This boot has a very rigid wrap around ankle support. It felt good on one foot but hurt the other foot, it pressed into the back of my heel. I did like the gray color. It seems to me like Propet`s quality is slipping. Too bad because it is one of the brands that provide wide shoes.

It is difficult to find wide, let alone, double wide hiking boots. I ordered a 7WW and held it up to my existing boots that are a regular 7. The Propet looked narrow in comparison. I walked 1/2 mile and had to head back to the car because my feet were so uncomfortable. I ended up returning the boots.

I love the look of this shoe, but it is not a true 4E. If you need a 2E, order the the 4E and hopefully it will fit you.
Brands I'd also recommend: New Balance if you need a wide shoe

I absolutely love these boots. I was looking for more classic, non-athletic looking hiking boots, and these were them. I had purchased a pair of Propet winter boots and was really pleased so I gave this pair a shot. They are comfortable from day one, no breaking-in period. I like them so much that I wear them for more than just hiking. I am super pleased. I have the black pair, and the leather looks more solid black with areas that look more broken-in/worn, rather than the mottled look that the boots have in the photo. I ordered a size 12W and felt they were very true to size. I usually wear 11-11½, so these I can wear with heavy hiking socks and they fit perfectly.

For the first time ever, I am extremely disappointed in a pair of Propet footwear. I had to order these in a 7.5 ww - closest to my size, and based on reviews, thought it would work. Well, they are too long - the heel very sloppy, but narrower than a ww should be - especially from Propet (had many pairs of footwear from them). I could not get the ankle tight enough to hold the foot in place, and I used the top hook. Which was another problem - the laces did not want to stay on the boot, but rather on my leg. A further problem, Propet did not wrap these hikers very well and there were black marks on the boots before anyone had worn them, and a small chunk out of the leather on one toe. These are going back. Zappos - you need to make sure the companies you are getting footwear from are keeping up their standards - if not, refuse to sell their products.
