This is a fine shoe. I tried NB Minimus (trail0, road0, life0, life20, trail20, and trail20v.2), Saucony Hattori, Merrell Barefoot Trail, Nike Free 2, and my previous winner, the Asics Gel Enduro. This shoe wins. Roomy at the toes, snug in the heel, comfortable at the midfoot, lightweight, flexible, and grippy. This shoe is the real deal. No seriously, just buy it. What are you waiting for?

Brands I'd also recommend: merrell barefoot, saucony, asics

This is a very hot shoe as in attractive to others who see it on your foot. My trainer loved it. And I feel it's a winner over and beyond what others might think too. The shoe fits true to size. Will fit a wide foot as in 2E fine. And of course it's just simply very "cool" to have a barefoot shoe in your closet and on your foot. Especially if you want a date!

Brands I'd also recommend: Nike, Keen, Ecco are all my favorites along with Merrell.

As a long time runner, I had been eager get into barefoot/minimalist running, but I wasn't ready to take the full plunge with a pair of Vibrams. The Merrell Road Gloves seemed like a good stepping stone. All in all, I really like these shoes. After my first run in these, I could instantly feel the difference. My calves and the muscles around my shins were sore. In traditionally running shoes, my calves were never sore. This tells me that the shoes are doing what they're supposed to engaging all of the muscles in my legs and feet. And after two weeks I've also noticed that my horrible pronation problem has fixed itself. In traditional running shoes I pronated so badly that the tread on the outer portion of my sole consistently wore down to flatness with the rest of the sole in good shape. The Road Gloves somehow forced me to correct myself. Which is fantastic. A couple minor gripes... 1. I can't wear these things sans-socks. There's a rough stitch on the inside toward the outer edge of the sole that rubs the hell out of my feet and has given me blisters every time. But I throw on a pair of socks and I'm good. This could just be my weird feet. 2. They are a bit unsightly. I'm okay with the deisgn overall, if it weren't for that cheesy geographic line pattern. Is Merrel. paying homage to Trapper Keepers? What's the deal? All said - really glad I purchased the shoes and would do so again if given the choice.

Very similar fit to my trail gloves, which for me means narrow, and a bit clunky. I find the Vibram soles on the Merrells to be stiffer then on five-fingers, with too much pressure on the arch and a narrow toe box compared to others (Vivobarefoot). Aside from that, these are good looking shoes, and if you don't have issues with the fit, should be great for you. Merrell quality is always great, I just prefer Vivobarefoot, or Vibrams for minimalist shoes.

These are some of the most comfy barefoot shoes I've run or walked in. No blisters at all, and great feel for the ground. Sturdy shoe also, holding up well. Much better than some other brands I've recently tried. My only complaint is they feel slightly slick on wet pavement, but otherwise love these.

Great running shoe! My run consists of mainly road but also gravel/grass patches. I was a bit skeptic about how these shoes would work on loose gavel and dirt patches (since Merrell specifically designed an off road running shoe) but they held up great and didn't feel the slightest slippage in traction. So light and comfortable to me that I wear them to and from work as well. Super happy with the shoe. Will def buy again!

Not the purest minimal shoe experience, there is a slight bit of arch and cushioning. That's fine by me. I need it on the streets where my running motion is much more repetitive than on uneven trails. Still, it is minimal enough to force you to land on your forefoot and there is plenty of room in the toebox for your feet to splay naturally. For just enough upper and sole to keep your feet from getting cut and scraped go with the Merrell Trail Glove.

Great shoe. Be careful if you have a very narrow foot. I'm normally a 11 and ordered a size 11. They were way to big and had to go to a 10.5.

Great shoe to continue my transition. Having read the research, I'm more and more convinced that barefoot is best. I'm also paranoid about injuries with the transition from my old motion control shoes I've been going slow, starting with the Saucony Kinvara for a few months. I'm now loving this Road Glove. Great traction and fit for my wide feet. I have a pair of Vivobarefoot that are too minimal but feel I'll be ready for them after a few months in these. I've also been doing the 100 up exercises, which I think help a lot, and are a great workout themselves.

Brands I'd also recommend: vivobarefoot, saucony, five fingers

The materials are fantastic...linning is silky smooth, the upper is durable and comfortable... Overall I was disappointed with the shoe due to it's molded arch.. It's not arch support per say, but it does impede mine from functioning properly which lead to knee pain.. That being said I think it's a great shoe for things other than running (for me anyway) and very comfortable to wear around.

This is a change of concept. Comfortable, featherweight, take your time getting used to the difference. Once I get comfortable with the change I might increase my opinion. For now I like the weight and the look. It has very strong arch support and good looks.

