Hoka's manufacturing seems lower quality every year, even though prices go up. This show is no exception. The green paint on the side literally peeled off after my second run, and after 10 the rubber grip on both speed laces started slipping. Their lasts between models are completely incongruous, so while the good old Mafate fit me perfectly in the same size, this one starts cramping the side of my toes halfway through a run. It's almost unfortunate that they're still more comfortable than the competition, because the cheap quality and astronomical price will make buying this brand hard to swallow ever again.

Awesome running shoe! Of course, everyone's foot is unique and opinions may differ. I'm now a recreational runner only but did a six year tour in the Marine Corp and wish a shoe like this was available then for the thousands of miles logged during my tour. Found the shoe a little narrow and ordered 1/2 size larger. The zero gravity system is amazing, like your foot is floating in protective cushioning without it being sloppy or too soft causing foot fatigue. If you're looking for a super comfy shoe to run in, give them a try. Many models to fit different needs but the zero gravity system is outstanding. I find myself looking forward to running in them and am amazed every time. I push them to the limit without any performance deficiency.

Wore these for walking 5 miles a day. The soles literally wore out after 4 months: ball of foot area of shoe sole totally gone. By 6 months, my little toes were black and blue because the mesh upper wore through. Absolutely no stability in these shoes! Likewise, the heels of these shoes wore down Totally by the 6 month mark. Hoka owes me big time for drinking their kool-aid. Switched back to Asics Nimbus and love them! Should have never switched to Hoka's. Cannot imagine what runners experience with them. Asics rule!

I have been wearing Asics which provide quite a lot of cushion for autocross, which involves a lot of walking on hard surfaces. The Asics were pretty good, but I could still feel it the next day or two, sore feet, soles, etc. I decided to give these a try. They do feel a touch tight in the toe box, I am solidly 10.5 in almost any shoe and I had to go up to an 11 in these, but they are instantly very comfortable, they are like walking on marshmallows. My feet felt fresh all day and weren't sore at all. I would not recommend you do any race driving in them as they are sloppy for pedals, so bring some different shoes to drive in if that is your thing but driving to and from the event, working course for 2 hours at a time, and walking miles and miles in them I am convinced these are the best hard surface shoes you can wear right now.

I hurt my leg muscles (jumping up and down at a concert no less) and bought these sneakers because when I tried them out at home, the pain in my leg went away. They are comfortable, light - I wear them walking, dancing, exercise class...just about everywhere. The color attracts attention (the good kind) and I feel a bit taller wearing them (that's a good thing)! I did need a few centimeters more room than the woman's size 11, and found the men's size 9 1/2 was perfect for me.

Brands I'd also recommend: There is nothing else like Hoka One One.

I'm an avid runner who averages 25 miles a week and have been having nagging issues with my Achilles tendons and plantar fasciitis for over a year. I wear custom orthotics and have very high arches. I've been running religiously in Asics Gel Nimbus shoes for several years and decided to try something new to see if I can get rid of my nagging foot pain. A friend recommended the Hoka One One's and I must say on my first viewing of them I thought, "no way can I wear those ridiculous looking things, they look like clown shoes and my running group will ridicule me to no end." Then I started reading reviews, lots of reviews. Many people with similar aliments to me who claimed that the Hoka One One's saved them from having to quit running. I figured I'd give them a try, what did I have to loose? I ordered a pair of the Stinson Tarmacs and a pair of the conquests. I wore them both around the house and found the conquest to be noticeably stiffer so I sent those back. Too bad though I like the look of the conquest better, less clown shoe like. I've now run 3 times in the Stinson Tarmacs and I really like them so far. I've got about 22 miles on them. I was afraid they might be too soft, like running in wet grass but they're not. The best way I can describe them is that they feel like running on a nice modern track surface or freshly poured soft asphalt even when you're pounding along on concrete. My Achilles issue seems to be getting a bit better but time will tell on that one but fingers crossed. Now after 3 runs and less than 25 miles I have two major problems that is prompting me to exchange the shoes. the gray stripes painted on the side of the sole has almost entirely flaked off and they squeak with nearly every foot strike. It's bad enough that my running group started calling me squeaky. I'm hoping this is an isolated issue because I like them otherwise. But for the price I'm not expecting the paint on them to start flaking off on the 3rd wearing and the squeaking has got to stop. Here's hoping the next pair work out better, I'll update my review then.

