Almost imperceptible difference between the 8, 8.5 and 9. And the width is definitely not an M; a AA is more like it. Just ordered the 9.5 (and feeling really bad about the shipping) and keeping fingers crossed that they'd fit because I fell in love with the style. I especially like the heels, otherwise I would have given the Dacey in the same collection.
Brands I'd also recommend: Marc Jakobs, Michael Kors, Chloe, Tory Burch

These are sexy and beautiful with rich color that is flattering to my skin. They feel like 4" heels - so be ready for that. But, they are really narrow - my feet would not fully go into the toe and the footbed was not wide enough, either. I do not have this problem with other brands. Be aware that the buckle only adjusts the ankle strap, not the heel strap, so the length is fixed which makes getting them on a bit tough. They also seem to run slightly short. They are so lovely that I am crying because I have to return them.

I measured the 8.5 and 8 and they were exactly the same. Very narrow and short. The band across the toe area squished toes together so much they cross, very unhealthy and uncomfortable! It also ends before bunion area of the foot, so the band digs into that bone. I do not have a wide foot M but my foot hung over the footbed of the shoe. It is such a lovely style it's too bad Ralph Lauren was so careless in the sizing!
