Since 1907, Sanita® has embraced the Danish word "hygge" (pronounced hue-guh) in the construction of each and every pair of Sanita clogs. Loosely translated, "hygge" means "making everything cozy". Clean design, natural materials and fine craftsmanship are just a few things that make Sanita clogs so special. Christian Andersen, Sanita's founder, utilized these three things to help make Sanita what it is today. Andersen left his career as a farmer forever when he began creating clogs out of wood. After a half-century of building the business, Christen and his son Johannes closed their successful store and completely devoted themselves to designing and distributing footwear. This risky maneuver paid off in the early 1980's.
1983 marked a definitive year for Sanita - that's the year that Christian discovered a factory in Italy that made cast soles out of polyurethane. This innovate new technology allowed Sanita to shape clog bottoms to fit the anatomical shape of the foot. With heel, arch and toe support and added shock absorption, the polyurethane heel combined with the upturned toe of the Sanita clog provided unmatched comfort and launched each and every step with a simple rolling motion. Thus, the Sanita Original Collection (then the San-Flex) was born and is still made in Europe.
Clogs have been a worker's choice for years. Anyone who stands on their feet all day knows the benefits of wearing a finely crafted clog. More recently, clogs have become a fashion statement as well and can be seen on the feet of the fashionable worldwide. For the past 25 years, Sanita has continued to innovate with superior design, materials and hand-crafted European construction. Other Sanita collections such as the Leisure Collection, Occupational Collection, Wave Collection and Vegan Collection cater to the specific needs of the Sanita customer and have helped Sanita further separate itself from other clog companies.

The color is not at all what it appears.Very disappointed. Color not at all that shows when buying so sad I am returning these sadly because they run narrow and color is deceiving.

These are perfect for my imperfect feet. I have high instep wide feet and need arch support. I also have three herniated discs in my lumbar. I tried Dansko and Alegria and both hurt my high instep. These Sanitas are very cool looking and go well with slacks or jeans. I work in a hospital so it is important to have a shoe than can be wiped down. Also, they are non-slip but don't trip me like most other non-slip shoes. Like I said they are perfect and I didn't have to break them in at all! Best of all, the wonderful support team from Zappos spent time with me on the phone helping me find the perfect shoe. Great customer service team!

This is one of the most magnificent looking shoes, the way it feels and looks, unfortunately for me, although I'm a perfect size 5, it is way too tight around the top of the foot and don't want to stretch it to much. Very sad to return it. But, yes, the toe room was enough.
I'd also recommend: clark, allegria, doc martin

Oh my tired feet! I have these on now-and after eight hours on my feet, I still love them! It is my first day with them, and after about an hour of break-in time, they feel wonderful! My back does not hurt, and neither do my legs. My formerly aching feet are grateful.

The color on these is fabulous! Shiny, but the colors are very subtle and you just see glimpses of the colors at certain angles. They look great with black pants or jeans! They were a tad tight across the top of the foot when I first tried them on, but I had similar problems with other Dansko's I had years ago. I broke them in a couple hours a day for a week and for the last week I've been wearing them 10+ hours a day at work. Super comfortable! They are a perfect fit now. I know they are wonderful because I don't rush to take them off when I get home after work. This is my first pair of Sanita shoes and I couldn't be happier, they fit just the way Dansko's used to.
