No shoe is ever perfect, but these exceeded expectations for trail shoes. Put 700+ miles on them over my final 4 months on small 'forward operating base' in Afghanistan - a crazy mix of heavy sharp gravel, small loose gravel, sharp pointed rocks embedded in clay, rutted clay, and moon-dust sand. Rarely dealt with moisture. They were still going strong when I had to toss 'em (not enough room in bag on way home). Biggest victory was allowing my feet to heal from punishing conditions in less-hardy shoes used during first 5 months there and healed even while I was still keeping my mileage up. A seam on the inside of the foot gave me some minor blistering early on, but became a non-problem. I'd tape or lube more for the first miles out of the box when I get another pair. Looking forward to seeing performance on moist Pacific Northwest trails. Thanks, Brooks nicely done.

The Brooks Cascadia 7 fits my foot great. I have flat, semi-narrow feet. The only improvement I would recommend is a narrow option. I have to pull the string very tight to secure my narrow feet, but it works. They work great for long-distance trail running. I just completed my first 50-miler in Damascus, VA with the Cascadia 7's. With the support of Superfeet (black) and Body Glide, I had no blisters and almost no trouble with hot spots. It's great to have a shoe that takes care of my feet so I can take better care of other areas of my body.

This is the best running shoe I have ever owned! Love the feel, look, everything is perfect. I highly recommend this shoe and Zappos for ordering. The service from a question I had over the phone, to receiving these shoes the next business day was impressive! All for free shipping. Thank you!

I bought these shoes, like them, but had to return them. I have a narrow heel and this shoe left my foot feeling sloppy. I cinched the laces tightly and they seemed okay, but it left nagging doubts about whether I would be happy in long term so I decided to return them and keep shopping. The felt true to size and was disappointed about the wiggle in the heel. I used the runners knot in the lacing like I do in all my shoes to keep my heel snug. I often have this heel problem, if you don't, you will likely enjoy this shoe.

The shoe is incredibly comfortable, has neutral support. It is a bit heavy but is a great traning shoe. I do not do much trail runing but still find myself running over icy and muddy areas and it has held traction.

Just an awesome shoe great over any kind of ground. Really stable, super comfortable. I have always worn Brooks but in my opinion the Cascadia is their best overall shoe for comfort as well as performance. You will not be disappointed.

These are absolutely the most comfortable trail shoes around whether you are walking in the woods for months at a time or walking around your hometown. My girlfriend and I just hiked the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada through deserts, into forests, and over countless mountain ranges and these shoes performed spectacularly through it all. They handle all types of terrain amazingly well whether we are on the trail or back in the civilized shoe. If you are looking for a shoe that makes you feel as if you are walking on air whether you are boulder hopping, crossing rushing waters, or just walking around town, then the Cascadia is it.

Thinking that I was going to do more trail running I ordered these. On the trail these shoes are amazing. I never had a slip and I was able to take turns at speed. Climbing hills was a treat. I ran about .5 miles on pavement to the trail, and I thought they felt great on the road as well. My running has came to a screeching halt but I have repurposed my Cascadias as hiking shoes. Order half a size larger than your regular shoes. I typically wear a 11 in Brooks and the 11½ fits perfectly.

I bought my Cascadia 7s online, sight unseen, based on the Yahoo article that rated them highly. I'm a nurse, and I've been through numerous shoes, athletic and otherwise, but always have foot pain near the balls of my feet at the end of the day. When my 7s came, I was completely happy with the design, the fit, and after my first 12+ hour day at work, THRILLED to be walking out pain free! I can't say enough about these wonderful shoes!!! This is the only shoe I'll wear to work now, so please don't change a thing!!

Very good shoe for running off road! I run barefoot on road most of the time or in minimalist shoes and was not taking that into consideration. The arch on the Cascadia was pretty moderate which I had to get used to again. I have run tough mudders in these and they were fantastic. Trails as well were fantastic. They will and do wear down quickly on paved or hard road surfaces but that is not what they were designed for. Highly recommend for the most aggressive of terrain all the way down to the random hiking trails.

Love them! I have bad feet (2 surgeries) and knees (5 surgeries) but spend a lot of time on mountain trails. These shoes have made it possible for me to to a lot more because of the level of cushion combined with a rugged sole. The green is flashy, which I like, but I also have them in the grey / red for more conservative occasions.

