Love them and they look cool and get appreciative comments. I immediately removed the ankle strap and use them as slip-ons. They fit fine, never feel slappy or loose. Perfect if you want a stylish minimalist sandal with good grip. I especially like wearing them at the pool because the floor there is slippery to bare feet.

The shoe is acceptably made of ill-conceived materials that do not promote the natural motions of the foot as advertised. The sandals are uncomfortable and even painful to wear.

This has turned out to be a great shoe for the price. I'm new to minimalist running and running in general, but thus far it has worked out to be a great shoe for me and has accomplished exactly what it sets out to accomplish. My only complaint is that after about 3 weeks of wear the strap began to wear down and has given me awful blisters on the inside of my foot where it wraps around to the top.

This is a great barefoot sandal with a few issues such as taking some time to break in, as the rubber straps around your toes rub in some non-conventional ways. Once callouses form, though, the sandal feels great. It has potential to smell pretty bad, especially during a hot, sweaty summer. I only use mine for running and working outside, being sure to spray them when I am done. The mechanism keeps the shoe on quite nicely, although you cannot customize the fit like a true huarache. It looks a little funny, but that is not what minimal footwear is really about, is it? The sole is the winning point. The kevlar bass is incredibly thin, with great feel for the ground, with total protection from scary spiky things.

Excellent running sandal for those who like a good barefoot experience. But, the toe separator is fairly large so if you're not used to it, be prepared for some blisters or skin rubbing between your bid toe and the next toe on your first few runs.

I am a women's US 9½ and bought the 41-42 (S) in green. They are too long on one foot by 1" and ½" on the other. I do not feel like this affects the functionality of the shoes. I have Morton's toe (so my second toes stick out beyond my other toes) and I had to carve away part of the toe area so my toe would not continue being caught on it. Now I like them. I do regret buying these because now VivoBarefoot has come out with a women's version in my size.

I really love these shoes. I was hesitant to try these shoes that I'd never heard of but was intrigued. I do almost all of my running (except in really rough terrain or snow) in vibram five fingers. But I recently moved to South Carolina and I was looking for shoes that were a lot more open than the VFF but still had support and a minimalist feel. I was also looking for a shoe that slipped on and off easier than vibrams to make them more useful in everyday use and also when I want to transition to barefoot mid-run. I definitely found all those things in these shoes. Two disclaimers: They took a lot of getting used to. Even though they have good support, there are still fewer contact and pressure points in these shoes than in other shoes, and so that focuses pressure in certain areas. Between the toes is the hardest. I got a pretty good blister on one foot on my second toe on my first run, but with a band-aid on for the next few runs, that healed and now the toe does just fine. They have also rubbed in a few other places, but within 3 weeks my feet are totally adapted and I can wear them all day. 2nd disclaimer: Minimalist shoes take getting used to for running, this applies for any minimalist shoe, but especially for this one, which really has zero padding or arch support (by design). I'm a big believer in minimalist shoes, but when you've had your foot in the casts that are passed off as running shoes today for many years, adjustments will have to be made. Other negatives? The removable heel strap is a little bit of work to get in and out. If it was easier than it would be a breeze to make these into flip-flops, but i've stopped doing that because it is too much work. Sizing: I am right on the edge of a 42 and 43. I went with the size 9 which tops out at 42 and I am glad I did. There is plenty of tightening ability left in the shoe and any bigger would leave a lot hanging off the heel. Style: They are kind of ugly, no getting around it. But it kind of grows on you.

Okay, I wear 43 in all my other vivos (14 in all - I know I'm nuts) but this felt too big so I got a size smaller, but even though these look too big on my feet, they are much more comfortable, so much so that the others will go to the local shelter and I will get some bigger ones in other colors. Not sure how one could wear flip - flops when these are out there. Actually, I want to keep vivo a secret. As a neurologist I see lots of people with foot pain when the podiatrists can't figure it out what their problems are. To me it's obvious - too many years wearing built up soles and heels. Have made too much money off them! But when I tell them they think I'm nuts. Anyway, as they say "a fool and their money."

I bought these for a backpacking trip through Nicaragua this summer and these sandals were great. They are light and surprisingly durable for such thick soles. The part that covers the big toe saved me a few times when I accidentally kicked uneven pavement. My only complaint is that about the strap, it has this stitching where the Velcro is and after two days of wearing them the stitches ripped apart. That was no big deal, I sewed it back together but for such expensive flip-flops I did nit expect that to happen after two days of use. Overall I am super happy with them.

I'll continue wearing these around the house, but the design choice to split the big toe off from the rest of the toes creates an instant blister spot in a place no other shoe presents. The Achilles would be much better without the split toe and with a bit more toe coverage.

I have been trying to adjust my feet to their new environment by just wearing the sandals 15 minute at a time every day. It has been several weeks and progress has been slow. I will continue trying to increase the time and if not successful I may opt to take Zappos up on the return refund policy.

I do not recommend these. They are hard. I put it on and didn't even have to walk. they were hurting. It's really hard up by the big toe. I wouldn't buy.

Living in an always hot and humid place I wanted shoes for comfort barefoot that resembled fivefingers. Happy to find 'flips without flop.' my everyday shoe and a great conversation starter. They'll never go unnoticed. If you plan to run in them, be wary of the cover that goes from the base of the first toe to the arch. Definite blister forming. Otherwise, love the shoe!

My alternative to toe shoes. Easier to take on an off. Anyone concerned about space between big toe and others shouldn't worry if they're used to flip flops. Shoes are incredibly comfortable in place of flip flops. I haven't been running in them though. You feel everything underneath your feet but your feet don't get punctured, etc. Plus, they obviously have great ventilation.

At first they rubbed between my toes really bad but they do get better each time you wear them. Just remember to give your feet some time between wearing them to heal up. Now I love mine and wear 'em whenever I can.

I've been running in minimalist shoes for about a year now, and I love it. I've got 2 pairs of Vivobarefoot shoes, so when I came across the Achilles for a good price, I figured I d give them a try. Initial impressions walking around the house and yard were good. I d be a little wary about the inside of my big and index toe rubbing the toe divider bit, but while walking, it wasn't a problem at all. Tried a few short runs down the driveway, and things felt fine. Then, I took them out for a proper run, and before I d gone a mile, I had rubbed a blister on the inside of my left index toe. I did the rest of my run (on trails) barefoot, which I often do. Time will tell if my toes will toughen up enough to run in them, but for now, I think I ll stick to casual use, though they're a bit goofy looking to wear around all the time. Lots of potential, but if the toe divider doesn't fit your feet right (it fit my right foot fine!), you may have some issues when you run in them.