First off, let me mention that I love this shoe. I am not the type that writes reviews on every item I purchase, but I felt I had to write one for this shoe. I have put a decent amount of mileage in these shoes, and have run several 5k's and can say that they are very comfortable to run in (I am 6'4", 170lbs). It's almost like not wearing shoes at all. They are light and just plain stay out of they way and let you do what you intended when you bought them... Run. They are so comfortable that I have even started wearing them as my "everyday" shoe, to work, school and to run errands. After injuring my IT band a few years ago, I decided to switch to a more minimal running shoe to prevent further injury. So far it seems to be working, and haven't had any problems with it. That being said, I still end up with sore calves the next day after a 2 or 3 mile run. I am still transitioning after several months of owning these. My advice is to take it slow and be patient while your body adjusts to the new way of running. I sometimes end up with blisters on the balls of my feet after running in these shoes, but I really think that is the fault of the socks, having too much freedom to move around in the shoe. The blisters don't happen every time, even over the same distance and the same route. Spend the Ben and Ten and get these, you won't be disappointed. I'd buy another pair if Merrell put out a Black with Red features!

It is important to get the right size, taking into account if you will wear socks or not. The toe box is so roomy that even a proper fit might feel too big at first. But once you run in them, you be glad of the extra space for your toes to splay out and all other shoes will feel... confining.

I bought these a few months back as my indoor gym shoes. I own trail gloves and true gloves for my outdoor activities. Like the trail and true gloves these are a great 0 drop shoe. very roomy toe box, minimal cushioning, and the ever present vibram sole. So far i have put over 100 miles on them on the treadmill. The have survived countless hours of wear and tear while weight training as well. The construction is top notch and durability has been great thus far. Unlike the true glove these took no breaking in to feel right. If you're looking for a barefoot shoe designed for road running or indoor activities look no further.

I run 15 - 20 miles a week. This is my first set of barefoot shoes, and I love them. I tend to over pronate when I run...so far no injuries with the Merrell Barefoot Road Glove. Been using them for a month or so, and love them.

My husband thoroughly enjoys this shoe! So glad that Merrell listened to its customers and reviewers and made a road version of their popular trail glove! The Vibram soles cut in at the arch and hug the foot like a glove, but the flat-as-a-pancake design in the heel and the wider, flatter ball are perfect for road and pavement running. Functions well on wet asphalt, not as well on very slick, wet concrete, but with some minor adjustment in your plant, you won't slip. Nice, roomy toebox to allow full toesplay, and nice, non-articulated toes for those with different sized feet or who simply don't want to be stared at! Breathes very nicely for warm places, and the mesh provides more stretch as well. Probably not for extra-wide feet, and unfortunately does not have the lacing design of the trail shoe to allow for a custom fit. Overall, fantastic shoe!

Absolutely the most comfortable shoe I've ever run in. I've gone from frequent back, knee, ankle & foot pain to virtually none by switching to "barefoot" running in this shoe. If they ever discontinue these, I'll buy 3 or 4 extra pairs and stash them.

A great minimalist shoe, with a traditional shoe look and feel. You definitely notice the zero drop from heel to toe in cushioning. This would be a nice shoe to start getting into free running. However, if you are looking for more of a barefoot feel from your footwear, go for Vibram Five Fingers which will give you the most free running feel. Overall, the Merrell is a great training shoe for functional weight lifting and training without looking completely alien.

In almost 44 years of shoe-wearing I have never owned a pair of shoes that get even close to these in terms of comfort. I literally despise taking them off. They fit my feet perfectly, and feel something like a springy, sporty, durable slipper you are "allowed" to wear outdoors. I am not a barefoot junkie, but given how comfortable these are, I may become one. Just ordered another pair of Merrell Barefoots, this time the trail version, wanting to see what those are like with just a slight touch more support for rougher terrain. But for me, this shoe (the Road Glove) is perfect for everyday surfaces and is simply untouchable in terms of comfort.

Merrell, please do not stop making these shoes. I have been a runner for over 15 years and recently transformed my running form to the barefoot style. Your trail glove was instrumental in that process, along with a number of other shoes that did not really fit the bill (inov8, Nike free, Vibram 5 finger). But these shoes turned out to be the perfect balance of cushioning (ever so slight but noticeable) and fit (the lace-up gives a nice supportive squeeze on the arch) that makes running on asphalt nice and smooth. Nice job!

I am a female, but prefer the men's model in Merrell Shoes. I really like these shoes. I had been wearing VFFs, but felt like my feet were getting beat up when I run on road mix (lots of pointy/sharp rocks). I tried these and was very happy I did. They have just enough protection to be comfortable regardless of terrain, but still maintain fair groundfeel. When I first got them, they felt very stiff. After a couple of runs in them and twisting them every which way with my hands, they've loosened up and are now very comfortable. I like them so much, I have them in two different colors now. These are a great multi-terrain shoe.
