortable, very good looking runners. The Peregrines will be a mainstay in my running gear for years to come!

I use this shoe for daily hour walks. It is comfortable both on pavement or dirt paths. I'm not a fan of the wild colors and patterns in shoes these days and this is one of the more conservative styles available. The shoe runs small for the size shown so I'd advise ordering at least 1 size or 1 1/2 sizes larger than you normally would.

These shoes are great for trails and I wear them a lot in the gym, and all day at work. They are very light and the fabric panels are very breathable. For their lightness, I found the sole to be pretty rigid, - I feel that the sole treads are almost like cleats - in fact, I wore them to play softball on astroturf last night and they gripped the turf extremely well. I recently ran three miles in them on the street and found the impact to be much harsher than I expected. I can't knock them for this, since they aren't really designed for the road.
