I got these sandals in the silver and I love the way they look! I wear a 9.5 or 10 and the 41 fit me just right but without a millimeter to spare. I think this brand runs a little small. I can't vouch for long term comfort though, as I haven't worn them yet. These are well done for what they are. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd be paying $129 plus tax for polyurethane sandals much less preferring them over some of the ho-hum leather styles, but there it is.
Love these Birkenstocks! If you have any wideness whatsoever to your feet the regular/wide pair is the way to go. If you look at the little drawing of the foot stamped into the foot-bed it is clear inside whereas the narrow one is filed in with gold. I order them in mens/unisex so my foot which actually measures between a C to D width fits entirely in the sandal with no hanging out on the edges or rubbing. Great sandal! Thanks Zappos for carrying them & delivering them so fast. Wish Birkenstock made more styles in the unisex/mens width, whereas the women's narrow width has so many more manufactured styles & choices.
When I saw the pink color of these sandals it was love at first sight. I received them today and while the pink is every bit as delightful as I expected, other parts of the sandal aren't quite right, mainly the gold over the heel. Now, the gold heel is what makes these sandals unique I guess, but there's something a little cheesy about it, like I should be headed for the night club on the Love Boat. There was something else, however, that actually broke the camel's back for me?the way they smell. It's literally like they were worn by someone pumping gas at Chevron for days and days. Probably if you air them out the smell will dissipate, but be prepared for it if you order these shoes, at least the pink ones. They do fit true to size; I wear a 9.5 to or a 10 and the 10 fit like a glove and seemed like it would be comfortable. The large covered buckle and wide straps are very well done, too. It seems a shame to be using Brian Atwood's equity this way. The least they could do is drop the price by $20; this shoe looks like it's trying to look expensive. At $160 + tax it's overpriced.
wish i could keep. the shoe is a good fit except the straps are too large
LOVE these. My first pair of Birkenstocks and my favorite pair of shoes. It was difficult figuring out my size and picking a color but I am very happy with them and wear them all the time. They're good for going out in the summer, you can wear them winter/fall with socks if it's not too cold, and I also wear them around the house as slippers.
These sandals are lovely; so simple and chic. LOVE the way the wood heel is done, love the periwinkle blue color that they're calling lavender and how the color looks with the light wood, but they have two flaws: 1. They run about a 1/4 size small and as I ordered the 10, there's nowhere else for me to go. I fall on the narrow side of a Medium width and wear a 9.5 about 40% of the time and a 10 about 60% of the time, but boy are these cutting it close in a 10. Deep in my heart I know they're a tad too small and I'm probably going to return them. 2. The one other thing that keeps them from being a home run is the the placement of the ankle buckle. It hits right on my ankle bone and as I live in New York, sooner or later I'd be caught wearing these when I have to walk some distance. It's a walking city anyway and I know better. Band-Aids and wishful thinking won't make these work. Very sad.
