Wow, think I have found my "sole" mate! This shoes finds the ideal balance between minimalist shoes and old school heavier shoes. Low to the ground but with enough cush for long runs it eats up miles. The carbon fiberglass forefoot plate provides great protection against rock impacts for such a relatively thin midsole too. Really aggressive tread provides awesome traction on the gnarlier surfaces but doesn't seem to add much weight. If it fits, you will love it!

Comfortable, true to size, breathable, with an aggressive tread pattern. The bottom also has a thin sheet of carbon fiber to prevent rocks from puncturing the sole. The laces have elastic in them which is nice for when your feet expand over the course of the day. I've been using these for all day hikes and they're perfect. The heel cup is comfortable and sturdy, and the midfoot area is angled perfectly to minimize heel strikes.

I ran my first 100 mile ultra in my Peregrine 3's. I had been using a couple other shoes for a long time, but felt I needed something lighter with a more nimble feel as well as structurally solid. That is exactly what I found in the Peregrine. I completed my 100 from start to finish with only some minor issues after 70 miles. I had some minor heel chaffing on my right foot. But this kind of thing is expected after running 20 hours straight. I just got my new Peregrine 4's from Zappos and I think they're even better. They seem a little more stiff and have a great rock plate for under foot protection. I would highly recommend these shoes for any trail running. I have a narrow size 12 foot and they fit like a glove.

This is my fourth pair of Peregrines (two P2s, 1P3 and now 1 P4). These are great trail running shoes and I have used them in 6 Tough Mudders and 2 Spartan Races. For these events, the only drawback I have found is toe protection - when I have jumped up to climb wall, I have banged my toes on the wall, and there is not much there to protect the toe. The only other drawback is that the sidewalls deteriorate quickly because they are so thin and they rub against rocks and roots when I trail run. But, this is after a lot of abuse, and on the flip side, this keeps the shoe light and lets it breath. Will continue to buy these for trail running unless they change them.

Great light trail shoes. I would compare these to my Mizuno Wave Ascend 8's except the Saucony has slightly more cushion. The Peregrine is good for the transition from road to trail days. Water drain is okay, but it has enough cushion to carry you for a distance on the trails. It also has decent grab on all warm/cold surfaces, rocks, roots; dry or wet.

I'd also recommend: mizuno
