I have plantar fascitis. It was mainly in my heel and moved to my arch or instep. I normally wear Danskos but could not without extreme pain. My son who is a runner told me about these shoes & I ordered a pair. They have been wonderful. It is the only shoe I can wear with extreme pain. I also had knee surgery last summer and it has been wonderful for my knee. I now have 2 pairs, but wish they would make them in different colors as I have to wear these to work. Great shoe!

I had such high hopes for these! I have run 25+ marathons/ultras and more 1/2's than I have kept count of and anxiously bought these when they went on sale. I previously tried these on at a HOKA booth at a race for feel and sizing before ordering online. When I received them they were as expected comfortable on first try on and super cushy, was excited to run in them. My first few runs in them found me frustrated with the no tie mechanism that they come with, I couldn't get it tight enough- So I ditched it for the standard laces that they also supplied in the box, while they were definitely better I still had issues. The soles of my feet were consistently sore, it felt like I was a beginner again, not a seasoned 35+ mile a week runner. I tried to stay opened minded and give them 50 miles to break in before racing in them, but it just never happened. Then race day arrived, I attempted to run a relatively flat/easy marathon course that I have previously run twice and ended up with such bad pain in my left foot & IT band that I thought I had an injury and ended the race at mile 20 with my first EVER DNF. Having never had an IT band injury before I did not want to push out the last miles as I could barely walk, let alone run!! Got home, iced, rolled, elevated, anti-inflammatories for two days and hoped for the best. Realized pretty quick it was due to the shoes, just simply not working for me. On day three I grabbed my trusty Asics and towed the line for a half marathon and completed without incident! These are not the shoes for me! I am extra disappointed because I spent a pretty penny on these and they are already retired, I have NEVER had a bad experience like this in any other shoe in my 8 years of running. I would not invest them money for all the hype around these shoes for running. My experience only, I know others swear by them!!

GREAT RUNNING SHOE! Very pleased with the comfort and support of this running shoe. Great for long runs. I went half size bigger. I usually wear 71/2 and bought an 8. Glad I did. Super comfortable!

I have bought at least 8 pairs of running shoes including Asics, New Balance and Brooks in a variety of styles trying to find a comfortable running shoe. My feet are wide and I am a heaver, newer runner training for a race. I love the feel of these shoes! The cushioning is perfect without feeling mushy or restrictive. I love how it protects my healed fractured heel. I also had no low back pain after my run. The down side to these awesome shoes.... the fast lace system is crappy. They give you real laces and I suggest you use them. The tongue is not padded and cushy like an asics shoe so socks must be worn. If you get get aside from these issues and want a very comfortable shoes that will help you pack on the miles and build up your running, buy these shoes. Worth every cent.

These shoes weren't for me. I have plantar fascitous in both feet and knee problems and it aggravated one of my feet to where I was hurting. With my foot problem, too much arch support aggravates it. So this might not work for me but work for someone else that has the same issue. They were good for my knees though. I didn't like how bulky they felt either.I was impressed with customer seevice. They are wonderful to deal with.

I bought these shoes for walking. They are very comfortable and have a great cushion feel with every step. The first pair the strange shoe lace broke, they were only worn once. I notified Zappos and the next day I had a new pair. Love Zappos, only buy my shoes from them. Although these shoes are pricey, I feel I am worth it. They look and feel great.

I'm not a runner but I have RA and fibromyalgia and am always looking for a cushioned but supportive shoe. I love the rocker sole as I've had it in cheaper shoes but the cheaper shoes only lasted me a short while. For the last few years I've relied on Asics Gel Nimbus but these shoes feel even better on my feet. I wear them with orthotics and the first thing I noticed is that these shoes force me to walk with proper foot alignment. My legs and glutes were a little sore the first few days but in a good way. Even with the orthotics the shoes seem a half size larger on my smaller foot but just a tad larger on the other foot. Extremely roomy and tall toe box which is hard to find in athletic shoes. Overall I'm ecstatic over this purchase and if I was a runner I know that these would be great shoes.

