Cuisinart makes a great product. The first day I got the blender I tried to grind whole cloves; the Cuisinart did grind the cloves - not fine - but also when I stopped the grinding my new bowl was all scratched and fogged up. It's very quiet and works great, though.

Brands I'd also recommend: Joseph Sible

I would have preferred a grater and slicer attachment for this. I am sure it is not hard to make those attachments for a little price. This is helpful for all the salads.

I wanted something not quite as big as a food processor but big enough to make a batch of pesto--with ease of use and easy clean-up. I have a Vita-mix for bigger jobs. This little guy fit the bill. And, as always, Zappo service cannot be beat!

I love my larger food processor but thought having a smaller one for smaller jobs was worth looking into. I was thrilled that Zappos, known for their service, was now expanding their products. I liked the reviews I read on this processor and I also like the Cuisinart reputation for quality. I liked Zappos' price, the fast delivery and return policy. I have used my little four cup chopper several time. I love the fact that the blade stays in place when I pour something - it is easy to operate and a breeze to clean. I wanted it specifically for chopping food for my dogs - it did not do a good job on poached chicken but did a great job on other things I tried. I love to cook and anything that makes my job easier is always welcome. I got the black, color is not that big a thing for me as long as it works.

Love this product. This is my first food chopper/ processor and I've used it several times in the past month. It was easy to assemble and does a great and quick job of chopping garlic and ginger. It's the perfect size for me to make pesto. It's easy to disassemble and clean, although you need to be careful with the blade. An added bonus is that it's small enough to fit in a cabinet.

Cuisinart released one Die-Cast color for the Elite 4-Cup but with two different model numbers, confusing yes if you do not know what you are buying. Please be aware that places like Amazon (where I do 85 percent of my shopping) do give you the option to choose different colors, including the Die-Cast model (CH-4DC) for extra money, but somehow they shipped me the other die-cast version (CGC-4PC3BC) - a plastic-base housing spray painted to look exactly like the metal version. Some buyers reported that they did received the actual metal-based model. That was luck-of-the-draw, I guess. But most others like myself did not. Needless to say, I returned the item and ordered from Zappos. A few days later, I received my actual CH-4DC model with a real metal-base. The box also looked different, and understandably it weighs a bit more. I purchased this to replace an aging 2-Speed Cuisinart Mini Prep (21 oz/2½ cups) which I have been using for more than 10 years and still works to this day, but it is definitely showing wear and tear. So time for an upgrade for something a little quieter, bigger, and the 4-cup capacity makes a huge difference, it gives me room to prep thick liquids such as gravy or any tomato-based sauce without overflowing them. Don't get me wrong, it will still flow through the opening of the lid if you top it above ¾ level but just not as often as compared to one with a lesser capacity. This is very normal with food processors of this size. The CH-4DC, has only 1-speed instead of two High/Low speeds compared to my older Mini Prep but features an automatic reversing blade depending if the Chop or Grind button is used, so no more manually flipping out the blades myself! The two buttons are nice and easy to push but the location of it are a bit odd because most of the time this is where I usually hold the unit and placing my thumb over it, and when locking the work bowl in place it would automatically trigger the start. The machine is also much quieter while processing, and it does a fine job with good consistency. Pouring the contents is also very handy with the blades locked in place, again, no need to mess with it except only when it is needed for washing. A simple pull is all it takes to get it removed. Pros: -Work bowl itself locks in nice and smoothy w/o any loud clicks (except for the cover). Also good capacity (4-cup) -Locking blades (perfect for pouring) -Reversing blades for Chopping or Grinding -Buttons has a nice tactile feel and are very easy to use, but could be better located (see Cons) -Solid and Heavy, real die-cast metal base (not the plastic painted one, check yours!) Cons: -Chop/Grind buttons are located where your thumbs usually lay over while grab holding the unit. (as mentioned earlier, this keeps on initiating the unit while I lock the work bowl in place due to holding it) -Like to 'dance' a bit around while grinding thick foods like Pesto -Creates and electrical odor from the base after grinding for about 10-15 seconds. I am hoping this will go away after the reak-in period -- which seems to be the case.

Received this on my doorstep, opened it up, and I received one that had obviously been used! Had bits of some type of food on the inside of the cup and it looked like the box had been opened up several times! Needless to say I promptly returned it and will never order another appliance from Zappos again! Very disappointing! Unable to give an actual review on the item since I immediately put it back in the box.
