Overall, great boot. The boots definitely run large. I wear a 13, bought these in a 12, and they fit great. They are a little narrow as well. Also: the color I bought was called "Amber", but is really more like a dark brown in my opinion. They take a bit to break in, not a boot you can wear out of the box for an entire day or shift. I wore them around the house for an hour or two for three days and after that they were fine. They could be worn for work, or for a casual night out. This is my second pair of Red Wings and I highly recommend this boot.

These are great boots. I love them. The leather is amazing and they are very comfortable. I will say that they run big. I usually wear 12s or 13s (always have to get 13s in Nikes, if that helps) and had to get an 11.5 in these, and I still could probably go with an 11 and be just fine. These look great with a nice pair of khakis. Very classic look. Excellent boot, a little pricey but I highly recommend.

Great for work & happy hour, too! Really well-made, stylish boot. From an owner of solely Dr Marten's, these boots are a nice change of pace. They're as sturdy as Doc's but a little more refined in the fit and finish. I almost bought another pair in the lighter color as well, but managed to restrain myself. I'm looking forward to trying other Red Wing boots in the future, but I'll never be far from my Docs!

These shoes run 1 size too big and are extremely narrow. I suggest regular width customers get the 2E width. I ordered an 11 and they were huge. So I got a 10, but then they were too narrow.

Short review:\r\n-Not really D width more like C but will stretch to fit D and in my case EE. Why was this popular boot not offered in Wide?\r\n-Order only half a size down if you have wide feet\r\n-Boots insole is not ideal after stretching to an EE foot gaps appear between the boot sides and the insole that cause discomfort. Correctable with some thin leather insoles or custom leather ones.\r\n-Not usable with a Superfeet insole, its already a very low volume boot.\r\n-Great laces.\r\n-Good polishable leather, be careful with the white stitches.\r\n-Moderately arched built in leather insole.\r\n-The shank although steel is only a very narry flimsy half shank. There is a lot of sole flex.\r\n-Heavy duty as casual shoes go, but not tough enough for extreme conditions.\r\n-Rubber commando sole and neoprene heel are long lasting, but marking.\r\n\r\nLong review:\r\nI am measured 11.5 EE on a Brannock Device, in the morning. However after a long days walk, work, being on a plane etc. My feet swell larger to maybe 12 and maybe even a little bit wider. I ordered 10.5, a full size down. This turns out to be a mistake for me as I hadn\'t realized that these shoes lose some length as the leather flexes and the sole curves a tiny bit in addition to the whole magical foot growth. These boots a year later are now a little too short. ORDER HALF A SIZE DOWN is my recommendation for wide footers. Another thing to note of these boots is that their shank is only a flimsy tiny half shank. I can take the boot in my hands and flex the sole easily. They do not provide a lot of stiff support you will need if you expect to walk over rough terrain. After doing an over night on the Appalachian Trail in these my arches and toes cried out because they were not supported by the flimsy shank. I can\'t speak for construction work, but if they cannot stand up to packing alot of weight in mild back country conditions I doubt they would do well in the construction yard.\r\n\r\n

I bought these in black last month and have gotten nothing but compliments when it comes to these boots. Really sharp looking and they clean up very nicely with a little mink oil. I walk about 2 miles a day throughout my commute and, as can be expected, there was an uncomfortable break-in period, but after about two weeks these shoes were very comfortable.

This shoe was perfect. Roomy enough in the toes not to bother foot issues and soft leather so no rubbing. Comfortable right out of the box, no breaking in required.

I have worn Rockport\'s waterproof boots for years. For some reason, they have stopped making their classic chukka-style boot. I decided to try these Nevis boots from Red Wing and have been pleased with them so far. They are not quite as high as the Rockports and did not initially feel as comfortable, but they are breaking in nicely.

This is a very well made shoe. It is definitely waterproof and the details that they put in are great. The leather treatment was slightly smelly at first, but it went away pretty quickly. Look great with jeans.

