These are so very cute! However, it runs a bit small. I ordered in a US equivalent 7.5- 8, and it was just too small all over. I returned it and ordered a slightly different version in the next size up.

The shoes are beautiful. I love them. The sizing is a bit weird. I wear 40s in Dansko clogs and even tried on 40s in a store of other Sarita clogs and they fit. But the 40s I ordered in this one were huge, so I returned them for size 39 which are perfect.

I chose Sanita over Dansko (though I prefer the design patterns on Danskos). The Sanita are fit more narrowly then Danskos, and for me are much more comfortable that way. I am a US size 9½ average width foot (I seldom deviate from the size). I tried both Sanita and Danskos in size 40 and 41. For both clogs, the 41 was a much better fit. I felt like my feet were swimming in the Danskos, whereas they were perfect in the Sanita. Do not rule out clogs if you get a bad fit, try another brand, or get a narrow width clog (or wide). I know there is a narrow and wide width in both Sanita and Dansko. But, in my experience Sanitas run at a more narrow width (which does not mean they are narrow in the traditional sense). As for the color, I got the Gretel in black, which on occasion have a purple hue (dark purple).

I usually buy Dansko. I read in a review some of the Dansko shoes are made in China. So I decided to purchase the Sanitas. I really like them. They are comfy and didn't take long to break in. I would actually purchase the Sanita over the Dansko next time. Keep in mind I have been buying Dansko for over 20 years now. I feel the quality of the Sanita is better overall.
Brands I'd also recommend: Ecco, New Balance, Keen

About Sanita
Since 1907, Sanita® has embraced the Danish word "hygge" (pronounced hue-guh) in the construction of each and every pair of Sanita clogs. Loosely translated, "hygge" means "making everything cozy". Clean design, natural materials and fine craftsmanship are just a few things that make Sanita clogs so special. Christian Andersen, Sanita's founder, utilized these three things to help make Sanita what it is today. Andersen left his career as a farmer forever when he began creating clogs out of wood. After a half-century of building the business, Christen and his son Johannes closed their successful store and completely devoted themselves to designing and distributing footwear. This risky maneuver paid off in the early 1980's.
1983 marked a definitive year for Sanita - that's the year that Christian discovered a factory in Italy that made cast soles out of polyurethane. This innovate new technology allowed Sanita to shape clog bottoms to fit the anatomical shape of the foot. With heel, arch and toe support and added shock absorption, the polyurethane heel combined with the upturned toe of the Sanita clog provided unmatched comfort and launched each and every step with a simple rolling motion. Thus, the Sanita Original Collection (then the San-Flex) was born and is still made in Europe.
Clogs have been a worker's choice for years. Anyone who stands on their feet all day knows the benefits of wearing a finely crafted clog. More recently, clogs have become a fashion statement as well and can be seen on the feet of the fashionable world-wide. For the past 25 years, Sanita has continued to innovate with superior design, materials and hand-crafted European construction. I like them -- bought the camel selection. Quality of leather is superb! Previously sent back the Dansko's. The fit was just awful, the Sanita's, however, fit much better. Like a few customers already mentioned, the Sanita's run a bit more narrow -- not too narrow -- I'd say like one expects a medium (regular) width to fit. The very night that I received this pair, I ordered my 2nd pair in the Bordo Faux Croco style. Almost gave up after failure with Dansko's. Glad I didn't!

I wasn't sure I really wanted to spend this much money on a pair of shoes...but I can say it was money well spent. I have a painful bunion on my big toe from years of wearing heels, and don't want to rush to have surgery. So I decided to try these shoes and I can honestly say, Wow! They have reduced the pain significantly. I love the 1-1/2 height on these shoes, I still feel like I am wearing a heel, just a very comfortable heel, I am saving up to buy another pair or two!
