Gorgeous boots! I got the chocolate glazed vintage and they are amazing looking. Mine were a little darker than the picture, but they have that vintage, "I've been to hell and back and I'm here to tell the story" look about them, but in the coolest, steampunk, fantasy vintage way. I'm not young, I can't wear really really offbeat clothing without looking bizarre at my age (nor do I want to) but I like to wear some clothing pieces that have personality and a little edginess. When you tend to live in jeans and tee shirts, as I do, you pick your extraneous fashion choices carefully. These fit the bill perfectly for my lifestyle and fashion fix. I wear a 7.5 and I'm true to size, these were perfect in that size. They are pull on style, so there will be a little struggle in the beginning to get them on for a while. That's cool, that works in the long run.

I love these boots and get compliments on them all the time. My only complaints would be that they are a little tight in the toe box compared to my other pair of Fryes and some of the finish on the leather around the toe and heel has started cracking off. The leather is distressed so it's not very noticeable, but I'm a little disappointed at the quality of the leather. For the price I thought the finish would last more than a few months.

Wow! I got the chocolate glaze and I am blown away! I ordered my normal size of 7½ (in other boots I wear an 8). They are comfortable from the first slide on. They are amazing quality and now I must have the tall version! The glaze looks pretty close to the picture. They are edgy, unique, and eye grabbing. I like that the buttons are muted on these and blend in more than contrast but are still very apparent. Yummy!

As you will probably gather after reading many reviews posted by me here for Frye products, I am a Frye lover and own many pairs of Frye boots, flats and handbags. I love Frye and I love Zappos! The majority of my Frye collection has been purchased from Zappos and 6pm. You cannot beat the prices, service and fast shipping rates of these 2 sites. Many of my purchases have been sent and received next day when I didn't even purchase next day shipping, impeccable service!! Anyway, on to the review. These boots are one of my faves, along with my Veronica slouch and Paige stud riding boots. Of all of my Frye boots, these are my 3 loves!!! I have found Frye sizing to be pretty all over the place. My Fryes range from size 5.5 to 6.5, my true size is 6. This style Frye is one of the truest fits in my opinion. Unlike my other Fryes where I either have to go up or down by a half size, these are my true size 6 and fit perfect. However, they can be tricky to get into at first until you learn the trick to sliding them on and the stretch out some. When I first received them I was disappointed because I thought they were not going to fit and would have to go back or I would have to get some stretch spray and a stretcher to stretch them a bit. All of this was going through my mind as I tried to slide my foot in, I was not happy as I got the last pair in the color I wanted that was remotely close to my size, the only other pair was like a 9. My heel did not seem to want to go in the heel bed at first, surprising as I assumed they would be very easy to get on being a shorter boot. I found that the buckled strap was catching my heel, so I undid the buckles. As my foot was sliding in the foot bed there was a moment that it seems very tight, but then once my foot was all the way in its perfect. I believe the problem is with the narrow sizing of the upper foot and ankle area, but once you get it on its great!! They feel wonderful. I wanted to point this out, as if you exchange this for a larger size to get them on easier, I believe the actual foot part would be too large. It is just strangely porportioned, ankle to foot ratio. I would like to also point out that I do not have wide or large feet at all, if anything my fe e t are small and slim. While Fryes do have some strange sizing and design issues, inconsistent sizing, very narrow shafts, etc. Once you do find a pair that fits and works for you, the quality and comfort is outstanding. I am a boot lover and own many great brands, Born, Stevens, Ugg etc. but Fryes remain my favorite and are worth the extra little aggravations. If your considering your first Frye purchase, just do it, you will not regret your decision. This is a great all around boot to own and if you don't plan on purchasing several different styles, this would be a great one to go with. It's a shorter style boot, but not overly short like booties and the shaft height makes it perfect for skinny jeans, regular boot cut jeans, shorts, dresses, pretty much anything.

These boots are super cute and were comfortable and easy to get on. I'm returning only because I think these are a little edgy/trendy for me to spend the $$ on them and would prefer something a little more classic. Zappos service was awesome as always!

Love this boot! The fit is not perfect as the boot slides in the back but wearing a thick sock helps. And I am certain a size smaller would be too small. The look, style, comfort (other than the slipping in the back) are awesome!

I ordered these in the gray and I'm so happy I did! I own my fair share of Fryes (and boots for that matter), but almost every pair I own is black!! My wardrobe mainly consists of blacks and Grays so imagine how happy I was to find these in the gray color! It's not a dark gray more of a taupey gray but nonetheless they look great with any color. Now my usual size shoe is a 7 however my "frye" size is a 6.5 for the most part. I ordered these in a 6.5 and they were perfect! A little snug right out of the box but that's normal since they will stretch with continued wear. These were easy to pull on and off and the leather quality lives up to the Frye name. Ive got small legs/calves so it's no issue for me to wear these with skinnies and leggings. Definitely a new favorite in my closet!

