A little background first - I grew up a shoe-less hillbilly in TN, and have always hated wearing shoes. As an adult I chose to write software as a career because I could grow a big crazy beard and wear whatever I wanted and folks would just think it was normal because most programmers are a bit off anyway. It's the combination of boyhood memories of feeling the grass between my toes and my now "open to interpretation" dress code at work, that leads to my wearing sandals all year around. I like to wiggle my piggies regardless of the weather. Having said that, winters can still be a little rough on the dogs when fully exposed, so when I saw Sanuk claiming their "shoes" weren't actually shoes but sandals, I figured I'd give them a shot. So I ordered the Kyotos. My first impression was that the shoes looked cool, but they had no arch support which worried me. I've now been wearing them for a month and they've completely conformed to my feet. Every time I slip them on its like my feet are getting a hug. My feet enjoy it. My feet can be kind of needy like that. Something else that threw me off initially was how the soles of the shoes (er, sorry sandals) are long, protruding from the back of my feet over an inch. Initially it felt like I was walking on my pants legs, but that feeling seemed to go away after a few days so don't let it throw you off if it happens to you. Overall impression after a month, this isn't the last pair of Sanuks I'll be picking up, they offer the freedom and comfort of sandals with the foot protection of a shoe, what more could you want?

I just got these and I love them! I usually wear a 10.5 and since they don't offer half sizes, I went with the 11. I'm glad I did because it's a perfect fit.

I have 3 pairs of Sanuk shoes and these may be my favorite. I really like how they have the rolled over part around the top and the other detail stitching around the heel. And of course they are the most comfortable things you will put on your feet. :o)

Just got a pair of Kyotos, really satisfied, ordered on a Monday, at my door Wednesday, well done! Okay, so I think Sanuk fixed their sizing problem; I have one other pair which are now discontinued - they are desert camo, with a different, more substantial hiking-like sole. Cool shoes and they fit great too, but I think Sanuk used to run small. At the time when I got those (probably 2 years ago), I remember having to get an 11, when I always wear a men's 10. Based on recent customer reviews here and on several other sites, the newer Sanuks seem to be more true to size and I can directly testify to this. My size 10 Kyotos came out of the box fitting snug but comfy, and after about 30 minutes of wear they couldn't be more comfortable. If I'm not by a pool or beach, I wear short socks with Sanuks, and even on the brand new ones there's plenty of room for socks; or not, either way. I don't have a half-size foot, so don't know if there have been problems with these shoes with people who do, since Sanuk only makes full sizes. For that I'd just suggest just getting a size larger. I like that this model and the Chibas seem more substantially made; with the padding around the ankle and the inner lining, makes them even more comfy. Personally I'll probably only choose these two models for future purchases. Just get some.

I'd also recommend: Van's
