Very nice super light shoe. Fyi offers very little if any top of foot instep protection from impact (thin mesh fabric). Hardly feels i have shoes on at all.

This is my 3rd pair of Vivobarefoot shoes, to include the Aqua Lite and the Ultra M, all in size 42. I have unusually wide feet (size 8eeeeee)and the Vivo's have been the only shoes that fit comfortably. Unfortunately, the Breatho Trail is made 1/2 inch longer than the other models. This isn't an issue if you have normally proportioned feet.

Replicates barefoot running as close to actually running barefoot. Highly flexible, yet feels sturdy on trails. I like that they look cool and stylish and a big bonus is that it's vegan. Would definitely recommend to a friend and buy another pair.

I bought these shoes for Tough Mudder Austin 2012. I highly recommend them for running Tough Mudder or any other training where you will be on slippery ground. They are not ideal for running on the hardpacked dirt, but are perfect for anything wet, soft or slippery. There were many slopes climbing in and out of pits, etc. where I had stable footing and people wearing running shoes were sliding with every step. Plus, they don't soak in or hold any water so they stayed light through the entire race. While they aren't great for running on hard dirt, my feet were not sore at all after 12 miles of Tough Mudder. My only complaint is about the people who wrote that they run small. I wear the same size as I do in all other brand of athletic and dress shoes.

First off, these run a full size small. I am a size 13 for most shoes, a size 46 in Five Fingers and a 47 in the Breatho Trail. Amazon even lists the 47 Breatho as a size 13. These are great in between shoes for me, nothing is like a Five Finger for fit, feel, and function, but I cannot wear them to work. These are now my go-to shoes for work, travel, and every day.

Brands I'd also recommend: Five Fingers

As someone with wide feet, and high instep I've struggled for years to find shoes that have fit, often having to cut, and remove stitching just to get some level of comfort! I'd also struggle with niggling pains, knee, back, hip, from just short runs in conventional running shoes, to the point that last year I gave up trying and stuck to my bike, until...I discovered barefoot/minimal shoes. These Breatho's are very comfortable, let my toes spread out and are light and flexible, but tough enough to be called a real trail shoe. After modifying my running style to accommodate the barefoot method, I found I was running in a far more efficient manner, and on my first outing I had to stop myself in case I strained anything, now after a few weeks of strengthening the forefoot and calves I'm doing double what I used to do in normal shoes, and with hardly a niggle. These shoes make running through sticky mud, swampy grass, gravel trail, snow and ice a lot of fun, I now look at running with a new found zeal, instead of a chore to try to keep fit. The aggressive grips really give plenty of traction, up and down, through a variety of surfaces As I'm using these every few days in the midst of a UK winter, I'm coming back caked in mud and soaked usually, but my feet seem to hold up okay in these Breatho's, I wear a bamboo sock which seems to keep my feet warm enough. Another good thing about the Breatho's is that you can shove them in the washing machine, which is what I've had to do with my grey/blue pair, so I've ordered another pair in black in the sale half price! Sizing wise, I'm a UK 12 in every single shoe I own apart from Clarks which I take an 11, my Vivobarefoot are a 46 which is a UK 11, so for me they run at least half a size to a a full size bigger! in comparison my New Balance MT00's are a UK 12.5 and a 47.5! So try before you buy!

Brands I'd also recommend: NB Minimus

I ordered the 12 based on other reviews that said this runs large, but guess what, they had to go back and I got my correct size, an 11, which fits just right with or without a sock. These are my first minimalist shoes and it's been an interesting experience having put about 100 miles on them now. Lots of painful adjustment below the knee, especially the soles of the feet of course. Now finally getting to the point where everything feels good, my feet are noticeably more solid and stronger than they ever have been, and my hips and knees are complaining a lot less after a run. I did basically my normal heel-strike gait at first, but the more I get used to these and the stronger the calves get, the less time my heel spends on the ground. I have to agree, it maybe a little slower, but running this way is way more fun and seems better for the body as a whole. I have no plans to go back to padded support shoes. About the shoes - minor problems with the sole insert slipping after a few miles, it will bunch up in the toe. And the treads could be stickier - they are okay for packed dirt or dry rock, but when things are damp (as usual here in NH) there can be slippage. Many of the cleats have torn off, though it doesn't seem to make much difference in terms of traction yet. Other than that, they are well designed and doing the minimal job they need to do.
