Unfortunately, this mat is slippery. I'm not sure what it's finished with, but even after three serious yoga sessions, my toes and fingers were slipping. I couldn't deal, so had to return. Gave 3 stars since everything else was amazing.

I ordered this mat directly from Manduka. (Should have checked Zappos first. You cannot beat free shipping and free shipping returns!) And although I loved the support of this mat and I loved the color, I did not love the weight of it. 7 pounds does not seem like much but because I teach I carry around 2 mats with me and it felt like a ton of bricks on my shoulder. I started yoga because of back problems so it seems counterproductive to haul around a really heavy mat. If you keep a mat in your housestudio and it's always there then I highly recommend this mat. It's heavy, it stays in place, it has a life time guarantee, the support is amazing and you'll never go back to thin non-rubber mats again. But to pack around...too heavy for me. I returned it and am ordering the Manduka Pro-lite.

I really wanted to love this mat, but it didn't work out for me. I scrubbed it with salt as they suggested and after daily use for a month I slipped to the point of falling three times during my practice. Yesterday I fell and it wasn't even a heated classroom, and nor was I sweating much. I did purchase the manduka yoga towel for my hot vinyasa classes and that didn't work out too well. The towel bunches quite a bit requiring my adjusting it a minimum of two or three times during my practice. Compared to my other mats the Manduka has about the same cushioning and the mat is very stable with respect to staying in place on the floor. I just wish I had stayed stable.

Tried the salt scrub, dried thoroughly and slipped not even during regular practice but just when I'm working on a particular pose. During my hot vinyasa workouts even with the Manduka towel I was not grounded. I'm really torn about keeping it because it's beautiful and provides a lot of cushion. They say it gets better with time, but if I can't practice on it I'm not sure how that's going to work.

Save your money! Manduka claims (after you receive the mat) that there is some sort of film that makes the mat initially a little slippery, but that it comes off in a little while. Well, I tried using this mat in a DRY environment, and was not sweating in the least, and I was sliding all over this mat. Upon further research, Manduka claims that this film wears off . . . after daily usage of three months! I can't even practice for three minutes without my hands sliding across it in downward dog! And I see NO evidence of any sort of film. I bought this mat because I couldn't take my Lululemon with me, and they don't ship to APO addresses. I teach yoga to soldiers, and had to cancel my class because I couldn't use my own mat! And at this price, there is NO excuse. Zappos is fabulous, as always, but this mat is going back.
