I bought these for aerobics classes that involve a lot of BOSU (the thing that looks like half of an exercise ball) work and weights. I didn't buy them for their looks and that was a good thing because I didn't feel they were very cute on me. I usually wear a 7.5 athletic shoe so I tried the 7.5. Even though the length and toe box fit just right in the 7.5, my heel slipped. I also had the same problem in the Synergy and the Assist XT 2. This has never been a problem for me with other brands. I really liked having the ankle support in these, it made me feel very stable. I would have needed more arch support if I had kept them. These are not a thickly cushioned type of shoe that makes you feel like you're walking on air. They give you more tactile response and so would be best fit to dance style classes. I don't know if it was just the lightweight feel of these or what, but they felt the cheapest out of the three styles I tried. Regardless, I think they are well made (in China, as are all Rykas).

Just not like the old Ryka aerobic shoes. Not enough arch support, not enough cushion.

These sneakers are great. They should be consider high tops which works well for me. I had to insert an additional insole because their insole didn't provide enough support. Otherwise, I am very happy with this sneaker.

Great great great shoes! I am usually cheap to spend more then a lot on shoes. But these ones, totally worth the price. I instruct Jazzercise and since I got Ryka, never had pain or discomfort in my feet when jumping, jogging or performing the the kick-boxing moves during the class.

teach cardio classes and loved Ryka's N-Gage Studio Mid fitness shoe. They no longer make that shoe and have presented this cheap, poor quality, no-support, horrible fitting shoe as its replacement. Too bad. I will no longer buy Ryka nor will I recommend it to my students, as their shoe manufacturing process must have changed and they no longer make the fantastic shoes they used to make.

Shoe is good for my feet, and the purchase experience was as positive as wearing them to work out is.
Brands I'd also recommend: New Balance and Nike, for aerobics; Dansko for daily

I ordered a half size larger as I normally do for Rykas, but the shoes felt huge. I reordered in my true shoe size, but they still feel a bit big, especially the width. I'm keeping them for Jazzercise even though they don't have the usual good Ryka fit. The arch support feels so-so, too. On the positive side, they're lightweight and cute.

They are great shoes I use them for zumba. They are a high top shoe that helps with my ankles. There is a great air flow.

I specifically purchased this shoe to do aerobics. I love the comfort and the light weight. This shoes does not necessarily feel a 1/2 size bigger, but I do have a little extra room. Overall, it's a great shoe!

I really like the Ryka brand. They seem to fit me better. I can't believe how light these feel when wearing them. They really don't have a high arch in them. Which, is what I prefer anyways. Nice sneakers!

Great for extreme cardio workouts! they expand so no need to get 1/2 size up. Perfect fit, and very comfy on ankles and knees.

Great shoe! I jazzercise and have to have a comfortable shoe in order to bounce around! These shoes were great! Normally my feet are sore when I break in the shoe, but these shoes didn't even need breaking in! They were comfortable from the first class on!

I used to like the old Ryka N Gage Studio shoe, but all of the new Rykas are really poorly made. This is the second Ryka I've tried in the past few months, and I had to send it back too. There is no cushioning or arch support in this shoe, and the upper is scratchy and stiff. It feels like I'm wearing a piece of stiff cardboard on the bottom with some scratchy netting on top. I'm really disappointed because for a long time Ryka was just about the only one who made decent shoes for aerobics but apparently not any longer.

Why, oh why, do companies feel they have to change athletic shoe styles? The N-Gage Instructor was my favorite step aerobic shoe ever and it is no more. This shoe is black, which is it's best feature. It does not have nearly the lateral support of the N-Gage. It is also roomy in a strange way: I ended up leaving the sock-liner- insert-thing in the shoe in addition to my orthotics. That seemed to help support my foot. This is better than the Studio Mid (terrible for step aerobics!), but that's the best thing I can say.
Brands I'd also recommend: avia

I too was a big fan of the N-Gauge Studio Mid and have been extremely disappointed with its subsequent replacements. This shoe has slightly more cushion than the Studio-Mid but there is no way I'd be able to use these shoes without my custom orthotics--the shoe has absolutely no arch support. I replace my shoes every six weeks but these shoes didn't even make it a month. By the fourth week, I felt as if I were working out in my bare feet.

I like it. My feet are little skinnier so I have to tighten it in front little more, but they are still comfortable.

I really love these shoes. I do Jazzercise and they are really comfortable and don't hurt my feet doing various moves, e.g. side to side, etc. Well worth it.

I have used Ryka studio shoes for several years. These are an improvement over the Ryka Studio Flex model. The mid-rise ankle is perfect for my need of a little extra ankle support. They are very light weight, flexible, and have better forefoot cushion than the Studio Flex. The light weight aspect helps me feel light on my feet as I work through intense or complicated choreography. I use these daily for high intensity advanced step aerobics and kick boxing. I personally would like still more forefoot cushioning. As I wear them, I will probably buy a better insert to help with the cushioning. Overall, I am very pleased with them!
