I have these in the wine vernice and they are beautiful, but my feet aren't so thrilled. They're a little tight across the ball of my foot, although I don't have particularly wide feet. Also, around the top of the shoe leather is folded over and sewn down, making a seam that rubs mercilessly at the top of my heel. It is very strange. I feel that most shoes would have a lining that covers this seam so that the inner surface is smooth, but these do not. They look best worn without socks, but then they squeak in a most ridiculous manner and the heel-rub problem is much worse. And finally, this shouldn't come as a surprise but the patent leather doesn't breathe much, so get ready for some humid toesies.

I bought these in patent leather, last year about this time, maybe a month earlier. I loved them, then, and continue to love them now. I would like to figure out how to get a pair in black leather. I no longer use credit cards. Do you ever think you might get brown swede?

I have three pairs of these shoes, so obviously I like them quite a bit. They are classic, comfortable and for an added bonus, they are weatherproof. No panic when you are out and it starts raining that you are going to ruin your favorite loafers. I wore the black patent pair all over London last Christmas. They were a foot-saver. The sole is thick so adds a bit of height, but even better, it keeps the cold pavement from seeping through. I would say the only drawback is that the cuff of the shoe is a teeny bit high and can hit my ankle - a problem easily solved with a small heel pad. Other than that (and is the flaw mine or the shoe's?) this is a perfect traveling, walking, daily, go-to shoe.

Oh Darn. Another return. I liked the idea of these, the nice soft uppers, the beautiful ridged soles, the nice padding. But my toes are extremely sensitive. There was plenty of height to the toe box, but my big toes just didn't have quite enough (sideways?) room in this style.

Absolutely love these shoes. Stylish and comfortable. They do have a little squeak that hopefully will go away as they get broken in. An update for that classic loafer look, works for casual and dressier pants.

I absolutely love this shoe. I bought it right before a conference held in a city which had rain in the forecast for the entire duration of my visit. I walked miles and miles in the rain. These shoes are indeed waterproof and so comfortable. Not to mention how many compliments on how they look. I am a big fan of LaCanadienne; they never have disappointed me. I will be buying another pair of these soon.

These are among the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. They are attractive, warm and lightweight. The sole is thick enough to provide height while still being insanely comfortable. My only quibble is that the patent leather on my first pair started to crack and peel in places after 6 months. I called Zappos and they took the first pair back, sending me a new pair immediately. Amazing customer service! The new ones are doing fine and have not cracked.

I already have a pair of La Canadienne Halle loafers and struggled with whether I could justify another pair. But these are just so versatile. In the DC area we have a lot of sloppy but not really snowy weather and these are wonderful in anything that's less than 2" of snow, including ice. Yet they're sharp enough to wear with my professional clothes. I'm careful to wipe off any salt or residue as soon as I'm inside. So yes, these are an investment, but if you need to walk a good bit in the winter and still want to look pulled together doing it, these are worth it. The silver chain on my black vernice is darker and less shiny than it appears in these pictures but I actually prefer the slightly darker cast.

Love, love, love these shoes! I was nervous spending so much but they are worth every dollar. Wore for 5 days straight over Thanksgiving in Boston (cold, rainy) on college tours, walked over 5 miles each day and my feet and back never hurt--and they always hurt after a day of walking! I have high arches and these fit perfect. Can wear with or without socks.

This shoe was perfect right out of the box! Love the color (wine), love the style, love the fit. I thought the shoes might be heavy because of the lug sole, but they are super light and a joy to walk in. This is my first pair of La Canadienne shoes and they won't be my last.

I border between 6.5 and 7 and ordered the 7 based on reviews - they're slightly large. I love anything by La Canadienne and only have boots so I was excited to try their loafers. They're excellent. A beautiful shade of dark taupe, they're extremely comfortable and perfect for travel because they weigh NOTHING. I have worn them without socks and there is no noise but I do wear either a Dr Scholls arch support or a custom orthotic. I'm thrilled to have these and thankful Zappos carries so many styles of La Canadienne.