After reading the reviews on this one, I was fully expecting to receive a very "spongy" type shoe with plenty of cushioning. They are certainly well cushioned but I was surprised they did not feel as spongy as some reviewers mentioned of Hoka shoes in general. I bought them because of lower back pain developing from increasing my mileage. These shoes solved that problem. I've struggled in the past with running. Every time I tried to run more than a few miles consistently, I developed knee or back pain. Happy to say that once I started wearing these, I'm hooked and running pain free. My goal is the half Marathon in 5 months and, if I make it, I think i can credit these shoes for the accomplishment. I have a narrow shoe size and these felt made to order.

I really like these shoes quite a bit...they are my third pair of Hoka's. My first two pairs were Bondi 2s and now I have a pair of the Stinson Tarmacs. My only complaint with these shoes is that one of the upper eyelets on the right shoe was defective (not a complete circle and it had a chip in the metal eyelet) so the shoelaces frayed considerably over the period of a month...Zappos is standing behind the shoe and is shipping me a new pair today. Overall these shoes are fantastic and can't say enough positive things about the Stinson Tarmacs. If you liked the Bondi 2s, I think that you will really like the Stinson Tarmacs...the fit, form, and function are truly remarkable. I used to be an "angry runner" (never liked running but did it anyway because of the benefits from running) but these shoes have actually made running enjoyable for me I'm a 20-25 mile a week runner.

I'm one if those people that never writes reviews (good or bad). Had to say something about these shoes. In one word, "unbelievable!" So much support with additional cushioning. I'm in the Army and have to run on hard surfaces daily. Needless to say, my lower extremity joints and bones are stressed to the max (35 years old). After running in these for one week, all the pain I used to feel in my ankles, shins, and knees has vanished. Only thing I would change is adding wider versions to the Hoka arsenal. If you have bunions or just plain ole wide feet, the fit may not feel custom.

I was a little frustrated with the description of the Hoka shoes. It is a little difficult to figure out if it is a trail or road shoe, neutral or stability. Maybe it doesn't matter? This is my second Hoka. I had the Bondi first and at 900 miles started to get terrible shin splints. I replaced it with this shoe and alternated a Saucony in my rotation and the shin splint has resolved. Overall I think this shoe will work out as a training shoe while I rebuild my miles.

I went to a local shoe store and was shown several pairs of shoes to help me work on concrete all day without my feet hurting. They had none until he showed me the Hoka Bondi 2 for runners. I am a large man and will only run for my life or to the table. Anyway, the shoe was so comfortable I called Zappos 2 weeks later and ordered another pair. The construction of the shoe began falling apart and I called the other store and Zappos and they were aware of it. Returned with no questions asked. Now, for this shoe. It is as comfortable with a wider stance and support in the heel and the best thing is the padding throughout the whole shoe. These are the best things for my feet since forever. They don't hurt at all even if I have a full moon night in the ER. Fantastic shoes and I don't have a vocabulary large enough to say how happy I am with Zappos. Truly customer oriented.

Brands I'd also recommend: None-It doesn'g any better than this.

I spend all day on my feet, and the Hoka's really are great-- be sure to order 1/2 size larger though. Not sure if the negative heel is causing new lower back pain...

The green on the side lower part of the sole peeled off after a week of running in them. If I did not love the shoes so much I would have sent them back. It was literally a week after running in them.

I got really excited by these running shoes after reading reviews in the press and from customers. I'm an experienced runner with some podiatric challenges (orthotics, etc) currently happily running in Brooks PureCadence 2's that are near end of life. I decided to pull the trigger on the Hoka One One Stinson Tarmac on a whim rather than order yet another pair of Brooks. They felt amazing when I tried them on-- huge amount of cushion. Fit was great. I loved the lace system. I'm really not one to get hung up on style when it comes to athletic gear, but these sneakers look absolutely ridiculous. My wife actually made fun of me, making all kinds of terrible remarks. They just look odd with the oversized sole design. I couldn't do it-- they have been returned.

I bought these after running in the Stinson trail version for about two weeks since I run mostly on pavement in the winter. They have the same soft ride with good support. I am 5'7" and 155 pounds and just ran my first ultra 50k race and have been trying to up my weekly mileage from 35-45 miles a week to 50 but my legs always felt flat and fatigued at any distance unless I took every other day off. Since that race and buying the Hokas in two months time I have been able to carefully up my weekly mileage up to 60-80 taking one or two days off. I should mention that I work 50 hours a week on concrete floors with lots of walking and physical work. I usually come home feeling like I need to get off my feet but with the Hokas I do not dread going out running anymore like I used to. I love to run but the pounding was getting to me. That is not the case now. I can go out and run 20 miles and my legs do not feel pounded to a pulp and recovery time is much improved as Hoka claims. I guess the best way to describe the Hokas is comparing running on asphalt with your typical running sneakers to running on wooded trails with them. And at least for me the extra cushioning does not seem to slow my forward propulsion much if at all and has kept me injury free (I am a mid foot striker). I feel that I should get at least 600 miles out of each pair of Hokas. The trail version rock on the trails and love them but I find you have to be a little more vigilant on ruts, roots since midsole stack height being taller. I plan on trying other Hokas; Bondi speed. For race days. Of course Zappos' service is easy, fast, and dependable.

