I just ran a desert marathon in the Trailroc 255s. I wear Kinvara 3s for pavement in size 11 and ordered the same for the 255s with no issues. The 255s were great for hard and soft sand but I could feel every cleat while running on a short section of pavement. As advertised, a solid minimalist style trail shoe that has decent cushioning and a 6mm heel to toe drop.

Brands I'd also recommend: Saucony Kinvara 3, Vibram 5 Fingers

These shoes are very comfortable right out of the box. I liked them so much, I bought a second pair and stuck them in my closet. They do run small though. I normally wear a 10.5 US and I ordered an 11.5 based on other reviews and they fit perfect. I have a slightly wide foot and these are comfortable, no break-in period required.

255's are great if you are looking for a sturdy and durable shoe for HIT sessions in the gym, treadmill or track running. They have a good level of support for what is essentially a minimalist shoe. I bought them about two months ago and they are holding up very well. Granted, I did very minimal outdoor running with them due to weather. They are very comfortable and light if you are into speed workouts.

I had been looking at these for about a month and decided to buy them based on an earlier review. I love them! As soon as I got them I went for a quick 2 mile run, they performed very well with no hotspots or pinches. The following weekend I took them for a 20 mile weekend hike, same story. Two weeks after that I wore them for a 50 mile weekend UL backpacking trip. In between the hikes I've worn them running 3-5 days per week (nothing major, just 2-3 miles a day). I absolutely love the shoes. They seem more durable and nearly as light as my NB minimus mt10s and my NB mt110s. The toe box is spacious and comfortable, even if you've been living in VFFs for awhile. The heel feels secure without pinching the Achilles, and they have decent traction in a broad range of conditions. I highly recommend these shoes. I plan to wear them until they fall apart and then buy another pair.

Love this style! Innov8 has gotten back to a roomier toe box after all of the 'pointy' narrow styles of late. I did not buy from Innov8 for over a year due to cramped toes styles. This is the fit & function in a lightweight package that first brought me to Innov8. Hope Zappos will carry more color options as I definitely want to purchase another pair!

The shoes are really great for trail running. I recently participated in a Warrior Dash race and the shoes kept me from slipping and sliding all over the place. My buddy told me that he could see how I was able to pass the rest of the racers on the trails because of the traction the shoe provided.

I bought this shoe, ran 4 training miles in them, and then ran a 100 mile trail race in them. I have a lot of history with Inov8 shoes and I had confidence in the Trailroc-255. It worked as flawlessly as I expected it to. My only complaint with the fit is its a little sloppy in the toe box. This was only a problem on off camber trails or super steep down hills. Otherwise the shoes were great and after hosing them off, looked almost brand new. The rubber is grippy on wet rocks and logs and they look good enough to wear as an every day style sneaker.

Great shoe! I have about 80 trail miles on them so far and they perform amazingly. Probably the best trail shoe I've owned. That being said I foresee some durability issues. Mind I'm in Arizona and the trails I run are 80% sharp rock, 10% sand, 10% loose rock. I've already lost one lug and the soles are starting to wear down fast.

This is my 5th pair of Inov-8's, and overall I really like their feel, with the low-cut heel and great freedom of movement. This new pair/range has a wider toebox, and less pointy toe than a lot of their original designs, which was overdue. I really like the clean design of the Trailrocs, with no stitching on the outside to abrade away, and nice traction on the outsole. That being said, there's still room for improvement in a couple key areas; the last of the shoe doesn't seem to naturally fit the shape of my foot. Kind of odd and hard to put a finger on it, but something just feels a little off. For being a trail shoe, they don't offer a lot of protection underfoot. You still feel every rock and root along the trail. I was really wanting these in a '3 shock arrow' design (Inov-8's cushioning rating system) with a little more foam cushioning. This 255 (2 shock arrows) is as close as I could get in the Trailroc range. These have almost no arch support. Some like it, some don't, just FYI. Personally I wish their shoes had at least some. Lastly, the instep in the shoe doesn't come up as high as in other models, leaving a wide area across the top of the laces for them to cut into your ankle if you want to lace them up snugly. I'll still enjoy trail running in these until they wear out, but hope to replace them with an improved version. Zappos has the best service and I'm always comfortable trying/buying shoes from them.

Great shoe. Bought and wore for first trail run and were very comfortable. Provided nice traction in mud, traversing fallen trees and rocky areas. Styling is good and fit is true.

This is my fourth pair of Inov-8 trail runners and probably my favorite so far. I love the unobstructed feel of their shoes. As for this one, I'm glad they finally gave some a wider toebox and less pointy fit up front. It feels very stable and has great traction. Breathability is good, durability remains to be seen. My wish list for improvements would just be to offer a Trailroc model with '3 arrows' (as Inov-8 rates their cushioning). This 255 is pretty low-profile, and doesn't give as much underfoot protection as many other trail runners. Also the sides don't come up as high on my instep as other models, which leaves a lot of lace across the top, and sometimes cuts into my foot at the top of the laces.

Great shoes. Feel durable and well built. Slightly larger in toe box than measurement suggested; plenty of toe room. Look better than most 'minimal' shoes.