After doing some research, I was really excited to try out the Hoka Stinson Tarmac. The cushioning is excellent. However, the material and stitching in the upper is far too thick and stiff. After a brief run (2 miles), the tops of my middle toes were cut up! I've tried thicker running socks and had the same issue. When I toe off (especially when walking), the uppers above the toes dig in and irritate. Unfortunately, they've been lightly worn and cannot be returned. I really wanted to love these shoes! I've never before had this issue with running shoes.

I really like these shoes. I got them because I have plantar fasciitis in one foot. They haven't helped the plantar fasciitis; however, they are really nice to run in. They are light and very cushioned. They are also very stable despite the high foot bed. Not bad looking though they are noticeably different than lower profile running shoes. I really like them and would recommend them.

These are the best athletic shoes I've ever bought! So comfy! I think they look cool & so did my husband. I bought a pair for him and he loves them too! I usually wear 8.5 in athletic shoes & they fit perfect. I kind of want to wear them everyday or wish all shoes felt this good! When I first out them on I felt super springy. After the first use they feel normal just extra comfy. I don't feel like I'm going to bounce around anymore. I also love the bungee lacing. So easy & cool. Just get them!

Love these shoes! I can't say enough good things about them. I have horrible feet - osseous anomalies on the back of both calcanea, have hallux rigidus in both feet and an old running injury of metatarsalgia in the left foot. I'm also a dancer and will often dance for a couple of hours on the same day that I walk an hour or two. These are the only shoes that allow me to do all of this, without any soreness the next day. They are a godsend - thank you Hoka One One!

I bought these shoes for walking not running. I have some skeletal issues and wanted some shoes with a maximum amount of squish in the soles. These fit the bill. They are very well made. I like the no tie option and the tongue doesn't move over to the side like so many other shoes do on my feet. Very light weight for looking so thick. Well made. Great color. Happy feet. I went a size higher as I often do with athletic shoes as my feet swell when walking a distance and smaller shoes feel too cramped. I usually wear a 5 to 5 1/2 and these work in the size 6. I think it's because it ties up to the top of your foot and everything then stays in place including the heel.

These shoes aren't cheap so I debated for some time before buying. After I got them I tried testing them out on the treadmill so I could return them if need be. Problem was the treadmill 'test' just wasn't the same as an outdoor test. I couldn't tell if they were really going to work for my injury ridden knees. What to do? They sat in my extra bedroom for over a month while I debated. Finally last week it was time for a race I had signed up for weeks ago. I hadn't run since signing up because of knee pain, but the race had been so far out I was sure I'd be better by then. Race day came and I decided to wear the Hoka's. Not only did I not have any knee pain during the race, but I also recorded my fastest time yet. I pr'd after sitting out over a month pre-race. I love these funny looking shoes. One last thing, I usually order up a half size in running shoes, but I did not have to do that in these.

These are the most comfortable running shoes that I have ever owned. It feels like I am running on air. My previous shoes started giving me shin splints (I got fitted at a running store for them), but I have no pain when I run in these.

These shoes would have been a disappointment had they been very cheap, but since they were rather expensive I will say that they are a gigantic disappointment. I have been running since the early 80's, and even back then we knew that squishy foam shoes very quickly went flat. I am here to tell you that these shoes are no more technologically advanced than the shoes made 30 years ago. The first time I ran in them they were indeed soft (not springy). I also ended up with a blister on top of one toe from where the break in the shoe rubbed. I feel like a fool for buying these. Back to my Salomons.

Wanted to try the Hoka One One as I'd tried them on at an expo. Although they look like bricks on your feet - big clogs, they are very light, and provide a lot of cushion. I don't have any knee or back injury to deal with, just wanted to give them a try. I like them but don't plan to run in them exclusively. I want to mix it up, and will use them to alternate. I would buy a 2nd pair.

