I haven't owned as many Salomon trailing shoes as a previous reviewer, but I've certainly gone through as many pairs of Nike Air Max. I haven't gotten a chance to put these to the test yet, but they feel fantastic right out of the box and the arch support is supreme. The honeycomb material that overlays your the middle of your foot is actually quite effective. Super lightweight. They look fantastic, better (less bulky) than the Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra 2, but most importantly actually fitting my foot. While I think each colorway was really nicely done, the Kiwi Green and black really pops; even looks good with denim. I wish some other folks would jump on their lacing system. Overall, outstanding first impression. I have high expectations on the trails.

I tried on four different pairs of shoes for my trail running purchase including P.Izumi, North Face, Montrail and these. It came down to the Izumi's and the Solomon's but I ended up spending the extra money on this pair. They felt a little more sturdy and being that my knees like to hurt after a long rocky run I wanted as much support as I could find. They do the trick for those on-off road romps.

Two words: Buh Nanas. First, I want to say how much I love Zappos. I ordered these shoes and it got to me in 4.5 days! Not impressed, yet? I'm deployed to Afghanistan! I've never had any issues will all my shoes from Zappos. It's a shame I can't say the same for some other places. Second, these are my second Salomon's. Not because I'm not a fan of Salomon's but because they last that long. The last shoe was 5 years old with thousands of miles on the roads, trail, and everything in between. I didn't want to get rid of them but had to because, needless to say, it was beat up. I know these will keep me satisfied for 5+ years to come. I'm breaking them in in Afghanistan. They'll never know what hit 'em.

Great fit and comfort. The lacing is too long and the tongue is shorter than the XA Pro and Speedcross 2.

Anyone with tender, jacked feet from the military should own two pairs of these shoes. Laces are a bit long, but just cut the excess off and reknot. they run half a size bigger than what is marked. I wear 11, so I bought 10½ which fit perfectly.

Ordered these shoes while on a long weekend over the 4th of July. They arrived at my door the day I returned. Excellent delivery time and outstanding communication from Zappos on when they would be delivered! The shoes looked good, felt good, and fit perfectly! Very comfortable with good arch and lateral support. I really liked the cinch up style of laces and that was one of the determining factors for purchasing this shoe.

This was my first purchase on Zappos. Very hard to find any store selling Salomon shoes. They had a large selection in my size. Normal delivery was very rapid - only 2 days. I will use this site again for my next shoe service.

I've had these shoes about a month now, and it sounds crazy, but I think they just get more and more comfortable with every wearing. The arch support is phenomenal and the ride quality is excellent. I'm not much of a runner, but I do a lot of walking in the course of a day and these shoes are fantastic. I have also noticed a decrease in lower back and knee pain with wearing these compared to a lower-quality brand shoe. I purchased the lime green shoes and have received tons of compliments on the design, style and color of my XRs. These are a bit pricey, which would be my only complaint, but I love them so much I plan on buying another pair in a different color.

These are the best shoes I ever owned. They are my second pair of Salomon shoes and that was a great pair too. They just feel like high quality shoes when you put them on. My job requires me to be on my feet all day and these shoes really helped out.

First pair of Salomon shoes; pulled them out of the box and ran a half-marathon the next day...felt good. Normally wear 10.5W, ordered 11's; arch support is adequate, no precise, but adequate (reason for 4-star; wide may change that if avail). Training for half...4-6 mile run (one run) per week max.

Awesome shoes! True to size, grippy on rocks, I always use an orthotic, but the standards are good, too. Took them on a trail hike with mixed class 3/4 scrambling and a stream crossing, they held up well, dried quickly, and kept crud and sand off my feet. They're definitely more of a running shoe than the GTX Pro's whereas those are more of a trail shoe, tough to say when you own both. :)

I can't get a good fit. The lacing system usually works great for me, but not in this case (this is my 4th pair of Salomons). Also, I found the forefoot to be especially wide; which I usually prefer, but it even too wide for me.
