I normally wear a size 10 in man's shoes (size 11.5 or 12 in woman's), and I ordered that size in this boot. It feels rather large with mid-weight socks on, and I suspect I will be returning it soon for a smaller size if available. On the other hand, it is lightweight and appears durably constructed. There was ample room for my big calves + pants tucked into it. I'm giving it four stars because I can't actually try it out in the mucky snowy weather I bought it for, but it seems like it would work if my feet were a bit bigger! I like its clean lines and no doo-dads or toggles or pull straps to get stuck on things.

This is a great utility boot - designed for slohsing around in messy conditions. I use mine when shoveling out from under the 18 feet of snow we got this year and when I'm out hunting waterfowl. Since they're supposed to be used in mucky environments, I don't really care how they look, but for what it counts, I think that they look good enough. These boots are absolutly waterproof, keeping my socks and feet nice and dry. The neoprene upper keeps my feet warm in the snow. They are slightly roomy, enough that you can comfortably curl your toes in them. These boots have very little in the way of cushioning or arch support. This would normally wouldn't be a good thing, but with what I'm doing while wearing them, I want to feel what I'm standing on, and kind of prefer less padding. My only real con to list is that the pull-up tabs in the back of the boot could be a little stronger. I popped the sticthing on the right boot using the tap to pull it up. I replaced mine with a little nylon webbing from a discount craft store, and problem solved.

About Roper
In recognition of a lifetime of contributions to the industry, Sam Mandelbaum’s peers named him to the Western Image Awards Hall of Fame in August of 2003. The leadership of Karman Inc. is now in the hands of Sam’s son, Gary Mandelbaum. Gary shares his father’s vision for growth and continues to make the corporation successful. Karman Inc. is unique in the industry of being one of the only Western apparel and footwear manufacturers and distributors for Roper brands. In January of 1986 under the design leadership of Nancy Leavitt, the company launched the Roper brand with a big splash at the Denver market. Acceptance for the brand was immediate from retailers and consumers alike. A few short years later in 1993, Roper again broke the mold when it introduced its own line of footwear called Horseshoes, unique hybrid combining tennis shoes with boots. Roper managed to create a new niche in the footwear market. Today, the footwear category accounts for about 40 percent of Roper’s total sales volume.
Whether you are looking for casual shoes or hard working boots, Roper has got you covered. Roper designs and manufactures a wide array of boots and shoes for every aspect of the modern cowboy’s life.