I love the idea of the entire Lifestyle/Heritage Red Wing line. But unfortunately most are not available in the wide widths i\'ve come to enjoy from Red Wing. These would be perfect for someone with a narrow to average foot. I tried to accommodate for my wide foot by purchasing a longer size, but unfortunately they never were even close to fitting. Also if you\'re use to cushion insoles this may not be for you. However, if you can get past that these boots are an excellent find. Great style and quality construction.

Very lightweight shoe. Has a soft leather upper and a long-wearing sole. Extremely comfortable as I wear them all the time. They do not make my legs and feet feel tired. Extremely pleased with this shoe. I have owned Red Wings before and they lasted a long time. Very well made. The only problem I had was the web site offered them in AA width and received a B (narrow) width. Contacted Customer Service and they responded quickly. Said that was the only way the came in a narrow width. They were very helpful and courteous. One of the best Customer Service I've talked to. I was afraid they only came in a B width as I had checked them out at a local store. Nothing seriously wrong. They work and a lot better than what I have been getting. These are the closest fit I can find. Everybody else has D and occasional C width. Having a soft leather upper makes it impossible to polish to a high gloss finish. All in all I am very pleased with these and will definitely buy again. Thanks to my wife who recommended Zappos.

These boots caught my eye in a cool boutique and then I ordered them on Zappos. They are unique for being rugged while looking sophisticated. The chestnut leather is high quality and can even be polished. Based on reviews I tried three sizes. If you like an after-market footbed (like I do) in your boots, a half size smaller is all you need to go. If you wear boot-socks in winter with these, you will actually need a little extra room. Comfortable right out of the box.

Awesome boots. I bought a few pairs of Red Wings for considerations and kept these as the favorite. They are totally a full size larger than marked. Supple (amazingly fragrant) leather, nice details. Really authentic feeling.

These shoes are casual, comfortable, cool, and classy! I wore them on my Euro-trip. You can pair them up with jeans, they are comfortable for walking hours on end through cobblestone streets. They are also cool enough to wear during the summer heat. Finally they are classy enough to wear out to a dinner joint. Enjoy! The only downside is that they are easily blemished.

These are great boots - for a while! Eric Clapton wore these boots when he was a young man (before he switched to Doc Martens). So these are sort of a "reissue" boot. Main problem: The crepe soles wear down VERY quickly, and you will need them resoled about once a year or so. No big deal, but I have Red Wing boots that are 30 years old that have never needed repair. So in the context of Red Wing, this little beauties are a bit too "hot house flower" - they need a lot of care.

These shoes are just beautiful. The styling is timeless, the construction is top notch, and the materials are excellent. I just got mine today and have been wearing them around New York. Based on some of the other reviews I've read out there, I expected to have them be pretty stiff and tough to break in. On the contrary, they are buttery and soft and have loved walking around in them. (Full disclosure, I popped a SuperFeet grey insole set in them before I took them out on the town.) Here's the most important thing about ordering them online, they run very BIG. I usually wear a 10. The 9.5 was way too big. The 9 is great but I still have a bit of room in the toe. They are long boots and the sizing feels very off. I'd definitely order at least a half size or even full size smaller than you usually do to avoid exchanges, etc.Hoping for years of wear! As always, Zappos is the best about returns, exchanges, etc.

Well, there's no doubt about it these Heritage Work Boots look great and are made to last, for this price they ought to be. My one complaint is the lack of cushion in the sole, and literally no arch support to speak of. I had to insert supports to make the boot more comfortable, makes a world of difference. Hard to imagine a company that's as established as Red Wing would make a work/casual boot that's lacking in this department, especially at this price. But, if you can get past that then you won't be disappointed. Like I said, looks great and the workmanship is top notch. I wear a size 10 and it feels true to size.

A great pair of boots to have - Saw this boot in this month's Mens Health and Fitness magazine in an article about JCrew clothing and found that I liked the look. The boots fit well and wear well as stated in the MHF article they look good with jeans or casual pants. My retired mechanic father used to wear these as work boots. I highly recommend them.

