Great trail running shoe! I've been looking for a shoe that is a little more aggressive, and I do not regret purchasing these. Will definitely be adding another pair.

This shoe is pretty narrow for my 11.5 feet. Did not think I would want to run 4 miles in it comfort. Style and quality seem pretty good. Sent back for full refund.

I really want to love these shoes. I recently took them to Maui and wore them hiking to waterfalls along the Road to Hana. They are very, very comfortable and I loved that the lace pull tucked away into the top of the tongue- very convenient and decreased any trip hazards... These were even comfortable when soaking wet (I stepped right into the river by accident). But I have to say, there was ABSOLUTELY NO GRIP along the wet river rocks I was trying to scramble along. I'm not sure if it was because the rocks were slightly muddy or if it was the presence of algae, but I would have been better off (grip wise) with bare feet! I couldn't believe how slippery they were. Not good. I have a trail run in Tahoe in a few weeks so if I can improve upon this review, I will. Until then, 5 stars for comfort, zero stars for tread. :( On a side note, they fit true to my Asics running shoe size of 9.5.

I had the XR Mission and loved it. So, I decided to try this one. Very comparable, immediately comfortable and hope to wear it until it is dead like my old ones. A different color and not worn out is about the only difference I can find between the old and the new. This is maybe my third pair of Salomons, not counting boots and ski boots. I like this brand and I like that Zappos gets them to me in a hurry!

I love Salomon and I love zappos. Great customer service!!! I run th trails in my area at least twice per week and once I started wearing salomon's I haven't gone back. They are perfect for the trails. The speedcross shoe is very rugged and perfect for any trail terrain.

Great for those with narrow heels! I have a super difficult time finding hiking shoes for my low volume, narrow feet. Many shoes don't even come in sizes above 10, much less in a narrow profile. Finally, a shoe that is rugged for hiking but doesn't create blisters and foot pain! Yes, I do use a liner sock, add an light insert, and have tried different lacing techniques, but if the shoe is too large in the heel area, it's still a blister problem. The Salomon Quest 4D 2 GTX is wonderful. It's sturdy, well fitted, and even a fun color in navy blue. I normally wear a 10.5 to 11 narrow in Brooks running shoes, and the 10.5 in these hikers fit just right, with room in the toe for those downhills or end of day swollen/tired feet. Zappos continues to be amazing with customer service and shipping and return shipping!

This boot is light, cool, yet sturdy. Great stability to ankle. Comfortable for trail and rock scrambles. I use it for winter urban walking and around the world crazy environments. It is water resistant but I do not recommend getting wet if you can avoid, I felt my pair tightened up after a rugged wet experience. Great product.

don't care for these at all. You can feel rocks through the sole and they are not waterproof. I haven't had a pair of Salomon yet that I was totally satisfied with. Great looking boots and that's what sucks you in but comfort and quality lacking. :-(

Out of the box, these hiking boots were awesome.I typically wear a 6.5-7 and ordered these in a 7. They are roomy and comfortable.Very stable on steep, rocky inclines - both uphill and downhill. Very supportive in the ankle and footbed areas. I've been searching for a good hiking boot for a long time and am happy I found these. The perform well on rocky trails plus 13'ers and 14'ers and these are the most stable boots I've ever owned.

This shoe was super comfy right out of the box. However, I ended up returning because I realized afterwards that it wasn't a hiking shoe. Thanks to zappos for their awesome return policy, I was able to go with a different salomon boot