I've been watching this shoe for a long time- finally pulled the trigger with the great price drop. Unfortunately will need to size down- they do run large. Normally a pretty solid 8.5 but thinking of trying a 7.5 - they are really that big. Beautifully made though!

Funky, comfy, and unique both in design and color. Love these, and they loved my feet immediately, right out of the box. I've seen this kind of distressing only in Frye boots, and it's a great look with jeans.

I stalked these boots for months, but the price tag always scared me away. After looking at them again online for the millionth time, I decided to pull the trigger and I'm glad I did, although there are some negatives to this boot. I'll start with the pros: 1.) They are beyond awesome and hot to look at (I got the chocolate glazed vintage)...I get compliments every time I wear them from women and men. 2.) They make me feel like a bad-ass...and who doesn't like that? 3.) My name is Jenna, so these had to be mine. Cons: 1.) They're not uncomfortable, but at the same time, they're not comfortable. I will say that I have a lot of problems with my feet and am subject to pain. The beds are hard. With a cushioned insert it's better. 2.) I slip in these boots all the time. The bottom soles are so smooth, no matter how much I rough them up, they slide on smooth floor surfaces and on any surface with slight sand or gravel. If they had a toothed rubber sole or any sort of a rougher tooth, they'd be better and much safer. 3.) They are way too expensive to have the problems I just listed and that is disappointing. I do love these boots, I just wish I could wear them more. The slipping thing is my main concern.

The most comfortable boot ever! I live in the West and practically all I wear are boots for 10 months out of the year. I own plenty of great boots, like Old Gringo & Lucchesse, and thought No other brand would match up to their workmanship, comfort and style. And then I purchased these Fryes. All I can say is, WOW! I put them on and could not believe how incredibly comfortable they are. The stud design rocks, even though they may eventually cause this pair to go out of style. But zi'll never give them up. I do believe they'll last me forever. Although these aren't cowgirl style, they still look great with jeans and turquoise and silver, which I wear a lot. And they are great for travel too as they stay looking great, being of a vintage/distressed style - plus they are more comfortable than my expensive walking shoes. So, I'm adding Frye boots as a new brand in my extensive boot collection and have just ordered a new pair in a different style in black distressed leather. If you've never had the pleasure of owning a pair of Fryes, don't even stop to think about it. Buy some. You will thank me and Zappos!

Love the studs on these boots, balances out a girly dress by adding some toughness. But goes with so much more. It took 3-4 times wearing these to get comfortable. They felt narrow at first but now they don't. I normally wear a size 8 but based on other comments I got a 7.5, I'm very happy I did.

I was a little concerned about the price of these boots, as this was my first pair of Frye. I read the other reviews and ordered. Thank goodness I read and purchased! These boots are completely awesome. I walked around the city for hours, and look totally stylish. Worth every penny.

At this point, I am only rating this boot three stars. All of those are for the gorgeous appearance! The quality control is spotty at best. The first pair I got had a flaw in the leather...a thin spot that looked like it had been rubbed or scraped too thin. It also wasn't dyed well in that spot, so it was glaringly obvious. The second pair I got looked perfect, but the leather insole of one boot wasn't sewed right and didn't meet the tip of the toe like it should. That wouldn't be such a big deal if you have thick socks (can't fit thick socks in my size) or if you weren't scared that the whole insole may come loose with wear. I would have switched boots between orders to get one good pair...but these boots have dye lots that vary. They are obviously color-matched so that each pair looks right together, and switching would have created a lighter boot and a darker boot in a pair -- all wrong. Besides all that, when I'm paying this much for a pair of boots, they darn well better be perfect. Sigh. I'm just glad I'm buying from a decent retailer that is easy to work with and stands behind the products they sell. Third time was the charm, this pair is perfect inside and out. I'm still leaving my review at three stars, because having to try three times to get a good pair is a bit ridiculous. Check your order out well before wearing! This particular style runs a half size big and a touch narrower than typical, but since they are leather, the width will stretch a bit.

These boots are the kick-a Best. They are made with quality leather, and strong studded and buckle detail. These boots aren't cheap, and nothing on them feels cheap either. With care, they will last a long time. I went down 1/2 size as per other reviews. Let me tell you, it is WORK getting my feet into these babies. I have high arches, and without the use of a shoe horn, it takes about 10 minutes to wedge my feet into these boots...by then, my toes are crammed against the end of my socks. Once in the boots, they fit PERFECTLY. Taking them off is easy. My feet just slide out...so go figure! They have a rugged coolness that can off-set a more girly outfit. The warm cognac tone goes with everything. Get 'em. You won't be disappointed. But, you may need to start dressing for your day about 15 minutes earlier than you expect!

