I had a DKNY parka I bought for cheap until I realized it's just too bulky for me to use, especially when sitting in the car. I came across this parka after looking at other options (e.g. The North Face), and it is a best buy for its price (I bought it on clearance -- yay Zappos!). It's not too thick, relatively light, and gives my petite frame a slight shape so I don't look like a burrito. It's relatively warm for a walk around the block in midwinter -- now it should be understood that unless you're all intentionally bundled up like a sherpa you won't stay warm in sub-zero teens temperature with this, however, with a couple layers, you'd survive the colder winters in the Midwest. To give a point of reference, I used to live in the tropics where the coolest it gets would be the 70s -- now, I typically wear a fleece-lined cotton hoodie/jacket for 50-60 F temps, a thick zip-on cotton sweater underneath a leather jacket at about 30-upwards temps, a thick cotton sweater underneath a wool trench coat at about 20-30 F. Anything lower I don a down-filled parka (like this). I tried this on a 4 F day with a thick sweater underneath, and it's kept me cozy and warm for errands. Of course if you commute, you'd have to err dressing on the warmer side. Overall, it was a great buy for me. I got the nice blue color at XS for my 5' petite frame, and it leaves me enough room for a couple thick sweaters to layer underneath. The sleeve length is just right (that's coming from someone who usually has problems with sleeves that are too long).

I am 5'3 and this coat is not a good length at all. It hits below the knee and feels awkward. The construction of the coat is nice and it isn't too bulky, but I would recommend being 5'5 or taller if you are going to purchase this coat.

I ordered an XS in this item and it was pretty big on me. The arms, shoulders are too big and it is too long. Also no cuffs or way to snug up the sleeve at the wrist. I am 5' 2" and about 100 lbs. I ended up ordering the Marmot Montreaux coat in XS and it fits much better--slimmer, more tailored and overall a better coat for me.

I looked at five long, down coats and I'm very happy that I went with this one. It doesn't look as though I'm wearing a sleeping bag, the hood is cozy, the zipper is sturdy, the sleeves are long enough! and I have yet to see bits of down escaping through the fabric. I was worried about the light grey color, but was pleasantly surprised when blood wiped right off with a damp towel. I'm 5'8" & 135 pounds and the medium was best (I ordered a large to compare). So far, the coat has been warm enough for winter in Pittsburgh!

I bought The North Face Metropolis and the Patagonia Down With It. The quality of the Patagonia jacket is so much better than the TNF Metropolis. The zipper on the Patagonia runs so smoothly. The zipper on the Metropolis is very sticky. It took me five tries to finally be able to zip it up. I hear many say this is a manufacturing issue. I hope it only affects a few batches. Also, I read some comments that TNF's quality has gone down hill recently. Also, feathers/down keep popping out on the TNF jacket. I have been wearing the Patagonia Down With It for two weeks and I haven't seen one feather yet. I am 5'3" and 110lb. The small fits me well. I can wear a thick sweater underneath the jacket with no issues.

I love this coat! It's comfortable, the long length keeps the wind out, and the blue color is really nice - not too bright but not too dark or dull. The pockets are well placed and there are no awkward bulges as the zipper goes down. The zipper is easy to access and the two-way zip feature is nice for the car. The hood is huge, but can be cinched up, which helps, but it's still a funny hood. That wasn't enough to stop me from keeping this coat, though, because it's been great for this Chicago winter we've been having, with temps ranging from the low 20s to the 30s. It's not quite warm enough for the teens, but with a layer underneath, will do just fine if you're not outside too long. I like that it's not quite the same as the North Face coat that almost everyone in the north shore of Chicago wears, but has the same (or better) functionality, without the overly obvious logo.

Great versatile winter coat. Good for 30 degree weather (F). Not overly warm but can layer. I ordered a size small (size 4 bottom, 2 top) and probably could have gone XS but have a little extra space to layer and not too baggy if I don't. Color is a pretty blue. A good, casual day-time coat.

Warm, comfortable well made, low profile (logo almost hidden with the same color thread on sleeves). The no logo thing can be good and bad. I personally think if Patagonia makes their logo as noticeable as North Face, their products will sell with even higher price. I love this parka although it is a littler too long for my petite frame. The fabric, zippers are all of very high quality.

