These are mistakenly sized. I ordered a 8.5 US and got boots marked that but also 40 2/3 EU...which of course makes them really long. Got 2 different styles of Salomon and both were sized this way. The other 8.5s I tried were all 39 as the size chart says. It seems Salomon doesn't quite conform to the size chart.

I have a narrow heel but a wide foot at the toe end. These boots fit me perfectly. They also have a lace locking mechanism - no more bending over to tighten the boots on a long hike! I normally wear a size 8 shoe, but these fit me best in a 7 1/2, so they do run larger than you would expect. Other bonus: the laces aren't crazy long, like you find on most boots. I normally wear Garmont. I cross-shopped these against The North Face Dhaulaghiri II GTX, Garmont Amica and La Sportiva FC ECO 3.0.

Okay, I am a guy with short wide feet. Seems all I can wear comfortably is Salomon hiking boots. Yes, womans! They fit super. They are comfortable enough to wear for extended periods. I am not kidding, these are pleasant. I will never buy any other brand.

I purchased this boot for a backpacking trip in the Grand Canyon. My choice was based on its light weight and women specific fit. I have a narrow foot and wanted a boot that did not allow for my foot to slide forward on steep downhills. This boot fit the bill. I originally ordered 8 1/2 but exchanged for 8 which was perfect. I only wore the boots around the house a few times to break them in. My husband was sure that I would get blisters. After 28 mile Rim to Rim hike I was the only one that did not get blisters. I did add an arched cushion insole for extra comfort since I was carrying a 20 lb pack and would be hiking approx 5-6 hrs per day. These boots provided the support I needed and were very comfortable.

These boots rock! First off, I never leave product reviews. As soon as I put my feet into them, I knew they were it. I am 8.5 dress shoe/9 running shoes and I ordered the 8.5 with trepidation after the reviews. They fit like a glove! I prefer a wider toe box, but not sloppy and these fit the bill! They are supportive in the ankle without the constriction and shin bite, allow my toes to spread in a natural position, and look great. I am ordering a pair (in a different color of course) for a hiking buddy who tried mine on.

The first time I wore them was when I went ATVing. They were comfortable on the feet, but rubbed the inside of my ankles. I was glad we weren't hiking! Hopefully it was just a break-in period and they won't continue to do so. I did go through some mud and water and they did keep my feet nice and dry. They also weren't as heavy as my other hiking boots, which I liked.

I never write reviews of shoes, but I just had to acknowledge how much I love these boots. I wore them for 4 days in the field, wearing 40 pounds of gear and hiking 6 hours a day. They did not require any breaking-in whatsoever, and I have never gotten any blisters or hot spots. They provide great ankle and arch support with a great range of motion. Order a half size up (they fit like a running shoe). Another fantastic shoe from Salomon!

I have wide feet and narrow heels. I tried all the boots that the department store had to offer, and the best fit for me was the Salomon Quest - but they came up too high on my legs. So, I found the Comet at Zappos, which had the same features, light weight, super comfortable, and I love the grippers that hold the lace tight, right over the ankle - which actually holds my narrow heels in place. They are warm for snowshoeing, dry, and so, so light! I am so glad that I finally found them!

I wear a 9.5 usually and have a fairly narrow foot. I got a 9 and have plenty of toe room. So far I'm just in the march-around-the-living-room-trial phase of purchase but these could be keepers. Nice and light with decent arch support. Seem to push me a bit into pronation but I think once I'm on the uneven trail that will no longer be noticeable.

I love these boots! I usually wear an 8-8.5, but these 9's are perfect. I can wear two pair of socks and I haven't been cold yet. And I hike when it's in the teens sometimes. Very comfortable and my feet stay dry.
