These shoes get a perfect 10. I have had them for a very short period of time so far. In this time - I can tell you that this shoe is without question, the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned. No doubts in my mind. The cushioning and construction of the shoe is why this is not a "cheap-$" shoe. You are paying for a Ferrari and you are going to get a Ferrari to put on your feet! I am very interested in seeing how they hold up to the outdoor elements, as the construction is very good, and everything else is top-notch. I am hoping I get some good life out of them and that's something right now that I would not be able to possibly rate due to length of time owning them. If you do nothing else, buy a pair and try on - once they go on your feet - if you had any reservations like I did about paying a little bit more - that will go out the window - you will keep them! The difference between this pair of shoes and a $100 pair is the difference between night and day.

I have plantar fasciitis in my left foot. The Hoka One One Stinson Trail combined with my own inserts have really eased the pain of the injury. They are great. I highly recommend them.

I was skeptical. I've been an avid "believer" in the minimalist movement for some time now. However, after struggles with achilles issues I decided to do something radically different. The results have been fantastic! The best way to describe the feel of these shoes, is that it's like walking barefoot across a wrestling mat. Before these shoes, I could barely run a mile without experiencing pain. Now I'm logging 20+ per week. These are the best running shoes I've ever owned. As for performance: (1) they feel awkward on a treadmill, (2) they're amazing outside (especially on downhills), (3) light weight, (4) plenty of toe box room (I have wide feet), (5) very comfortable (unlike my other running shoes, I wear these for both running and for normal daily wear).

Hoka shoes are definitely different than your average runner, but for those looking for max cushioning, this is the one. It doesn't come in wider widths, but it doesn't need to. I usually wear EE width in a size 13 because I have large feet and these feel plenty wide. May be a little goofy looking, but for a cushioned runner they definitely foot the bill.

The most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. My feet are large, flat, wide in front with bunions, but normal heel width. They fit all areas of my foot the moment I put them on. I could wish for a bit more arch support but otherwise perfection, so I bought a second pair for work!

They take a little getting used to. I sized up to fit my orthotics and it took a good 2 days of all day wear to settle in. They are REALLY comfortable. I am a RN on my feet all day and I fitness walk about 30 miles a weeks. These are rock stars! The only bummer is that now I don't want to wear anything else. They are thick. I am 6 feet and in these I am 6'2".

I'm on my second pair of Hoka's and have noticed a sight drop in quality. First pair, all the needle stitching at the toe came out almost immediately after just using them first couple of times. Now my second pair the plastic eyelet has come apart where the speed laces run through.

These are fantastic shoes. I can now run. I use to get swollen knees. No more. I got a pair for my girl friend. She had hips that were hurting. Now her hips don't hurt. Also the traction is great. Wet or dry. They hold like no other Absolutely love the shoes. Love the laces too. I like the Solomon laces as well!

Not wide enough. I tried the non trail shoe on at a local running store. They mentioned that the trail version gave the runner a much larger toe box. It did a bit but not nearly enough. Too bad!

Any shoe this clunky has to serve some useful purpose. I quit triathlon in 1996 thanks to a spinal fusion and advice to quit running. Based on others reviews I'm hoping these shoes will let me train enough to stumble through the run of a sprint tri. So far so good.

Best shoe ever for high mileage runners. This is my fourth pair. The Tarmac version is also nice but gets slippery when running on a wet road. These Stinson Trail Hoka's have great traction for a variety of surfaces. The cushioning really helps on downhills to save your quads. I just ran a 50+ mile Ultra and didn't get a single blister. My feet felt great.

Brands I'd also recommend: Stick with Hoka's

I have run in nothing but Five Fingers or other minimalist shoes for the past seven years and have enjoyed every step. However, after breaking several toes last year (dropping a heavy stone on them) I found it uncomfortable to run long distances in the Five Fingers. Obviously, I need more time to heal, but as a stubborn runner, I want to get out and enjoy the world. I bought the Hokas upon some recommendations from friends who run ultras. For me, at this time, they are the perfect solution. I am able to put in long miles with no pain. Yes, they do feel like Moon Boots but you get used to that pretty quickly. As my foot continues to recover I will mix back in the other shoes, but these have allowed me to run again right now.

Purchased for our warehouse manager who walks on concrete for 12 to 14 hours a day. He told us the pain is gone, the shoe fits great, and the comfort is outstanding.

These shoes are the last pair I imagined on my feet. A friend of mine introduced these to me at an Ironman but I did not bite. Recently I joined him in a few ultras. I gave in and started running in these. Prior to these shoes, I ran in minimalist type shoes that are light and neutral with minimal cushioning. What a big difference! I am training for a 100 miler in February and there is absolutely no way my feet, legs and muscles could hold up to the training plan without these shoes. I read another review that indicated these are not designed for technical trails. I do not believe that to be a true comment. They are very stable on the trails and handle rocks and roots extremely well. You will sound like a herd of horses coming through though. You can consider this marathoner, Ironman, and ultrarunner sold on these shoes.

Best running shoe I've ever owned. Big, clunky, unattractive and WONDERFUL. Super-padded. Would make a great walking shoe. I wear a woman's 8.5 running shoe and bought a man's 7 for the width. Perfect fit.

