About Replay
REPLAY received its name from a world soccer match that took place in 1978, when creator, Claudio Buziol registered the Replay brand name after seeing the word ‘replay’ repeatedly over the TV screen.
At the time, Claudio was designing casual shirts; Replay jeans would follow. He then met Renzo Rosso and Adriano Goldschmied in his hometown of Asolo, which is near Venice, Italy. Together, they collaborated and created a laboratory for treating denim. The three men were known as the “Jeanius Team” and it was like a “Silicon Valley of jeans” located at the center of the Italian Alps.
Eventually, Claudio created Replay, Renzo produced Diesel, and Adriano moved on to various jean ventures. Being the renaissance man of the group, Claudio was always thinking ahead of his time. Consumed by his craft, as a painter is to his canvas, he invented the double ring denim, special stitching, and many other novelties that make denim so loveable today.
Claudio dreamed that the denim world would evolve and change with premium washes and unique treatments to create a worn-in look, with stylish patches and dazzling bead details. This is reflected in Replay’s high-end line, We Are Replay, which is a spectacular collection famously known as the “red carpet” Replay jeans.
As a major force in the casual clothing industry, Replay apparel is present in over 220 stores with 6,000 points of sale scattered over 50 countries worldwide. Today, Replay clothing and company wholeheartedly embrace the spirit that Claudio inspired.
