Overall these boots are very cute and stylish, they are also very high quality. However, I agree with the previous reviewer (who I should\'ve listened to), the ankles are really big on these shoes. I didn\'t so much mind that they were big, it just became a problem after I started wearing them because the ankle part bunched up and irritated the back of my ankle, giving me scabs. Also, I ordered the wide size and it felt very narrow to me.

Great riding boot! Classic styling with the straight shaft and low heel. Wearable all day. Fantastic with longer velvet skirts, pretty dresses. Not good for tucking in jeans or riding pants...out of the box I had trouble zipping them up my wide calves. However, once zipped, I made the leap of faith to wear them to work (not returnable after wear) and they were great all day long. Next wearing they zipped right up...and I have been loving them ever since! Prognosis: if you can zip 'em up that first time, they will soften and become your face riding boot. Cankles, you say? Yea, a bit wide in the ankle, and they fold a bit there, but then they aren't supposed to fit the leg like a glove/stocking. Meant to be rather straight and not curvy. I'm giving them a very good rating.

Nice boots...but because the toebox is somewhat pointed they are going back. I ordered a 13W and I usually wear a 12W but these fit well but they taper in the toe more than other similar low heel black boots. Good and roomy in the shank for those of us blessed with larger calves. These are also dressier than Tate or Clarks similar style because of the tapered toe and a smoother finish to the leather. Really nice, I wish they had worked!

They fit! I think they are very comfy and look nice! I am very pleased with Zappos' service. The first pair of boots I tried were too small in the shaft. Well, no problem with Zappos! They make it so easy! Love these boots! Will buy in brown if they are restocked. Thank you, Zappos for carrying the wide shaft boots. Some of us need that!

I bought these boots in dark brown and they were the most comfortable boots ever that I immediately bought them in black as well! The brown leather was softer and the black boots fit a bit snugger. All in all, they are also comfortable and since I have trouble finding boots that fit a wide calf and are comfortable I am totally sold! I would love to get them in a chestnut color if they came that way.

This boot fit great! I measure a 17 1/2 inch calf, and these fit perfect in the 8WW! Previous reviewers stated they bunched up at the ankles, and I did find they do not really at all, maybe I have more of a cankle? The leather is not the best quality, it is a little stiff, but it is leather non the less, and these were the most reasonably priced for a leather boot.

I love this boot. Very stylish and comfortable. I have a 16" calf, and the shaft of these fit me perfectly. The size and width I ordered also fit very well. Unfortunately, I am short, 5' 1". The height of the shaft hits just behind my knee when I sit down, which is not comfortable. Because of this, I'll be sending them back. If they make this boot with a shaft that's about an inch shorter, I'm all in.

I love these boots! They fit perfectly, a little wide in the calf but I don't mind that at all. They look fab with long skirts and you can tuck your jeans into them, too. The smooth finish gives them a very equestrian look and the money that was spent was well worth it. Zappos' service and shipping is exceptional and I'm going to be shopping with them again for sure.

Boot fit well over my 16" calves, but I felt the toe box in front was a bit too narrow and pinched my little toes. It would be fine for someone that doesn't require a wider toe box.

I absolutely love these boots. They're comfortable and true to size. The shaft is wide enough and the width of the foot is wide enough for a thick sock. I love these boots. The only thing I changed was the heel. It had a plastic heel which can be slippery, so I took them to a shoe repair shop and had a rubber heel put on. They're great now.

I would change the description of this boot to EXTRA Wide Calf. I have wide calf boots from Gabriella Rocha and they fit, these were huge around my runner's calf. Also, they look better in the photo. The boot is quality, but the leather is not shiny and the heel is a very funny height, should either be lower or higher. Instead of looking like stylish riding boots, they remind me of an orthopedic shoe. I have returned them. The search for a pair of black leather boots for this season continues.

Nice looking boot, but the wide shaft was too wide for my 15.5 inch calves. Boot was too narrow for me in the forefoot, as I have a neuroma. (I usually wear a 7EE or 7EEE and had ordered a 7.5 EE in this.)

I am quite happy with these versatile quality boots; I've been wearing them several days a week since I bought them. In person, they come off as sleek, classic, and simple. The shaft is wide enough for me to be able to tuck skinny jeans into them but I most often wear them with skirts, both short and long. I do feel like they run a bit narrow. I bought the W but probably could have used the WW.

Love these boots. The Wide shaft is perfect me and they look amazing. Only slight downside...they have no foot padding but I just bought an insert, cut it to size and put it in and these are perfect now. Highly recommend.

Third time was not a charm, unfortunately. I've been looking for low-heeled knee-high boots for ages. Because of my athletic calves, I've never been able to find a leather boot to fit. I have some great, pull on Franco Sarto high heel boots, but the shaft is synthetic, stretchy leather-looking material -- they are comfy and very sexy, but not ideal for tromping around potentially icy city sidewalks in winter. I wanted something similar, but with low to no heel. I wear shoes between 7.5-8.5 depending on brand, shoe materials, and heel height. The widest part of my calf is 17.5 inches (at around an 11 inch high from the ground), but my ankle is only 9 inches. At about 15 inches from the ground, my upper calf is 16 inches. Despite the reviews warning against cankles and such, I ordered a 7.5 WW in these boots (My 3rd Zappos boot-shopping attempt this month). The boot itself is pretty plain, so no high marks on style, and something easily excused for "the right fit". I was super excited when these boots zipped up. I found the toe box width perfect, but with every step I took, the heel support rocked up and down and let me know that even with socks, the inside would be rubbing at my ankle all day long. These boots were definitely loose at the ankles -- perfect close fit at the widest part of my calf, and about an inch too big at the top. Could have lived with open part at the top if it weren't for the cankles. What sealed the return, however, was my husband's assessment that the sole of the shoe is essentially just a slim piece of rubber -- he was right. I'm certain I'd have felt the cold pavement under my feet right through these soles. Because of this last point, it'll be a return and not an exchange for a slimmer size.

This is a nice leather boot that looks expensive. I have an 18" calf and this boot fit with my pants tucked in (the pants have very thin fabric - I probably could not tuck in a thicker fabric pant).

Ugly boots! I have large ankles, but these boots were extremely huge and had a droopy appearence in the ankle area. On a positive note, they did fit my 16.5 calves with plenty of room to spare.