I absolutely love Hokas. They are undeniably goofy looking, but my joints are far happier after a long run in Hokas than any other running shoe I have tried. As with all running shoes, I wear a 1/2 size bigger in these than my street shoes.

I love this shoe. It has made it possible for me to run again. This is my second pair. This time I ordered my normal shoe size (US 7). Although I love the shoe I have found that, if overtightened, cause my feet to get tingly (only reason for 4 stars instead of 5). First pair was half size up (US 7.5). When I order again, I will go back to half size up.

I really love these shoes. I've had some tough times lately with shoes since I've upped the mileage. I developed some bad ITB pain and really felt it in my knees. However, this would only happen at 10 plus miles in. Although these take some time to get used to they are now my favorite shoes to run in. I feel like they are perfect for all my long runs and I look forward to running my marathon in them this spring. I do warn folks that you may get some blisters but I think it's more about finding the right shoe/sock/insert combo.

This is the most comfortable sneaker I have ever worn. The bottoms of my feet usually start burning after about 30 minutes of walking. But the thick soles of these shoes cushion my feet so well that I am not aware of any pain. I have an extremely high arch and instep and have to use orthotics for support. That is the reason I rated their arch support as moderate. For the average foot, it might be excellent. As an extra added feature this winter, the thick sole acts as an insulator from cold floors and sidewalks!

I have wide feet and these were a little narrow causing some toe discomfort. I am overweight and work in the operating room 5 days a week. The shoes provide excellent cushioning. I did read that the Mafate had a wider toe box will give those a try in future.

These shoes are very comfortable have a lot of cushioning which I like when I am running/exercising! I think I could've gone down a half size, in most running shoes I get a 10.5 and I got these in a 10 and I think I could've went with a 9.5 but can't say for sure without trying on 9.5 :). Can't say that I'm just in love with the color but they were on sale! I can keep running and running (or jogging) in these shoes! I have small arch and my feet do not hurt in these.

Wow, what a fantastic shoe! I have all sorts of foot problems, mostly congenital malformations, and with this shoe on you'd never know it. It took no breaking-in time, and made my power walking effortless on my feet. I can't recommend these enough and aim to buy another pair. The price is worth it -

Brands I'd also recommend: Saucony's are amazing shoes also, but Hoka One Ones beat it out.

I was a new runner last year and tried too much too soon, ending up with a couple of wicked over-use injuries. I could not wear my needed orthopedic inserts in any other shoes I tried. The super-cushion of my Hokas allowed me to start wearing the inserts. I ended up running my first marathon in the fall and I credit it to these shoes. They weren't magic, I had to do all my other physical therapy as well. I now own 3 pair of Hokas and wear them on the job as an RN as well. That said, everyone's foot issues are different. You might have to kiss a lot of frogs.

I'm a runner of an average 25-30 mile week, trying to up the mileage and run greater distances in 2014. I suffer from pain in the left achilles, (that I've seen a PT for about 6 months and been treated by a physician for) I have weak ankles and have been running in Mizuno Wave Prophecies for about a year. About a year ago I ordered the Hoka Bondi B and had problems with my ankles rolling in that, I tried everything, custom orthotics, but they just weren't for me, I so wanted to love Hokas. A year later, and recently, I purchased the Stinson Tarmac after seeing them again at an Expo and chatted to a Hoka rep that let me know the technology of the shoes have improved tremendously over the past year. I tried the Stinson Tarmac on and immediately loved it, I loved it so much that the next day even without breaking in the shoe I ran a half/13.1 and a full 26.2 back to back and had zero problems with this shoe, in fact the achilles problems that I previously had were immediately gone! That was a week ago and I still feel great, I'm running short recovery runs this week, and I've inserted an orthotic, and it's feeling great! I just ordered the Stinson Trail as I like this shoe so much. I'm considering removing the technical laces, but think I'll play with these for a few more runs.
