I'm a Salomon fan. Salomon shoes fit my foot very well. So I buy them often. I wear them every day walking/hiking with my dog on trails near our home. The arch fits my foot perfectly and even though I have narrow feet the 'medium' size works well for me as the lacing system allows me to make the shoes snug on my foot. I purchased this pair as I was leaving for a 2 week vacation to Paris and London and planned to do lots of walking and my previous pair were completely worn out. I did lots of walking in these shoes in Paris and my feet were not sore or achy at the end of the day. They are lightweight yet provide good support. While I wasn't wild about the color, I did get quite a few compliments on the color.

Terrific running shoes. The heel is narrow as it should be for a woman's foot. My heel usually slips in most sneakers, but this one fits the way it is supposed to. Excellent support. Lots of compliments on the look of the shoe.

This is my second pair. Very comfortable and breathable. I do dog agility and am on my feet for eight hours at a time and these shoes are supportive and light. Good traction on grass and dirt/sand. Good looking too.

I'm updating a review that I did a year ago. I have now had my Salomon Comps for TWO years. They have held up magnificently and are still comfortable. Unlike some other reviewers, I have had no issues with the lacing system breaking - I'm still on the originals. What I love about this shoe: they are the PERFECT trail running shoe. First, check out the grips on the bottom of the shoe. The jagged edges ensure that you don't slip, even on gravel. Plus, they are slanted one way at the toe to prevent you from slipping and to get a better grip on the uphill, and slanted the other way for the downhill. Second, I believe that the lighter shoe HELPS in trail running. Some reviewers complain that there is not enough support and that these shoes are flimsy. Well, I think that they fit like a glove (or a sock), which really helps for true trail runners. I wore this shoe in a race last year, and kicked some butt on the rocky downhill parts. I attribute this to the fact that I can feel changes in terrain slightly sooner than if I had a bulkier shoe on. This allows me to adjust my running position and avoid twisting my ankle (okay, hopefully I just didn't jinx myself). Third, the lacing system allows for an extremely comfortable and easily customized fit. I LOVE this lacing system and will never buy another pair of running shoes without it. There are no pressure points on my feet, and I am amazingly able to achieve a perfect lace-up every run. The lacing system has never loosened while I'm running - the tightness stays at the desired level. These shoes run big. I'm normally a 9.5 (sometimes 10) but fit a 9 in these shoes. I think that some reviewers aren't using these shoes for the purpose that they were built: trail running on varied terrain. Keep this in mind when purchasing. I actually find them quite comfortable for every day wear too, although after two years I'm about due for a new pair. My mom thinks they look funny, but I think they're pretty sporty... I have the red and want the blue next time.

The more I wear them, the less I like them - I bought these hoping they would be a lot like a pair of Salomon cross-trainers I got years ago and still have -- a solid tank of a shoe with a rubber toe guard and a well-formed footbed. Unfortunately, after a couple months of wear, including yard and garden work, these shoes, which are mostly plastic and mesh, don't live up to their predecessors. Very light, not enough forefoot cushioning, little stability in heel (and no loop at the back, a too-short tag to pull on), and the lacing system is the worst. It may lace up quickly but invariably cinches too tight over the arch which results in aching feet and numbness even when I am in the house on the elliptical trainer. Rarely have to re-tie traditional laces but almost always have to adjust these (with both hands and a prayer) to relieve discomfort. I kept these because I thought they'd be fine for housework, in-house workouts, etc. but I'll have to spend more money getting decent insoles and shoelaces. Definitely would not recommend these shoes if you're looking for something to support your feet through hours of workout or yard work.

Love them! I just got these and couldn't be happier. A little snug getting on, but once they're on, they feel fabulous. They do run just a bit large. Lots of toe room! Very cute!

Just what I needed! I have worn Salomon trail runners for years, and I really like these. The lacing system is awesome. The toe box is big enough even though I ordered my regular size (I have wide feet). I like the plastic in front because it keeps my toes dry when walking the dog through wet grass. Moderate ankle support. I don't actually run in these, but I think I agree with the earlier reviewer that they don't have an awesome insole.

Good shoe, lousy insole - I still have a pair of Salomon cross-trainers bought around 2000. They are tanks, with heavy rubber outsoles and toe guards, and they are the gold standard for walking shoes for me. These Salomons, sadly, are not as sturdy (hate the plastic stuff around the toe box), but they are designed with the low heel and wide toe that I associate with Salomon, and that other walking/running shoes have abandoned in favor of too much heel cushioning and not enough forefoot support. I'm not wild about the lacing system -- what happens if they break, as they are bound to do? -- but it does keep the shoes reliably secure around my feet. The insoles are flimsy and need replacing, even for walking. I can't imagine running in the shoes with the standard insoles -- instant foot pain!