I just bought these in the gray. First off, I agree with the others who say it is not a true gray. It is a warmer color, more in the light brown, taupe family. In some lights they look grayish but I can really tell when I place something gray next to them that in fact, they are not gray. I still like them though. The color is still a soft neutral so I'm fine with it. They are a beautiful boot and the quality of the leather is top-notch. I love the height of the shaft (that sounds dirty doesn't it?). Everyone is wearing tall boots these days and I think a shorter boot like this is more unique. I am not a skinny woman (size 12) and they work well with my body-type. They look great with skinny jeans, leggings or wider legged jeans that are rolled up. Here's the odd thing, they feel a little different on each foot. I don't know if this is because they are hand-made or because my feet are not exactly the same size, although I have never experienced this with other shoes. One boot fits perfectly while the other is more snug. I think it will loosen up with wear though. I did order a half-size down per other reviews and that was the right choice. Another thing I love about these boots is the 1" heel. It's just the right amount while still being comfortable. I live in a city and walk everywhere so they have to be comfortable. I started out the with the Harness boot 12 R which is a higher heel. I found them very uncomfortable and heavy. These boots are not too heavy. The other little glitch is that the dye on the toe portion of the boots is not exactly the same. It is darker on one boot. I don't know if this is just me being ultra-picky or if it is noticeable. I asked a friend and she it's not noticeable and that dye on boots is often like that. Bottom line - I'm keeping them. At this price, I hope they last for many years - like ten at least! I'll keep you posted.

I've wanted a pair of Frye boots for years now and finally convinced my fiance that they were worth the money and they were all I wanted for Christmas. I bought these in the grey, which honestly isn't really that grey, but instead it's more of a tan color. But I have not been disappointed which means a lot considering I've had about 5 years of anticipation from wanting to own a pair of Frye boots. I say, if you're hesitant because of the price, go for it. It's okay to indulge in the finer things of life every once and awhile. And I'm serious, these boots are amazing. They do seem to run about a half size larger, but I ordered my normal size and they fit pretty well with a nice pair of thick socks.

Love this boot! This is how boots used to be made to last a long time! I wear a 9 to 9.5 narrow and had to size a full size down. I tried the 9 and there was too much room, even with a thicker sock. The 8.5 fit great with a trouser sock and I still have room to wiggle my toes. No blisters! Great boot and they go with so many things!

Just my 2 cents. I had to return these boots for a 1/2 size larger. Thank Heavens Zappos is sooo cool about returns as I had switched from Cole Haan sandals that were NOT comfy [nor did they wear well after 8 wears] for a tropical holiday in October to boots for the winter in LA in November. Yes, it does get chilly here. I love Cole Haan...what happened to the air cushion though? Oh well... sniff..I loved those sandals: I spent 2 hours looking for them, too. :-) Anyway, I bumped my order up $200 bucks for these boots but well worth it. These boots will last forever. I love Zappos. Love, love, love. How can you not? They are sooo much fun to talk to, so helpful, and I love their marketing. They even let you know something is back in stock..i love that. I wish I had some one to remind me all the time about other things. :-) Now I must go and look around and get OVER the fact that they don't sell JUST SHOES. Love my boots. Thank you, Zappos. YOU ROCK THE HOUSE DOWN all away around!! Hugs. Karen in LA

These boots are amazing. I have the Burnt Red Soft Vintage color and they are stunning. Frye, as usual, for me, takes a bit to break in, mainly because I wear mostly tennis shoes, and am not used to wearing real footwear, but Frye is always worth the break in period. Once broken in, Frye will only love you back! You can do anything to Frye boots, and it won't hurt them a bit. Puddles, motorcycle riding, scuffing, nothin' can hurt them. Tough and beautiful perfection. You won't be sorry, and these are worth every penny.

Very cool boots! First time I ordered a different pair of Frye boots...not as comfortable and tight in the the toe box. These fit perfect! I usually wear a size 8 to 8 1/2. The 8 fit and I can wiggle my toes, very important! The distressed leather is fun and will continue to distress as these are worn. My heel does slip a little, but Frye says that should go away. A heads up to Zappos customer service! My boots arrived the next day like you said. Just order by the time limit PST.

I obsessed over these boots for months, but had a hard time forking over the money for them. I ordered a few other boots through Zappos and had to return them all (thanks for your awesome return policy Zappos!!!) I finally decided to just bite the bullet and get these and I'm so glad I did. They are a tad big...(I am normally a 9 or 9 & 1/2 and I went with the 9 here), but with a slim cushion insert or thicker socks they are fine. After a short break in period, they became really comfortable and every time I wear them I get "ooos" and "ahhhs." They are definitely worth the money.