My resolution this year was to walk my dog at least two miles every morning. After about a week, I knew I needed better coverage on my legs, so I started looking for a longer down coat. I own several Patagonia items and they are all top quality and long lasting, so the choice was easy. This coat is worth every penny - super warm for those cold Chicago winter days! The style is comfortable and the removable hood is a great option. The only small thing that I don't like is the full zip in the mouth area - most coats put some fleece here since it will be rubbing against your face. This coat doesn't have that, and I also find it difficult to use the full zip with a scarf around my mouth, there's just not enough room. Otherwise, it's a great coat and I've worn it pretty much every day since it arrived!

I just got this in the mail and wore this on a 20 degree day with 24 MPH wind. It kept me very warm. It is windproof and perfect for cold windy days. I got it in white because it was the only color left. the sleeves got very dirty. Im debating weather to keep it or return it bc its seems like it will keep gettting dirty. Its a very great coat. the sleeves run a little long. overall I love this coat. buy it!

Love this coat. Living in Wisconsin, I needed something warm. In these past weeks, when we got slammed by the 'polar vortex', I was comfortable in this coat. On normal winter days (20-30 degrees) I wear a light scarf, but not more because otherwise I would be too warm. Puffy obviously, but not bulky. Highly recommend.

I love the fit of this coat. Not bulky, and warm down to 20* or even below with another layer. I did have trouble with the high collar when it's zipped to the top. My chin is too low. But my solution is to put my scarf around my neck on the inside of the coat and only zip to the last 6" or so. That way the collar lies flat. I am 5'7" and weigh 132, but I am hippy and needed L size because it is slim cut. I had to shorten the sleeves.

This coat is wonderful. Very warm. Not sure about other reviewer's claims about the snug fit, I am ~120 5'5" and got a small and there is room for a thick layer underneath. I needed a warm coat that could either be fancy or casual, and this fits the bill perfectly. I love it.

Love this jacket...I am 5'7" and the jacket fits well although I wish the waist was a little more narrow. The sleeves are definitely long enough and the color is a very muted but nice.

Absolutely love this coat! It was just what I was looking for as far as style and function. I needed something that was long enough to cover my legs without going down to the ground for walking to work. It is very warm without being too bulky and it came in a great color. Was looking for something other than black - Have gotten many compliments on it since I've been wearing it.

I have been looking for a longer coat that looks great yet provides extra warmth without all the bulk and puffiness of many winter coats. This coat is perfect. It fits well, is extremely warm, yet the slim fit is quite becoming. Each time I wear it I get a compliment on it. The hood is an added plus for my needs!

This coat does exactly what I hoped it would, keeps me totally warm in the cool damp weather of the northwest while walking my dogs. I love this color, which is visible, and think the coat looks very nice as well. The inside pocket is invaluable, the zippers work very well, and the hood is just right. It is also easy to zip on and off, and stays in place when I have it up. The hand-warmer pockets are great too. I have worn it in rain and it is fine. Really, thumbs up all the way on this purchase. I bought a small, arms are fine for length, and often in other things are too long for me. I am 5'4", 110 pounds.

I bought this coat to help get through cold sporting events in Atlanta. Unfortunately, this jacket runs very very long. I ordered a small and I am 5'1 and it came halfway down my leg. Very unattractive.

I wanted to love this coat. It is stylish and figure flattering, and the navy blue color is very attractive. But it just was not warm enough on a windy day in the 20s. The down in the sleeves was inadequate and cold are came through. The hood was also too large, and it was difficult to cinch it down enough to make it wearable. I do not think that the hood would provide enough shelter on a really cold day. Also, there are no storm cuffs in the sleeves, and this does cut down on warmth. This coat would be great for a climate that stays in the 30s, but it just is not enough for our upstate New York winters. Also, a small detail worth noting: the navy blue color has a white ribbon lining the zipper. This is pretty noticeable and gives the coat a more blue and white sailor suit look.

I ordered this jacket in February for an upcoming cold trip to Chicago and was very impressed. The jacket is lightweight, very comfortable, warm and a good cut. It is a slim fit so hugs your body more. I bought a medium after reading the reviews on sizing - typically I wear a small, 120lbs, size 27 jeans, 5'4. With the medium I'm able to wear a sweater underneath and not have any fit issues. The length is just above the knees, the pockets are well lined and feel warm. Overall, a great buy.

Nice length, but not warm enough for 20F. I have to wear my warmer shorter coat most of the time when it gets really chilly. Doesn't have wrist cuffs or zip high enough to really keep the cold out. Mine is nice and soft though.