These are perfect trail runners with normal to slight supination. Very comfortable and stable. Size is ever so slightly on the small side. I am 250 and I cannot use these on the road, but lighter runners might be able to use for both trail and road.
Brands I'd also recommend: For road, Brooks Ghost 5 or Mizuno Wave Rider 14

I've been happily wearing Salomon XT Comps for years and years, but the quality has gone down and the price up. So I was looking for something to replace them and these are perfect. Lightweight, great traction, offset lacing, comfortable to wear walking on pavement or trails. They run a half size smaller than Salomons and a full size smaller than Pumas. The color choices aren't the greatest, but I bought the green with yellow swoosh and am happy with them.

Great shoe, after many others I've tried and had issues with. After running in the hills and putting many miles on this shoe, I just backpacked the John Muir Trail in Yosemite in these, with 40something lbs on my back, and they still did me right -- no blisters or pain.

Great looking shoe with a great fit and feel. My son absolutely loves these. Had the Cascadia 6 last year and these have been improved. Will continue to purchase this shoe line in the future.

I ordered the Brooks Cascadia 7 because I loved the look & the reviews said they give great arch support. I was not disappointed. I stand on concrete all day & these shoes are wonderful. I do not need my arch supports because the shoe provides that & they are incredibly comfortable. I must say, much to my embarrassment, that I did not realize these were the men's shoe. Yes, they are a little large but I tighten the laces & they are fine. I have also received many compliments on the shoe. If you stand for a living, these are the shoes for you!

I am heavy runner (220 lbs) with large arches, narrow 'ish heels, and a wide fore foot. I am neutral to under pronator and typically use a neutral cushioning shoe. -This is my first pair of Cascadia. I got this shoe for trail running and to train for an off-road 1/2 marathon. I love the look of the shoe. The mesh on the top has a cool snake skin looking pattern and the off center lacing looks interesting as well as being comfortable. It has great grip and a comfortable Brooks sole. ***My only problem with this shoe is that my foot is a little too wide for this shoe at the ball of the foot area. It tend to spill over the shoe a little and on long runs (over 5 miles) I tend to get a blister just forward of my arches where my foot pushes over the edge the shoe. I tend to have this issue with Brooks shoes. I wish they made them a little wider.

I wasn't thrilled with the color options so I went with the grey/orange. The design, comfort and performance of the shoe made up for any color complaints. I used these shoes right out of the box on day hikes and trail runs on Mt. Rainier and Olympic National Park. They worked great on every surface including snowfields, stream crossings, steep ascent and descent, rocky/heavily rooted trails, rainforest, and pavement. I am 6'2", 190 lbs and I felt like the shoes provided great support - no sliding. The shoes really breathed well. Although the shoes did not have Gore-Tex, they did dry out quickly. Only complaint is that the really cool material on the top of the shoe on my right foot ripped a little bit on a tree root. My Cascadia were so comfortable that I only wore these shoes or flip flops the entire trip. If you are looking for Gore-Tex look at the Ghost and Adrenaline models. I will wear these shoes for local trail runs and winter running back here in Chicago based upon my experience with the shoes out west. I currently train with these shoes when I run on gravel paths.

I put these on out of the box and used them 10 straight days during day hikes on Mt. Rainier and Olympic National Park. They worked in snow, rocks, rain forest and pavement. The fit was true and they were very comfortable. During the same time frame I took 2 road runs of about 4 miles each time and 3 trail runs of about 2-3 miles. I bought these purely to serve as a lightweight day hike shoe but I liked the weight, traction and comfort so much on the trail that I am going to wear them on a 5k next month that will be on gravel and dirt. Originally, I did not like the color but the utility of the shoe is great. The style is cool - wish they had better color options.

I truly do not understand why all the great reviews for these shoes. They truly underwhelmed me and made my legs and feet feel weird out of the box. I even put them aside and tried them the next morning; still a problem. Lucky for me that I had the Saucony ProGrid Peregrine 2 to test against these, which arrived the same day. The Brooks allowed my feet to shift inward, and felt that I did not have lateral support for my ankle (something my other Brooks did have). My feet did not feel as stable as in the Saucony. Plus there were weird pressure points towards the ball of my foot. The Brooks looked a bit bloated, like boats on my feet, versus the sleek, sexy profile of the Saucony. The Brooks have more cushioning at the toes than the Peregrine 2, but you can obviously see that from the photo. I really wanted to like the Brooks, and was sad that I would have to send them back. Lucky for me, Zappos has plenty of other shoes to order. And I have already ordered another pain of Saucony -- this time, the Omni 11, just for cushioned running on treadmills and sidewalks. I may try a Salomon for trails, as my cross country boots made by them do fit well.
