I just got back from a trip to Arizona and the Grand Canyon, and I wore these Salomons for the first time on the trip. I was expecting Arizona to be dry and hot, but instead it was cold and very rainy. The locals said it was the rainiest May they remembered. It rained more often than not while we were there. I went on an excursion to see the slot canyons, and it POURED. To get to the canyons, we had to walk through big, deep puddles, mud, and nearly torrential rain in the desert. It also rained the whole time I was at the Grand Canyon, and also for the first half hour of a rafting trip on the Colorado River. I wore my Salomons for all of these excursions, and my feet stayed dry and warm the entire time. Not one drop of moisture seeped through these puppies! By contrast, my traveling companion wore regular hiking shoes and his feet were soaked. Not only that, but the mud and sand that accumulated on my shoes in the desert magically disappeared once we left the desert to go on to other things. My shoes look as good as new. Oh, and they were comfy too. I rarely write reviews of products (in fact, I can't recall writing any!) but these shoes were so great that I just had to let folks know.

Very comfortable. The shoe laces can be awkward at time. String is to long so have to wrap it around the other laces. Dirt messes with the tracks of the laces & makes it difficult to untie the shoe.

I have a very wide foot and this B is perfect. The shoe looks more red in the pic but is in reality more of a dark raspberry sort of carmine. My daughter still loved them (and is totally in tomboy/no girly stuff mode). They are great for hiking and walking about. She's also played soccer and basketball in them at school. She has gotten tons of compliments on them and I just ordered a pair for myself. They are a fantastic shoe and appear very well constructed. The sole reminds me of a truck tire. Can't wait to hike in my own pair!

First time writing a review. I normally hike in my Lowa Renegade boots but I wanted to go a bit lighter with trail runners. I love my Lowas but I'm trying to lighten my load. I've tried at least a dozen different trail runners from LaSportivas to Merrells to Salomons but haven't been able to find one that fits with the support I was looking for and also fit my feet, I have a wide left foot and everything else gave me trouble with narrow areas across the ball of my foot. Not these, they fit great. I'm hiking with approximately 30 lb pack in the Sierras and Rocky Mountain National Park. Right out of the box hiking 30 miles in 4 days these are awesome. I think I'll add some Superfeet insoles after a few more miles but I love them so far. Zappos is the greatest! Love the return policy.

I've only had the Salomon Wings Pro for 48 hours but I already really like them and find them very comfortable. However, since I've owned them for such a short period, my review is not targeted at the shoe itself but rather how I got them. I bought a different pair of Salomon sneakers about 16 months ago. I've worn them a lot over that time and the interior began to wear away to the point that the plastic construction of the shoe was visible. I contacted Salomon and they informed me that they have a 2 year warranty on all of their footwear and furthermore, that Zappos is one of the retailers who can process their warranties directly. I contacted Zappos who confirmed this. They no longer had my previous Salomon model in stock, so they gave me the full credit of my purchase price from 16 months ago towards a new pair...and I used that credit to get these shoes. I couldn't believe it! By buying one pair of Salomon's, I basically received double the value. I've worn many Salomons over the years and only recently learned of the warranty. Makes my commitment to continue wearing them even stronger...

Great colors and comfortable on the first fit. Because I have a narrow heel I often put my shoes on without undoing laces (my bad). Elastic lace makes it easy in this case. The upper heel isn't completely rigid, and very slightly smooshes down just a bit while putting on the shoe, but not so much that I can't get my foot down. I would prefer a loop at the heel so I have something to grab, but it isn't really an issue. Lightweight and breathable, great for dry weather.

Disclaimer: I'm a Salomon junkie! Nonetheless, this is a nice light hiker. Like all Salomon boots, it fits like a bedroom slipper right out of the box, no break-in required. It also looks really sharp. I've worn Salomon for 15 years hiking in the Grand Canyon. I wouldn't usually backpack in these, but I did once, a pretty rugged trail, too, in a similar pair, and they handled it just fine. So lace up and go pretty much wherever you want! With style, too!

This is still a good shoe but not as comfortable as the ones I purchased a few years ago. The new fully integrated tongue seems to squeeze despite purchasing a wide and keeping the laces loose.

Potential to be the best shoe Ive ever found for long rugged trail days. I typically use a more minimal shoe, slightly less drop, slighty less padded. I picked this up for when I need a bit more protection on long days. So far it seems perfect. I have a couple mild 10 mile trail runs on them, and one 15 mile day up 5k with slushy snow, wet rock, and loose talus/scree. Grip was not excellent on very mushy snow/mud, since this shoe doesn't have big lugs, but on everything else, it outperformed any other shoe ive had. very secure grip on wet rock and dirt. shoe feel secure on my feet, yet roomy enough for a thick sock in winter. nice roomy toebox. twice I hooked the toe hard on sharp manzanita branches and the material did not show any sign of the abuse.

Great shoe! Hiked the south rim of the Grand Canyon a week after they arrived. No problems with blisters or with traction. I will definitely buy another pair when these are worn out.

