I just got mine and I love them! I got the cognac color, it looks a little darker in person but I almost like it better than the picture. The size fits perfectly. For people who have had trouble getting their foot past the heel; a woman at a shoe store told me when you first get a boot like this you need to use a plastic bag to slip your foot in initially, and that you should wear them around the house for a bit to wear them in. It worked great for me!

Similar story- got them and couldn't get my foot past the ankle. I wear an 8.5-9 and ordered a 9. Don't want to order a 9.5 or 10 and have the foot be too big. Going to be exchanging for a different style.

I purchased a pair of knee high Frye boots after being recommended by someone who wears Frye for everything including horseback riding competitions. I loved them when I received them and although they felt a little small in the ball of my foot, I wore them. They did become more comfortable and shape to my feet. After about 10 months the heels began to show serious wear. At about 11 months the heel binding completely ripped and they are no longer wearable. I am so disappointed! I never thought that boots that cost this much would fall apart so quickly. I have had many other leather boots from other companies and have kept them for years, getting minor repairs done. These were the most expensive pair and the fastest to fall apart even though I wore them no more than once a week. I have returned them (because Zappos is awesome) and I will look for a new pair of boots, from another company.

I LOVE these boots! They are super comfortable. And yes, as the other reviews state, they can be a bit difficult to get on the first few wearings...but the actual bootstraps help so much! I was on my feet in them for 12 hours a day, 2 days in a row, and had no issues. Definitely worth the investment.

After reading the reviews I ordered half a size up, and that was too big! I am a 6½, and ordered a 7. But I absolutely love these boots. They are exactly what I have been looking for all year. They are amazing, soft leather (I got the dark brown hammered full grain leather), the shape of the boot is perfect (rather straight, not much shaping at the ankle, like real riding boots), and the straps around the ankle are the coolest touch. I ordered my true size, 6½, and cannot wait for them to arrive!

I do not understand why people are complaining that they cannot get their feet past the ankle. I recently got my Frye Shirley Riding Plate boots, and my feet slide in and out easily, quickly, and without any effort yet still feels secure and well fitted to my feet. In fact, they are easier to put on and take off than many of my other boots by other designers that have zippers on the sides. I do not have particularly narrow feet, either. I wear a size 7, got a size 7, and they fit perfectly. Also, someone had said they felt the boots did not look right on her because she is 5'2". I am 5'3", and I think they still look great on me. They hit me just below my knees. As far as appearances go, these boots are absolutely gorgeous. I got the Copper Hammered color, and I could not love them more. They are the perfect rich brown-red, the leather is of excellent quality, and the grain has just the right blend of rustic-refined finish. They look great with skinny jeans or a dress/skirt. These boots are exactly what I have been looking for all season. I was hesitant to buy these boots because of some of the negative reviews and the hefty price tag, but I am so glad that I decided to go for it! I could not be happier with them.

Bought these to replace the Paige Frye boots by dog chewed up. It was a pricey thing to replace, so I was happy to find a good price on these (same boots on a-zon for more! same color!). They are a beautiful, rich color. Not a polished look at all, they are definitely meant to be worn looking, but not as though someone would be like "why did that chick buy used boots?!" They have a vintage-esque feel. Compared to the Paige boots, they are tight. I bought 8.5. I am 5'9" and have 14.5" calves. I normally wear 8.5 in flats and sneakers, and sometimes a 9 in heels. Both the calves and foot area are tight for these, even though they are the same size I bought for Paige. Another piece worth noting - the stylin' straps around the ankle can be undone. I could not get these boots on without doing that. They are adjustable, too. I thought it was that logo plate on the heel that was restricting me from getting my boats in there but it was really the straps. I'm keeping these and hoping they stretch, but I'd think about sizing up if I were you!

I was a little worried after reading the reviews that these boots would be hard to get on, but after the first time I am easily able to slip them on and off. I love them but keep in mind, if you buy the stone washed, they look pretty beat up.

Never write reviews...but I love these boots. They're durable and withstand any weather. Not too much room for calf muscles and lower legs that aren't the slimmest. I'm 5'2 and130lbs so I'm not huge but I struggle to put them on with jeans! And I struggle sometimes putting them on as there is no zipper. Ugh. Although, it didn't irritate me this time as I've grown to expect this with Frye boots. Still, good boot, but you need patience when taking them on and off if you don't have the slimmest model leg. I got some nice legs though, haha.

The boots look good on, tight in the feet though I must say, but I could get them on with one tug. My feet are flat. They are a little tall for my short legs, and I am too boring for the cool weathered color (dark brown stone wash). Also I have an office job so I cannot be too edgy! The shaft has a nicer cut than you see in the video (I thought they would be too funnel-looking without any shape). I am trying to decide if I should try on the black (a little easier for my job). They would be great for a college student.

This boot is gorgeous and looks even better in person. Unfortunately, like a lot of Frye riding boots, the shaft is just way too tall for me. I'm 5'2, and the shaft comes up to my knee, and ends up looking pretty silly. Thus, I returned them. If you're taller than me, say 5'5 and above you may really love this boot though and it will fit you well. Another thing to note about Fryes is that their fit is variable for each pair -- for example, the ones I ordered were a little more snug in the right foot than the left. Overall -- Great boot, love Fryes, just too tall.

No way the inner circumference of these is 15.5. It needs a zipper. I have a very high arch and I couldn't even get them on. Loosening the straps around the ankle makes no difference. Disappointing. They hardly make any styles with zippers...wish they would.

I absolutely LOVE these boots. I ordered the Cognac Stone Wash, and was expecting them to be more orange-y as in the picture. When they came, they looked more like the Dark Brown Stone Wash with some hints of orange. So pretty. Unfortunately, I have to return them since the shaft was too skinny for my calfs. I don't have huge legs at all, and I could get the boot almost on but it was just too tight and I wouldn't even be able to wear leggings or jeans with them. So sad to have to return these! They are such great boots.

This is a gorgeous boot; unfortunately, even though my feet and calves are perfectly normal in size (not wide or otherwise unusual--skinny, if anything) I could NOT get them into these boots, even when using a boot horn! For this price, I expect a boot that I can at least get onto my foot. Sadly, these will be going back.