If you're looking at this pack, you probably already know it's the best mid-range ultra-running pack on the market. I had a UD SJ 2.0 pack and didn't like it very much, simply because the adjustment straps were rigid (two of them are also hidden and unreachable while running) and thus the pack moved too much while running. Carrying two bottles on your chest in a bouncy pack while running is a nightmare, not to mention the damage it does to running tops. So, I bought this pack after poring over reviews of many packs and I'm glad I did. First off, on sizing, I'm 6'1" 185lb with a 42" chest and I have the M/L vest. The sizing chart appears accurate. I also ordered the XL vest from Zappos and fit-tested both. I could have kept the XL but I felt the bottles were better positioned on the M/L. Now to actually running, there's absolutely no movement or chafing at all, even when lightly loaded with two bottles and some gels. The soft flasks conform to your body well and the pack seems to breathe fairly well. I'm definitely looking forward to more long runs with this pack. There are a few drawbacks though. First is price - for a 25-30% markup compared to similar packs, you should get a bladder included, not a space blanket. Second is the soft flasks. Yes, I like them overall, but the design is flawed. There are probably 20 loops, cords, and zippers on this pack but nothing that grabs the top of the bottle and keeps it from falling down in the pocket. As a result, you have to dig for the flask. If you grab the nozzle, it squirts because there's no open/close mechanism. Also, the mouth of the bottle is small. If you plan to refill on the go, you'll need an individual sleeve of powder, not a large bag or can. Third, directions & care instructions? There are a few straps, loops & tighteners on the vest that I have no idea what their function is. Nothing came with the pack to explain it. Overall, the pack isn't perfect but it's worth the premium price.

HO. LEE. CRAP. I love these shoes! I trail run and hike in my runners. I have been using Salomon for over a decade now with a few side excursions in other brands to test... I started with XA Pro's and graduated to the SpeedCross 3 where I spent the last 2 years or so tearing up the local mountains and trails. That's my past experience, and for reference I wore a 10.5 in the SC3 and consider myself narrow-footed. I have read other reviews about how you should go up a half size. I guess it depends on why... I ran in a 10.5 in the SC3, length-wise I probably needed an 11 but the cradle of the 10.5 was awesome so I just kept my toenails trimmed way down, plus with the downhills I don't mind having the toes touch to keep stability. Anyway, going to these I decided to order the 10.5 and am glad I did. These feel a tad narrower than the SC3, but to me the toebox feels a hair longer and wider at the very tip, which feels perfect to me. It's a bit lower and slimmer as well, so it was really nice to get my heel truly tucked in and planted. For fit, I am in love. I put up 4.5mi on a rugged trail run to feel them out and compare. Very pleased! The lugs are sure, the grip is there, and they feel at least as laterally stable if not more so than the SC3. The foot sits a little lower so that may have a bit to do with the stability but whatever it is, it's nice to have that surefootedness. I felt like when I planted my feet, that's where they were going to stay. These are as aggressive as they look. They are not for casual wear or casual trails. buy these if you want grippy shoes meant to cover crap terrain in no time. Highly recommended

Great running shoe. I have the Speedcross 3 and thought I'd give their road shoe a chance. Salomon is more comfortable than ASIC IMO. I love the lace lock system. No more untie shoes mid race.

I have been a HUGE fan of the X Mission 3 Solomon...I have bought every color available & wear them until my feet & knees hurt (this is the sign that after the pounding I give these shoes at Zumba & running...they're shot!) I ordered the Speedcross 3 this time & my feet felt like they were squozen, and during exercise the bottom of my toes & balls of my feet went to sleep. Loosened the straps 4 times. they just don't fit ME as well as the X Mission 3.

These shoes so far a great. I have been wearing on pavement and trails and they are very comfortable. I will be wearing them hiking soon! I am only giving 4 stars because I have not owned or worn them for very long. I cannot speak to the arch support as I wear custom orthotics which slip into the shoe easily.

Would have been the perfect light non-waterproof (truly breathable) hiker. I had a XA Pro 3d from a few years back and love the Salomon line in theory. This would have been the best choice for someone to do occasional day hikes, however the only (but major) gripe, is that the top lace hook is felt on my upper ankle bone. I purchased this model as it had the least metal lace hole/hooks, which in most Salomon light hike / trail runners, dig into either the top of my foot and/or ankle bone. I was very disappointed to return this item, as I knew that top lace hook would eventually bruise my upper ankle bone were I to lace up the shoe tightly like you're supposed to. The upper and soles were so comfortable. Solomon, please make this model without that last lace hook. You'll have the perfect shoe.

Excellent, light all-purpose shoe. Two minor issues, both can probably be resolved with new insoles. 1. The top of the shoe rubs the underside of my ankle. It doesn't hurt, but it gets irritating after a few hours. 2. The arch of the insole doesn't match up with the arch of my foot. So I think I'll get a set of high-quality insoles to solve both problems. The question about arch support below gives me three choices, none of which apply. My answer is that the arch support would be correct if it was located under the arch of my foot.