Great looking shoe. Not great arch support for those of us with high arches, but that was easily corrected with an orthotic.\r\n\r\nThe high back part of the shoe around the ankle, cuts into the back of my leg since it\'s not cushioned at all. I\'m hoping this breaks in with wear. Anyone know a way to help with this? It\'s been awhile since I\'ve worn a shoes that needs breaking in, so maybe I\'m just not used to that.\r\n\r\nI\'m really hoping they\'ll be more comfortable after a few wearings.\r\n\r\nTop-notch service from Zappos, as usual: thank you!

I bought my Red Wing GTs in June. I had read every post to determine if these were the right shoes and to get advice on the size. I love the style and wanted something rugged yet nice. All of the posts are accurate in terms of the size being larger than industry norm. I measured my foot and it came out to be 11, so I ordered a 10 1/2 . It was still too large. I went ahead and ordered a 9 1/2 and it fit snug. My toes and heel are perfect, there's enough room there for them. The middle was way snug and someone posted to get them snug and they will adjust to your feet. I was leery to get them, but they are the right choice. I too recommend to get them snug and they will loosen up. Mine took about 2 weeks wearing them almost every single day for them to get comfortable. I was thinking that I made a mistake, but nope, these are the right size and getting them snug is the way to go. There was some excess leather right at the inside of my ankle and it killed, so I cut out a small piece of the tongue and the pain stopped. That's all there was to it. It was right where the tongue met the eyelet hole area up near the top right at the inside of my ankle. These boots are the best. I ordered black because I figured they would be more appropriate for wearing for business on casual days. I usually wear a 10 1/2 and so ordering this much smaller made me a little nervous in that I was worried that if I kept them and they didn't loosen up, then I would be stuck with some great boots that were the wrong size. So for me, I made sure that my toes and heel were not bound and that only the middle was snug as someone mentioned. And as always, Zappos is absolutely the best in terms of customer service. I ordered them on a Friday night and they arrived on Monday! The returns arrived in 2 days, the day after I sent back the first order. And of course I was concerned about the cost, but for me, I won't need to get another shoe like this for a while and since they're leather, I can clean the dirt/dust off easily. In all, these boots are truly worth it for the cost. Just make sure that your toes and heel are fine and then the middle will loosen up and they'll feel great. Thanks.

Really nice boot. However, I did return them. One of the boots had a really annoying loud "pop" when walking originating somewhere in the forefoot. Not only could you feel it, but it was quite loud; didn't want to risk this being something that would not go away after a while after spending so much money on this boot. Only wore in the house on carpet; however, did seem like they were going to put me through some serious torture getting worn in, but everyone says they are great once they reach that worn in state. As for the fit, they really seemed to run relatively true to size for me; however, 1/2 size down would perhaps have fit better. Going to keep my eye on them to see if the price drops, at which time I just may give them another try. Zappos rules, brotha.

I have had these boots for about 3 weeks now and they are pretty well broken in. Some things to think about before purchasing these boots. Several reviewers have mentioned that you may want to order a size smaller than you normally would as these are pretty big, but think about this before you decide on the size you want. There is no cushion in the boots at all. The foot area is all leather. Some people like their boots this way, but if you have bad knees or arches you may want to stay with your normal size. When I received mine and put them on for the 1st time they where big with a lot of room left over. Since I have bad knees I have padding and arch supports that I normally put in my shoes and boots. When I installed these in the boots they (the boots) fit perfectly, if I had ordered a size smaller I would have had problems with them possibly being too tight. If you don't use any padding for your feet, then you will want to order a size smaller. I love the look and feel of these boots. I was lucky to catch these on sale for a great price a few weeks ago and they are worth it. Also please note that the bottom of the sole has no tread. If you want this style of boot with tread then you may want the Redwing Beckman 6" Classic Round Boot, this has a tread pattern on the sole. The fast service and shipping from Zappos was also fantastic. Ordered them online, was sent and email saying that they would be sent overnight for free and got them the next day; you can't beat that type of service.
