Since 1907, Sanita® has embraced the Danish word "hygge" (pronounced hue-guh) in the construction of each and every pair of Sanita clogs. Loosely translated, "hygge" means "making everything cozy". Clean design, natural materials and fine craftsmanship are just a few things that make Sanita clogs so special. Christian Andersen, Sanita's founder, utilized these three things to help make Sanita what it is today. Andersen left his career as a farmer forever when he began creating clogs out of wood. After a half-century of building the business, Christen and his son Johannes closed their successful store and completely devoted themselves to designing and distributing footwear. This risky maneuver paid off in the early 1980's.
1983 marked a definitive year for Sanita - that's the year that Christian discovered a factory in Italy that made cast soles out of polyurethane. This innovate new technology allowed Sanita to shape clog bottoms to fit the anatomical shape of the foot. With heel, arch and toe support and added shock absorption, the polyurethane heel combined with the upturned toe of the Sanita clog provided unmatched comfort and launched each and every step with a simple rolling motion. Thus, the Sanita Original Collection (then the San-Flex) was born and is still made in Europe.
Clogs have been a worker's choice for years. Anyone who stands on their feet all day knows the benefits of wearing a finely crafted clog. More recently, clogs have become a fashion statement as well and can be seen on the feet of the fashionable worldwide. For the past 25 years, Sanita has continued to innovate with superior design, materials and hand-crafted European construction. Other Sanita collections such as the Leisure Collection, Occupational Collection, Wave Collection and Vegan Collection cater to the specific needs of the Sanita customer and have helped Sanita further separate itself from other clog companies.

These shoes are wonderful. I have really narrow feet, and they fit perfectly. They are so comfortable: they rock forward when you are walking. I am a 9N, and the 39 worked. I tried the 40 because other reviews said they ran large, but they fell off my feet.

These have been the best shoes I've ever owned. They are so comfortable I have a hard time wearing anything else.

I had given up on finding clogs that fit my narrow foot until a friend asked if I'd tried Sanita. I used to have a pair of narrow Danskos, but they didn't really fit unless I wore very thick socks. My foot is a pretty spot on 2A and these fit great. The front of my foot is held snug and I don't slide crashing to the toe when I walk down hill, even though my heel lifts in the shoe as designed. I walked 2.5 miles in these the first day with thin socks and had no problems whatsoever. I just wish they would make more colors in the narrow width!

I love these shoes. They actually fit a narrow foot. For the first time I can wear thin socks and still have my shoes stay on. They have wonderful arch support. I have purchased three different pairs of these shoes. I just wish that Sanita would realize that people with narrow feet like to wear fun colors and create a wider variety of colors in narrow.

I really like these shoes. Sizing is a little tricky though, particularly with my goofy feet. I have very narrow heels but bunions on both feet (which Sanita shoes are supposed to be better for, given how they're shaped). My left foot is between a 10 and a 10.5, while my right foot is between a 9.5 and a 10. So typically I wear a 41 or 42 in European sizes. A 41 wasn't available in these so I got the 42. Initially I debated whether a 41 would be better, but after cramming some cotton in the left toe to get a sense of whether or not I needed a smaller size, I decided the 41 would not work because my toes were cramping. But the shoes kept feeling like they were falling off my feet. I finally realized the issue is I don't have enough volume to fully fill out the shoe. The answer was to put odor-eating insoles in both shoes (and a little cotton in the right toe, since that foot is shorter). Once I did that, all my problems were solved. These shoes feel great whether I'm sitting or standing and I love that they work with really thick wool socks -- perfect for winter. Oh, and the arch support is amazing.
