Entire order process was excellent. Wife was delighted with the boots as they looked better in person, so 5 stars for style. Footbed was extremely comfortable (Ariat is known for this), so would have been 5 stars, but extremely disappointed that the boots did not fit, so must return. therefore can't award 5 stars for comfort when the boots were too small to zip up. Overall, 4 stars for the great ordering experience. Fit details: Instep - a bit tight. Wife does not have unusually high instep; with boot fully unzipped, she had difficulty getting her foot fully seated. Once in the boot, she commented that the footbed was the most comfortable she had ever felt in a boot. Circumference is NOT 16 as listed on website! Wife s calf is 15-1/4 at widest point and she could not zip the boot up, whether over skinny jeans, or over just tights. Actual circumference measurements based on size 7B (fully unzipped, shaft laid flat on a table, zipper to zipper with tape measure: 6 down from top, 13 3 down from top, 14 Top of boot, 15 Top of boot, with elastic gore fully stretched out, 16 (is this where the 16" measurement came from? Height of boot, inside measurement from top of heel, 16 (would have been perfect) Wish Ariat made these in a D-wide size; maybe that would ease the instep issue but the shaft needs to grow by at least 2" so that 6" down from the top would be 15" instead of 13" but maybe that would affect the look of the boots that Ariat wants to portray.

Beautifully made boot but very equestrian -- meaning I don't think it works well for work or non-equestrian casual wear. The leather is high quality but it is very stiff and has a matte finish -- so much so that, from a distance, the boot almost appears to be made of a matte-finish black rubber. I love the heel and toe box, but I was looking for a multi-purpose boot and, for me, this wasn't it.

Usually wear a size 6.5, so I ordered a size 7. They fit perfectly, and are comfortable right out of the box. I ordered these at the same time as a less expensive Nine West Tiptop (which fit in 6.5 but loose and slipped in the heel) and at the same time as a more expensive Frye Dorado Buckle Riding boot in 7, which was also the right size but was far too tight in the calf. Of the three, the Ariat has the best overall fit. Nice and roomy in the toe, no slip in the heel, just right in the ankle and calf. However, the leather looks and feels like vinyl. It is hard and stiff to the touch rather than smoother and softer. I still haven't decided whether I will return them or not. The other two are going back because although the leather looks and feels more expensive on the other two boots, the Ariat is the only one that actually fits properly (and it is very comfortable for a boot). To echo another reviewer, my main complaint is that the boot is pretty boring. It is a nice simple riding boot if you're an equestrian, and I am guessing the stiffness of the leather helps with waterproofing. But as a fashion statement, I agree it is pretty darn blah. I plan to keep looking, but may keep these anyhow.

Wow! I would give these boots ten stars if I could! I bought these boots hoping they would fit my large calves. At first I could not get the zipper up and thought I would have to send them back but I stretched them by wetting the leather and rolling up newspapers and putting them in the shaft for a couple days. They fit perfectly after that. I think they were tight because of the quality of leather. I wore them on a trip to Ireland and they were all I wore! The fit is perfect! My feet were never tired or sore and the leather kept my legs nice and warm. I can not say enough about the arch support and fit. There is a big difference in an actual riding boot company who makes boots and a designer who puts there name on an average fitting boot. I will not go back to that again!

Very tall shaft for shorties like me (5'4"), but my main complaint, it's pretty boring. A nice simple riding boot if you're an equestrian. But as a fashion statement. Pretty blah.

These are beautiful and I have several other pairs of Ariat boots that I wear constantly but these have to go back. Although they list the circumference as 16" I could not zip them up as I can other 16' boots. My calf is 15.25 so I was hopeful. I love Ariat and as always Zappos speed and service were fantastic.

Love these! A little big in the calf, but I knew that going in-I'm a solid 14 1/2" width. Super high shaft, really comfy and wow...what quality! True Ariat!