I've been running for 20 years on road, treadmill and trail and never had an injury. A few years ago I started running exclusively on trails and came down with plantar fasciitis in my left heel. Doc says rest, don't run, ride a bike or something else. Bah-humbug, I think, and order a pair of Hokas, but also make a switch to 80% road running and 20% trail. Within 1 week I am able to get out of bed without hobbling to the kitchen and after two weeks I am running virtually pain free and not hobbling anymore. The combination of the cushy Hokas and the switch in terrain have allowed me to continue running without having to take time off. As an added measure, I inserted a pair of Profoot Plantar Fasciitis heel inserts which add even more protection in the heel area. Now I don't worry at all about heel soreness after a run. Where there's a will there's a way, I suppose. People say Hokas look funny, but I beg to differ --- they look fine and when you're on the move, who really notices your shoes anyway? I suppose if you were standing in line at the grocery store someone might take notice, but I wear them just for running so it's not an issue at all. That's my story and that's how I beat PF and avoided the dreaded "time off" from running. p.s. I do own a pair of Salomon Speedcross too, which I love, and which I still wear on occassion when running trails in nasty conditions. Hokas are a great recovery and general purpose shoe, but are not ideally suited for technical or harsh trail conditions due to the added height, but they are perfect for comfortable running on roads or smooth trails. Oh, and they are a neutral shoe, not a stability shoe, just fyi, so be aware of that if you over pronate, like I do. But the Profoot inserts help considerably with that. Run-On! (p.p.s. No one gets your order to you faster than Zappos).

I am pregnant - my legs ache and figured that I needed all the support that I can get. I am not running in these shoes but try and walk often. I bought these from a retail store (and the way the guy treated me I should have bought them from Zappos). I wore them out of the store because I did not want to take them off. My only gripe is my feet get a little hot in them. I got dry max socks to use with them and it helps a bit, but after eight hours in them not entirely. I wore them on a trail today for several miles and my legs are not as sore. They are a bit expensive. They are good but I am not sure if they are an end all. My last pair was Brooks' Beast and they are definitely different than those. These seem to also help with over pronation and not make the outside of my foot hurt the way Beast did - those were almost too much correction. These seem to feel just right. That reminds me of a platform so you have to get adjusted to them a bit.

Started running about 18 months ago. Bought a pair of Nikes - everything hurt. Researched shoes and was told that for flat, wide feet this is the shoe. Have worn them out and am getting ready to buy my second pair after 3 warrior dashes, 4 5ks, a Tough Mudder, 2 weeks on the AT, and a half marathon. I am a heavier runner with flat, wide feet. If you fit this category do not buy another shoe. I know they are expensive so are doctors.

I thought that I was done running on pavement until I tried this shoe. I described my ideal shoe at the running store, an old trail runner that Early Winters had built by Adidas. The salesmen pulled this one out and when I put it on I was skeptical. He said to bring it back if it didn't work so I ran on the street. It took about a mile and half to adapt and now I can't take it off. Because of the thick cushion I have my toes and whole foot involved in gripping, using muscles that I thought would never come back. The traction tread sounds like a 4-wheeler coming down the road. Makes the dogs howl. True to size compared to my old Air Huaraches. I asked for a wide foot bed and that it has. No appreciable arch support but makes me use my arch muscles.

Bought this shoe a month prior to the Wasatch 100 endurance trail run. Two words: loved them! They kept the blisters to a minimum, were very light weight, and the tread on the bottom was great for gripping rocks on the steep climbs. Will buy more the second they begin to wear out. Tough as nails.

These shoes have enabled me to run / hike / race more frequently with less recovery time than any shoe used previously. The sole is very grippy on all surfaces. The fit is spectacular. When adventure racing with heavier packs, the cushioned sole helps to soften the blows to the joints preventing tissue damage and allowing a faster pace.

Okay, so you're reading this because you are as skeptical as I was! Well read on! First off, never in my life have I paid so much for a shoe. To this day, I still have never owned a pair of Jordans. So, when I saw the price on these...of course I was like "heck naw." But something happened the more reviews I read. I said to myself, self...could it be? You see I have been "running" (I use that term loosely) in Skechers Resistance Runners (version 1.0) for the past couple years. Now that they no longer produce those, it was time for me to move on. I'm a heavy runner at 245lbs, so I need protection. The reviews I read had me seriously wanting to "try" these out. But how could I get them in the door without my wife spotting them? Surely it would be the death of me if she found out the cost. So, I decided to give her the "warm sell" first. I showed her the shoe and said I was thinking about buying a pair. She said no way! Then after insisting that I had already purchased them, I assured her that I hadn't but really wanted to. The confidence hit me after this exchange and I hit the clicker. Zappos had them to me in like 2 or 3 days (the best in the business at this! Keep it up, Zappos). I tried them on the carpet. A whole new world had appeared! I could not believe what my feet were feeling. These are really like walking on a cloud (not that I know what that feels like!). I knew almost immediately that Zappos would not be getting these back! But the real test would be on the pavement. So, I hit the pavement last Monday and lo and behold, I'm running as fast as I have in quite some time! Not only that, my body is in shock at how efficient and correct these shoes are. My body is trying to anatomically correct itself after all the bad shoes I've run in! Seriously. I was hurting in places that had been overcompensating for the terrible shoes I had been running in. Sorry Skechers but it's true. I've gotten over the sticker shock and I'm actually planning to buy a second pair really soon! So, it's obvious from my enthusiasm that I highly recommend you at least try these out inside your home. Zappos makes it really easy in case they don't work out. My belief is that the majority of you runners will love them like I do!