I love these shoes. Out of the box they were super comfortable. Good arch support, slimming looking. The tread is different than anything I have ever worn, and I love it. Grip is good, I feel stable on my feet. These are a hit.

I'm extremely disappointed in this shoe. One of the main reasons I am a loyal Salomon shoe wearer is due to the wide toe box. I think Salomon is starting to shave 1/4-1/2 inch off the toe box of their shoes and even that tiny bit difference in the width makes the shoe painful to wear after an hour. I compared the soles of this shoe to the soles of my two other pairs of Salomons and it definitely is less wide; I'm worried I won't be able to continue with this brand; any feedback from other customers would be welcome.

Very pleased. The fit was a wee bit on the large size. Usual size is 5.5 which is what I ordered. Added an insole and it is perfect. As described, these shoes are weatherproof. They've been in snow in Iceland and hikes in Washington State so far.

These are my husband's third pair of Solomons. These are his favorite shoes and he wears them until they are completely worn out! They are definitely worth the price and are great for everyday use and also for hiking. My husband feels they are a bit narrow in the toe box at first, but they stretch out well over time. Will continue to repurchase over and over again.

Best hiking shoes ever. On the trails it keeps a clumsy person upright. No issues with water and that's a big deal in northern California. Comfort is stellar. True to size and width.

I absolutely love these shoes! I ordered and tried over nine pairs of sneakers to find the ultimate shoes for my bootcamp, insanity, P90X type workout routine and this was it. They have amazing grip which would be perfect for all the burpees and jumps we do on grass and uphill and down hill hiking drills as well. The color is like a mixed sorbet. So gorgeous and the shoelaces are such a breeze to put on and off. They do run half a size small, though, so I am glad that I listened to the previous reviews.

Bought these for my daughter, who has several serious foot problems and frequent pain. She says this is the first time she can remember a shoe feeling comfortable right away. She has flat feet, a short heel cord, long big toes with hallux limitus, and narrow feet. I think the shape and adjustability of the shoe are helpful with the foot shape issues, and the support and cushioning help with the others.

This is the third time I've bought these shoes. And always in this color. I love them, obviously. Besides being the most comfortable shoes I've worn they are really cute. I get compliments on them all the time. My feet are wider in front and they accommodate that without being too wide at the heel. I use them for walking 5-6 days a week, 45 min. at a time. Also for just everyday errands etc. I definitely recommend them.

The following is based on getting these specifically as a hiking shoe, not as an everyday tool-around-town sneaker. I originally tried the Salomon Ellipse GTX based on its "Editor's Choice" designation within the rigorous testing of the Outdoor Gear Lab's Women's Hiking Shoe review. I also tried on their pick for "Best Buy" along with another pair that they tested. Ultimately I chose these because of the fit, excellent arch support, waterproofness, weight, breathability, and style. I'm generally turned off by the busy visual style style of hiking shoes, I wish they could all be a bit simpler. But I appreciated that these came in a subtler neutral color combination (Thyme/Asphalt) that didn't pander to the ridiculous notion that outdoor gear for women must be wholly restricted to large swaths of purple, pink, or baby blue. Although they had great arch support to begin with, I gave the shoes a slight upgrade by immediately trashing the thin insoles for Superfeet brand Green ones. With a slightly thicker insole and medium-cushion wool hiking sock, I found that my regular size that I buy all my other shoes in was a perfect fit. To note: I have regular (medium?)-width feet, they are neither especially wide nor narrow. As recommended by the other reviews, I also tried a half size down, which I found to be incredibly tight (even without an insole change). So when used as an actual hiking shoe, I find that they are true to size and do not run large at all. Though if you have an especially narrow foot and only plan to wear them with a thin cotton sock, I can see how they would seem too large in that context. After a long weekend of hiking around Zion National park, I'm super pleased with the purchase. Although I wore them for a few days beforehand, they truly required no breaking in. We were out on a rainy day (not torrential downpour, but definitely more than a sprinkle) and they kept me feet comfy and dry. When descending down steep trails, my toes were never uncomfortably jamming against the front of the toe box. The soles felt grippy whether the terrain was wet or covered with loose sand. The laces stayed tied, and tightened with ease when tying. The last eyelet made of metal seems like a great idea. They were breathable yet kept dirt and debris out.

I've have this shoe in orange for years. It fits and wears like iron. Washing is easy and so is using any orthotics you might need. I'd say it's wide and the 9 1/2 I usually wear is...generous. But the little belt in the back customizes it. I have 8 pair of Salomon's. Every style always draws comments. I love them.

Overall 4 out of 5 stars. 4 stars for great comfort in this trail shoe. My feet are never fatigued after a strenuous hike in these shoes. Great looking too. Stellar traction on rocky terrain. Beware they run a little large. Get 1/2 size smaller than usual. Minus one star for incompatibility with water and tread wear. Traction is seriously compromised when tread is wet. Only use in dry conditions. Tread wears pretty quickly considering the price of this shoe.