These shoes are very expensive and I rarely spend more than $150 on a pair of shoes. However these are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I work in NYC and have to walk all the time. These shoes so far have been holding up. I read they run narrow. So, I ordered the wider size. They fit great. They are lightweight, beautiful, comfortable, stylish and durable. Yes, I will save my money and buy more La Canadiennes in the future.

Great fall into winter shoe. This is my 4th pair of La Canadiennes. I wear a 7-7.5 in most shoes, and take a 7.5 in this brand. As with my other three pairs, the shoes are extremely comfortable, warm, and elegant. They require no break-in period. They are worth the investment if you want a clearly well-made and durable shoe that wears well among many different styles. A classic shoe on track with current trends.

Quite deceiving. When I first saw them out of the box I was sure they'd be too narrow but in fact they felt comfortable width-wise, however I had not worn this brand of shoe before & will be upping it to an 8.5 as it feels just a tad short and being as I'll be wearing them in the winter months I'll need room for thicker socks. But overall I liked them.

Chunky loafers are fashionable and how lucky they are also practical and comfortable! For my feet the roomy toe box in this shoe is perfect. The mocha sueded leather is an excellent go-with-everything color.

Classy, comfortable, and light! This is a great twist on the classic loafer. The chunky style makes them feel casual and hip, and the patent upper glosses up your entire ensemble. Best of all they are comfortable and light, you can wear them all day. Only took about 15 minutes for them to form to my foot. They are pretty much the perfect loafer.

I desperately needed a flat shoe to wear with slim ankle pants. I'm in fashion retail so my 8 hour feet are very visible. These boy meets girl babies did not disappoint! I purchased the only color available in my 8 and half size and truly this deep burgundy is more interesting than black. My customers continually ask about the shoes I wear and I'm so happy to pass along this label and of course Zappos incredible service!

I have a terrific pair of Gucci loafers, black suede with a lug sole, that I absolutely love. Unfortunately, they are over 10 years old and have seen better days! Gucci no longer makes that style and I have been searching high and low for a replacement and I am willing to pay for them if found. And now I have found them! These are so comfortable but a great looking classic style that I can wear to work or on the weekends. I am between a 7½ and 8 and went with the size 8 since I will be wearing them with socks this winter. The shoes are not heavy but very lightweight. They are expensive but worth the investment!

It took a few wears to get these broken in but it was totally worth it. I love the look of these chunky loafers, and the idea that these can double as foul weather gear just makes me love them more. I got the wine vernice and it's a very, very deep wine shade and very shiny, very distinctive. La Canadienne shoes aren't cheap in in my experience the wear and the versatility make them worthwhile.

This is a gorgeous shoe with a great fit. It is a bit snug across the top of the foot but still fits very well. I found it true to size. Like all La Canadienne shoes, it is made very well with a solid sole. I'm sure it's waterproof like all other shoes and boots I have purchased from this brand. Very happy with this purchase! Thanks, Zappos, for carrying such a wide variety of La Canadienne shoes and boots. This one is a winner for slacks and skinny jeans and leggings.

Beautiful shoe and quality, just what I need for Denver winters, but the heel cup is much too tall for my foot and I could tell it was going to be a long break in period resulting in sore, rubbed back ankles, so they are going back.

These are beautiful shoes that I really wanted to work, but they are just too narrow. I even tried a larger size, but that was still too tight. I have never had issue with width prior to this brand. I have average feet.

This is a gorgeous shoe in Wine Vernice, and as others have mentioned, it's lightweight. Looks like a dream, and if it had fit, it would have been worth its pricey price. I ordered my usual size 10, and I found that the heel slipped off too easily. I have that problem in 10% of shoes I try on, so if you're one of us, you might want to try these cute waterproof Pearl slipons from Bogs. (I bought the Bogs in 9.5 and they fit well and stay on.)
