First some history. I am over 50 and overweight. I have tried many other good brands of shoes for my Orange Theory workout and for long walks and runs. I ended up with shin splints soar knees and a pulled Achilles. Then I bought these Hokas. I cannot even begin to express the difference in how every part of my lower body appreciates these shoes! I will never spend another dime on any other kind of running shoes. They are worth every penny if you want to stay active without damaging your body.

Brands I'd also recommend: None. Hoka is the best!

These shoes were recommended to me by a family member who said with my foot issues Hokas may get me off the couch and into fitness again. I found them at a running store and tried them out in March 2014. I have literally not put a shoe on my foot since 2009 that I didn't have to talk myself into by saying "maybe it'll stretch" or "maybe it'll get better." Trying on the Hokas was the first time in 5 years I was able to lace them, stand up and not feel pain or discomfort in my left foot. I had surgery on my great toe and the end result has basically been a fused great toe joint that doesn't flex and is painful in virtually every shoe. The Hokas have me walking and jogging again. I am a big believer and keep several pair to rotate through. I stand for hours at a time and have energy left at the end of the day to walk or run several miles. Happy!

While I have received many compliments on these shoes, I think that they are rather ugly BUT I LOVE THEM! My poor feet need lots of cushion...I ruined them by wearing minimalist shoes. I use them on a treadmill. They are very stable. Despite it's looks, I would purchase another pair. Note: I have a wide foot but these seem to be fine for me.

I have a recent history of foot problems (fractured metatarsal, hallux rigidus surgery, and a high ankle sprain, all on the same foot), with on-going residual pain. These shoes somehow manage to make my hypermobile feet behave as they are supposed to, while also providing great, non clutzy stability. They feel weightless on my feet, and the double-mesh uppers make them very cool. With a pair of SmartWool Hide and Seek socks, my normally overheated feet stay dry and comfortable, even now in the July heat. I like the speed laces; easy on and off. I picked the coral color and am glad I did: it's not as bright as it appears in the photos; it is almost a kind of bronzed apricot, though definitely still coral. It actually works almost as a neutral color (at least for the summer). I have been wearing these shoes for a couple of weeks now (just everyday wear, no running), and, while I am wearing them, I have no pain. My feet feel normal for the first time in years. I wear a 7½ street shoe and ordered the same size in these; they fit perfectly, with zero break-in required. I very seldom review products, but these have made such a difference for me that I wanted to pass the word along to others suffering from unresolved foot pain. They may or may not work for you, but they are definitely worth a try!

The MOST comfortable sneakers around, hands down. Pricey? Yes. But well worth it. I have arthritis in my toes and the cushioning in these sneakers allows me to participate in a lot more sport than I can in ordinary sneakers. They are "clunky" so that can throw some peor off.

I am a former marathon runner with psoriatic arthritis. I do a lot of walking but sometimes have plantar fascia pain even in some of my favorite shoes so I thought I'd give these a try. So far they are like walking on clouds! I'm not sure I'll ever attempt running again but these shoes might just spur me to do so. I normally wear 6-6.5 in street shoes (often 7 in Asics or Brooks running shoes - I buy neutral cushioned shoes). The 6 in this model fits me with thin running socks so it's definitely a little longer/wider than your average running shoe. I will likely get away with skipping socks as well when it's particularly hot (I live in Houston). Very pleased with my purchase.

These are cushy beyond belief, but they can be improved with new laces and a little more padding around the ankle, so four not five stars. I have plantar fasciitis and severe arthritis in both knees. I do not run, but I wear running shoes unless at home (then usually wear Haflinger clogs). During my most recent pain flare-up, I got an email advertising these shoes and after some research decided to try them. They are cushy, but they come with laces that cannot be removed, so trying them on with a wide forefoot is difficult (I have a narrow heel). I finally cut off the laces and put in the regular shoe laces that also came with them and was pleased with the results. I think I should have gotten one size smaller, but I wear very thick socks with them (I wear a 7 in street shoes, so an 8 in trainers; could go with a 7½ in these shoes). These shoes are almost zero drop, so anyone not used to zero or minimal drop will need to follow directions. I do think that the padding around the ankle could be a little thicker - there is a very stiff section on the inside just at the ankle that bothers me sometimes. No blisters, just a little too stiff and hard for my very sensitive feet. I'm alternating with a pair of Altra Paradigms that I just got to see which I like better. The Paradigms are more padded around the foot and similarly zero drop and cushy, but not quite as cushy as the Bondis. I have not had any plantar fascia pain with either shoe even without the Superfeet greens I always use in trainers.

Brands I'd also recommend: Altra Zero Drop; Haflinger clogs

A great shoe for training and running long distances. Once I got the rocking motion of the shoe down, I found my legs moved by themselves, I got into the running zone much faster and more easily. This model Bondi does feel larger than the last model-- wider and longer. They would be perfect for me, except for a blistering problem on the side of the big toe joint (widest part of my foot). I have very wide feet; if you have normal width feet, you should have no problem with these shoes.

I bought the Hoka Bondi last year and liked them. The pair I got last month keep irritating my right ankle. It is stiff and digs into the ankle area. I keep waiting for it to loosen up but it doesn't seem to be happening. I also do not like the easy lace system. You have to keep tightening the laces. Bring back last years model!

Unfortunately I do not like these shoes at all. I feel I have a right to this opinion as I have completely warn out 2 other pairs of Hoka One One Bondi's. I have been wearing them since late 2011. Loved those pairs and would tell every runner I know to buy them for all the reasons they say on their website. This pair is so uncomfortable. They changed it a lot from the last design. The upper has this plastic layer over all of it that is very inflexible and pinches my toes. The shoes used to feel like a glove and like they weren't there. Now I can't stop thinking about how uncomfortable they are. Also, the tongue slips down because the material that contacts your foot at the end of the tongue is too stiff. Even with using the lace loop. I am so disappointed I spent money on these shoes and I hate wearing them. I also tried the Hoka One One Conquests before these and they fit my feet worse than these! I have been running for 30 years and know a lot about running shoes. Hoka One One needs to change their shoes back to the way they were. I cannot recommend them to anyone now.

The support is amazing. I truly feel like I'm wearing marshmallows. The shoes are extremely wide and the bottoms of my feet rub so they are not comfortable for more than 3 miles. I would've returned them if I could have.

I am new to Hoka so these seemed really huge and wide and very high. I ordered down a half size and still too boat-like. I ordered the trail shoe model and they are narrower and have a lower profile, so I am sticking with those.