Overall, this shoe is great. I purchased this shoe for the treadmill. I was having problems with pain in the bottoms of my feet and numbness in my toes. Once I used wore these shoes, that all stopped! The shoes took a couple of wears before breaking in, but they have been very comfortable, not too stiff and give great support. The laces were a little awkward at first, but are very easy to use once you become familiar with them. So far, the quality has been great as well. I would recommend these shoes.

These shoes rock - I love these shoes. After I opened the box and slipped them on, I knew they were keepers. Not only are they super cute but they are very comfortable, light, and supportive. I recommend them.

Another great pair of Solomon’s!!! This is my second pair of Solomon’s. I wore the soles out on my last pair of Amphibious ones. These are really great for hiking and running on trails. Awesome tread for no slipping and good comfort. I like to use thick socks for hiking. A great shoe!!!

Nice shoe... I've been wearing XA Comps for years. This new model is still comfortable and the lacing system can't be beat. However, the heel is no longer as narrow and the large plastic toe cap really blocks the air flow through the mesh. The increased amount of grey plastic also compromises the look of the shoe in my opinion. The XA Pro is more stable (less padding) for serious trail running, but the Comps are the best all-around shoe for me. Both XAs have a wider toe box which I need - they may be too roomy for narrow feet.

Awesome! This shoe is a perfect fit for me! I originally bought another brand, and found that one on the narrow side and uncomfortable. Decided to go for this one and have to say...again...perfect. Very comfortable and light. Good arch support. The only drawback, if there is one, is that the laces loosen a bit while walking, so need adjustment every now and again.

Great shoe! Love this shoe- I really like the lacing system. It doesn't put pressure on any part of the foot and is easy to adjust. I don't ever want to go back to traditional laces! Zappos has the best shipping policy ever. I ordered my shoes on a Saturday and they arrived early Monday afternoon.

I normally wear a 6.5-7 narrow in a running shoe, a 6 in other shoes. I originally purchased a size 6 in this shoe from a sports store, wore it a few times and ended up giving it to my sister whose feet are also narrow but larger. I then purchased a 5 and a 5 1/2 from Zappos. The size 5 fits best, probably would have worn a 5 1/2 if my foot wasn't narrow. European size for the 5 is a 36 which I also wear in Birkenstocks. The cushioning in this shoe is phenomenal!

Great trail shoe - Good stability; fits my narrow heel well. I use orthotics so it’s hard to say what the arch support would be like without them. I like the quick laces.

Cute but... These just did not fit my feet right. They were on the narrow side, about a half size larger than marked and slipped on my heel. The look however was very, very cute. Too bad they just did not fit properly. Good to go if you have a narrow foot and order smaller than your normal size. Cheers to Zappos!

Finally a shoe that fits! I have very fussy feet and have tried many shoes for walking. To me, it is all about comfort. I tried Keens, which are adorable but I have wide toes and narrow heels and they just didn't work. After hours of reading reviews, I decided to try the Salomon’s. I wanted them for light hiking on dirt paths, but was surprised that they are great for walking on concrete. My feet always hurt when walking on concrete sidewalks. These shoes have made a huge difference. I can walk around town and not feel the pain after! The lacing takes a bit to get used to, but it's rather nice, since you can quickly loosen them if your feet start to swell. I am VERY happy with my purchase and extremely happy with Zappos!

The Best Trail Runner Ever - I've owned my Salomon Comps for about a year now and I still absolutely love them. At first I was very hesitant to try this lacing system, but I have to say that they are a hundred million times better than regular laces. I used to have such trouble getting my old trail shoes to lace up comfortably. I have found the zip lace system to be heavenly. There are no uncomfortable pressure points, which really surprised me. All shoes should have this lace system. It is so easy, quick, and comfy. As for the sizing, I normally wear a 9.5 or 10, but the 9 in this shoe fits me absolutely perfectly. I run in some seriously mucky, rooty, rocky, gravelly trails, and I have not once slipped. The grip is amazing on the soles. Buy this shoe! - I will never buy another trail runner for as long as they keep making these.

This is my third pair of XZ Comps - I have feet that are narrow in back, wide in front - wider than usual - and these shoes are perfect for me. Some say it's a little wider or longer than listed. I don't find that.
