I have been a runner for over half my life (I am 55). I now average about 30 to 35 miles per week. I also, unfortunately, have severe osteoporosis. I have had many many fractures (hips, ankle, tibia, fibula, femer, metatarsals, and heels)! Currently I am struggling with a case of plantar fasciitis. I have worn just about every shoe on the market at least once - with the exception of the Hoka One One (until NOW)! I just received my Hokas today, and I am blown away at the comfort they provide. My plantar fasciitis has greatly subsided with these shoes. They are light, yet provide the adequate stability I need. I am definitely hooked on Hokas! I ordered my regular size, and they fit true to form. I cannot wait to use them. Training will now be fun again! Also I just want to take a minute to say thank you to Zappos. They have, without a doubt, the best customer service on this planet! Thanks for making the process so easy, and quick. You have delivered on all your promises! If you are looking for something entirely different, in running shoes I would invite you to try Hoka One One. There are several different styles to choose from. Do not worry about how they look (a little clunky). They make up for it in performance! I hope this is of some help to those who are considering taking the Hoka plunge! Go for it! Best of luck to all.

Brands I'd also recommend: Any style of the Hoka One One brand.

I have bad bad feet and work on hard floors; by the end of the day I'm done. This is my second pair Hoka one one and won't be my last one - that's how great these shoes feel.

Miracle shoes! I am not exaggerating when I say purchasing these was life-changing for me. I am a 50 year-old female with wide feet and a large frame carrying about 50 extra lbs on it. I am very active and have been having major foot problems the last couple of years -- plantar fasciitis and a serious recent (6 month) heel bone bruise. The pain made it difficult to walk or do any aerobic exercise except biking. I have spent big money on treatment, including shock wave treatments not covered by insurance. My ortho told me about this shoe, recommended by a female patient my age who had competed in multiple triathlons. I immediately ordered a pair (had to get men's because of the width) and had instant relief for the first time in 6 months. I am not kidding -- the absence of heel pain was miraculous. I can use the Treadclimber again and I am going to start running after three years to get off the accumulated extra weight. I spend my entire day on my feet, carrying things, since I have been renovating a house for over a year. I have had orthotics, run in Saucony, New Balance, and Nike shoes and have never experienced anything like this. The next time I visited my ortho he had just had another middle-aged patient, male, who had the same problems I did, bought the Hoka and was so impressed he wants to invest in the company who makes them. I cannot say enough about them -- I tell everyone. I wear them to do everything now, despite their appearing huge on my already huge feet and bizarrely colored. I will never buy any other athletic shoe again. I just wish Hoka would make wide-width women's versions so I could at least wear feminine colors!

LOVE these sneakers! They are super comfortable. I have been wearing a 9 in other brands, but had to return for an 8 1/2, so I guess they do run a little on the large side. I am a hairdresser, on my feet all day, and bought them for the cushioning. I would definitely buy them again!

I wore these for a training run this past weekend in the Shenandoah Mountains. We ran 29 miles on Saturday and 19 on Sunday. The cushioning is good for long distances and it did just fine in the rocky and rooty terrain, which was slick, muddy, and wet. Love my Hokas. They will be my go-to shoe for the 100 miler I'm running in October.

I am a neutral to slightly underpronator with a slightly high arch, I average about 25 miles a week and am a little heavier than the average runner! I was afraid to buy these shoes without trying them on, but was desperate for a new pair of running shoes that would work for me after they discontinued my old favorite shoe. I have worn these shoes for the majority of my runs since October now & am ready for a new pair! I will probably not buy these again! I liked the lightness of the shoe & the color & felt the cushioning was adequate! However, tried the laces with the bungee system & could never get them tight enough. The only way to get rid of them was to cut them out! I tried to put the other laces, that were provided with the shoes, in but I had a very difficult time getting them back in & had to get a screw driver to try to jam them back into the too small leather holes. I don't like the tongue on the shoe, I have to tighten them pretty hard for the arch to feel right & then the tongue, which has no padding, rubs on the top of my foot! One of the arches seems to hit me wrong & I had to put new insoles in them to make them wearable! I have never had knee problem, but with running on the pavement have noticed some new pain. I think these shoes are very large and made me feel like I was wearing clown feet, but usually the ugliest shoe is the one that works best for me so...at first that didn't turn me away, but with the amount of money and the problems I have had with them I am on the hunt for a new running shoe again.

Cushy and comfortable. The tongue is fixed and can't be adjusted, which may be a comfort problem for some, but it was okay for me. I ordered a 6.5, my regular size, but think a 6.0 would have fit snugger, as my foot slips in the shoe a bit, when I run. I would order another pair of this brand as the cushion is super.

The shoe is lightweight and comfortable and runs true to size. I had two issues with the shoe: 1) the sole is so padded and elevated that I felt that I would twist my ankle every time I stepped down, and 2) the shoe is just not nice looking at all.

I wanted something with a thick sole for trail running, because my current trail runners, the orange Altras, don't have enough padding and started to hurt my feet. These shoes were incredibly light, are well built, and have great colors. Unfortunately, the sole and back of the heel felt very stiff - no give at all in the sole, so it felt like walking with wooden clogs on. Also, my toes felt crammed in the front. Maybe I am too used to my Altras to appreciate the Hokas. Otherwise, I liked the closure and the colors, but I had to return them because of the disadvantages. Now I am anxiously waiting for Zappos to start selling the Altra Olympus. Hurry up, Zappos!

Not what I expected based on other reviews - I was expecting a cushioned shoe that still provided a good running base. I understand this may be stylistic but for me, these shoes are like running with bricks on my feet. I am using them as a training tool since when I switch back to my regular running shoes I feel like I'm running on air.

I wanted to love these shoes, and when I walked around my apartment in them, they were fine, but when I walked (one hour, which is what I usually walk), the problems started. First, my right foot is wider than my left and the heel of my right foot kept sliding out. Okay, I tried to adjust the laces, but the laces are so narrow they hurt my hands to tighten them. I decided to use the standard laces that are provided with the shoes. That was horrible! The holes for the shoe laces are way too small to fit the standard laces; it was a nightmare trying to squeeze my laces in the tiny holes, and I ended up using scissors just to get the laces in. Okay, now the laces are in and I can tighten my right shoe to keep my heel from slipping. Unfortunately that caused two more problems: the top of the right shoe rubbed my last three toes really badly and left them sore after my walk and tightening the right shoe made my foot/arch strain more and cause a lot of discomfort/soreness/cramping of my right foot. I am heavy and maybe these are just some of my issues, but the standard laces are completely unacceptable for these shoes. I would recommend wearing these shoes, inside, for long periods of time, to determine if you will have issues with rubbing or soreness. A friend bought the Stinsons and he loves them!! He also switched out his laces, but the holes on the Stinsons are large enough for the standard laces to easily lace up on the shoes. They are very expensive and I am disappointed that I will probably have to spend a lot to get Nike Air Maxs.
