I ordered this men's shoe because I have a wide foot across my toes, and I needed a roomy toe box. (Women's 9.5 wide are usually too wide thru the arch for me.) This shoe met those parameters well. I am returning them, though, because the shoe rests too high up on my foot and rubs right below my ankle bones. Maybe this would not be the case with a man's foot. I don't know. I did like the way the shoe looked, and I really like the quick-release laces. Arch support was adequate, but the heel did not feel as cushioned as I had hoped (dealing with plantar fasciitis). It's possible changing inserts would have helped, or adding additional heel cushioning, but none of that would have helped with the problem of rubbing the lower part of my ankle bone.

I had the original XA Pro Ultra GTX and I LOVED them. I had them for almost 2 and a half years and wore them until my feet started getting wet from a crack in the tread on the bottom of the left foot. This second generation version doesn't seem as well made. In 7 months of wear the soles have worn through in two spots on both. That's with alternating them with shoes during the work week and other sneakers afterwards and on weekends. Figured I'd get at least a year and half out of these. Very disappointed.

I do not like the looks of them once they got here. The toe is funky looking and the shoe string thing is also funky. Hurt my feet after wearing them for awhile.