Got these for my husband after having a pair of my own for a couple of months. They are so comfortable it's ridiculous. I'm a former recreational runner with lots of foot problems due to high arches and very tight calves. He's a tennis player carrying extra weight and his feet get really sore. These make it possible to work out much longer without foot and knee pain and allow me to run for more than a few hundred yards for the first time in many years. They get 3 stars for style because of the loud graphics. I understand this is part of the brand identity, but sometimes I'd prefer them not to scream "Hokas!" Maybe a quiet(er) upper with a statement color along the bottom half of the sole.

I've been running since December '13 thirty to thirty five miles per week. I had been experiencing shin splints and knee and foot pain. Running in brooks Adrenaline 14s and Nike Free Run shoes. After meeting an avid runner and her telling me about a place that records your running measure gait and pressure points of feet. Then being introduced to HOKAONEONE. Out of the box I ran 7.4 miles with not even thinking about my feet shins knee. 35 mile an hour headwinds, 35 degree temp. The only thing I could think during 7.4m was how incredibly awesome these shoes really are. It's ridiculous actually. Why aren't all the other running shoe companies following this. If you want to enjoy your outdoor adventures more and not think about your feet, I in the highest possible fashion recommend these or any HOKAONEONE brand shoes to you! I'll never buy any other shoe the rest of my life.

FANTASTIC road shoe. Amateur runner, done a marathon, several halfs, currently on a 365 day running challenge and wanted something to comfort my ankles and knees. Had read about these in Outside, and decided to order a pair. These ROCK! Quality: these are rock solid from top to bottom Fit: I normally wear a 10.5 for my running shoes, but the 10.5 in the Hoka was a little too snug, so wound up getting an 11 (thanks Zappos for the lightning fast exchange!!!) The toe is a little smaller than I wanted, but by no means does it detract from the overall fit. Running in these is absolute heaven. Your foot feels firmly cupped, the shoes are not tippy or overly-cushiony feeling in anyway whatsoever. My longest run so far was 10-miles, and these really do help with recovery! I had none of the normal shin and knee pain the next day. Definitely give these amazing shoes a try, you will never go back to a "traditional" running shoe. My former shoe was an Asics Gel Nimbus 14, and was very impressed with the comfort (until I tried the Hokas!) Thanks Hoka for changing the game, these are my new favorite running shoe.

I bought these shoes because I enjoy running mid-distance runs (10K-Half Mara.) and I always have knee pain afterwards. Through my first three runs, one of the a major up-and-down hill run, I'd have to say that these shoes are pretty fantastic. However, because I felt these shoes didn't provide sufficient arch support, I tore out the insole and added a high arch insole (superfeet) which seems to work better than the Sole brand insert. It did add a little more weight, but there's still a huge difference in the lack of post-running pain. I'll be running in these shoes for a handful of 10 milers and half-marathons this year for sure. The price point is a little high, but it's well worth it in the end, in my opinion.

I think these shoes are junky. They are filled with foam and are probably three times thicker than typical running shoes. They make you think you are going to have less impact and be more comfortable but actually they change your mechanics - your stride and strike - and I ended up hurting myself first 2 miles out of the box. On top of that they have cheapo closures and are hideously ugly.

I'm not someone who typically purchases shoes online, especially not ones north of a lot. I took the plunge after reading some many glowing reviews of these Hokas. they felt narrow to me, as I have a wide foot however after wearing them a couple of times, they feel great. I ran a 10 mile training run last weekend and took 6 minutes off my time, partly I think because of these bad boys. Recommended!

I bought these shoes as I'm getting older and more brittle! I have a bad knee that I'm going to have to get replaced, and I wanted something with plenty of cushion. I've worn Brooks Beast in the past and also Salomon shoes, but even new the cushioning wasn't what I wanted. I had read about the Hoka One One in magazines and decided to try a pair. Absolutely awesome shoes! The cushioning is second to none, and with all of the cushioning the stability is great. My knees don't hurt nearly as bad as they did with other shoes. My wife, who is a nurse and needs cushioning on the hospital floors, had me order her a pair and now they are working better than we had hoped for. Outstanding. We did have to each buy a size 1/2 larger than we usually wear, and they fit great. Highly recommended!

Since you will only read positive things about Hoka, believe everything you read. I can't add much else than that which has already been written. Buy these. Use these.
