One of my best bags ever. Versatile, light, carries a lot (I often wear it as a backpack for my groceries), and has 2 handy zip pockets. Love it!

Purchased this bag for a trip overseas with kids. I used it as a carry on, beach bag and market tote. It was perfect! The inside pocket was large enough to hold cell phone, wallet, keys and passports. The outside pocket great for accessing little things. Books and coloring books slid in easily to back pocket (the one that sits on your back). Main compartment is pretty roomy - for sweaters or a towel - but the bag doesn't look or feel too large. The mesh pockets were great for water bottles, hand sanitizer, handy wipes, etc. Really this is a great bag - light, colorful, easy to carry on shoulder for quick movement, and comfortable on my back. Love it!

This is a very lightweight, well-made bag. It worked well on a recent trip, as a carry on and a beach bag. I wish the handles were longer because when it's full it's a little hard to carry on one shoulder. The backpack straps came in handy. I also wish it were larger but it worked well for carrying essentials to the beach. I liked the roomy main compartment and outer zippered compartment.

We purchased this to serve as a diaper bag for our first newborn. So far, it's great! It's best feature is the fact that it is lightweight. It is highly portable and can be stuffed into it's own pocket, making it great for a travel daypack. Although it is light, it can carry a lot of stuff - I'd say comparable to 2 shoeboxes. There is an external pocket that my wife puts her keys and phone in and an internal pocket that we keep pacifiers in. The large mesh pockets can fit just about any size water bottle or a couple of baby bottles. The backpack straps are comfortable (padded) and can be easily unclipped if you need to take it off your back in a hurry. The balance point on the bag isn't quite right unless you wear it up high (hence 4 stars for comfort) - the top tends to tilt back, bottom tilts into your back. One recommendation I have is that you pick up a set of the storage boxes from IKEA (assorted sizes) to put in the bottom of the bag for structure. We put the two small boxes (5.5" x 5.5" x 5") in the bottom of this bag to give it structure and help it stand up when placed on the ground or table. The quality is outstanding, as to be expected from Patagonia. I highly recommend the bag, especially as an alternative to bags that are sold for the sole purpose of "diaper bag." This bag will be used for many years to come.

Great bag for being on-the-go with my preschooler and toddler. Holds a lot without weighing a ton. Love the two stretchy outside pockets that can hold different sizes of water bottles. Tote straps fit comfortably over my shoulder and the backpack straps are great when I need to have my arms free for picking up squirming kids. Wish I had this long ago.

This type of bag was recommended to me to use as a diaper bag for baby #2 by my sister. She uses the messenger bag style and that look is not for me. I was attracted to this bag because of the tote straps and backpack straps. I have it packed and ready to use. The only suggestion I could make for the bag is that the it would be nice if the tote straps would roll and tuck to put away and not be out while using the bag as a backpack. Overall, I am very pleased with my selection.

Really happy with this purchase. It has immediately become my go to bag. I am shocked how much I can fit in it, way more than other totes, and I think even more than my normal backpacks. Being able to switch between the two is amazing. I was nervous spending so much on a bag, and I have no regrets. I bought it for traveling, but am using it every day.

This product was great for my needs. I was someone like the other reviewers who was looking for a bag to be used as a diaper bag, particularly for travel. Most moms can attest to the fact that the majority of diaper bags are too small and don't suit your needs. This bag is PERFECT! It's very roomy, and you can fit everything from extra clothes to diapers and wipes, toys, snacks, and still have room leftover. I even fit my Ipad in it which is protected by the padding in the bag. Love the side pockets for beverages (we've had lots of spills in other bags) and the backpack straps. Would have preferred more color choices but the basic black is fine and works for my husband if he wants to use it too. Love it!

I purchased this bag to bring as a carry-on for my recent trip to Albuqurque and it did not disappoint. It's so lightweight yet strong that I can put anything I wanted in it. Transforming it into a backpack from a tote was so simple and fun. Would definitely recommend for travelers. Perfect size for all the essentials and more.

I also use this as a diaper bag. Works great for 2 kids if you don't pack the kitchen sink. Love that it is light weight, holds enough, looks good and stays clean and the backpack option. We love it for traveling. In fact- I'm buying a second for an upcoming trip so my husband and I can each have one. I would love to find the Glass Blue color that is on the Patagonia website, but it seems to be sold out everywhere!

Absolutely love this bag! I use it for both my purse and diaper bag. It is so versatile and not heavy at all which is nice when lugging baby gear! As with all Patagonia items, the quality is excellent! You will not be disappointed in this bag!

We use this bag as a diaper bag and it's perfect for our needs. Although it doesn't have all of the inside pockets of a traditional diaper bag, we like the dual handles, the fact that it's lightweight, and the outside cup holders for the two small Klean Kanteens we tote. It may look small but you can pack PLENTY of stuff inside. It's also not girly so my husband is happy to use it too.

I just want to chime in as a dad. This is the best daddy diaper bag! Most guys do not want to carry around a pastel green diaper bag/sling/purse that frankly does not fit anyone's style. This is the bag dads (and moms) dream of. First, it is super light. You have a 20 pound sack of human to carry around. Why should your bag weigh you down even more? But that does not mean that it is not durable. We have put ours through almost two years of abuse without a single tear and only minor signs of wear (but the good kind). Second, it holds a ton. When I read the review that first recommended it as a diaper bag, I did not believe what the mom said she could fit in it. Now I do. We can fit six diapers, wipes, an afternoon of snacks, a changing pad (in the sleeve behind the straps), bottles, lunch packs, a change of clothes, extra shoes, and more in this sucker without a sweat. Third, regarding structure, do yourself a favor and order a pair of 5½"x5½" SKUBB storage boxes from IKEA and put them in the bottom. They give the pack a little bit of structure and allow for some organization in the bottom. This makes the pack even better! If this is the only thing your baby's dad gets, he will be a happy camper, because once baby grows up, he will still have a cool pack to bring along traveling or camping!

My husband and I were going to Nicaragua for 2 weeks and wanted to travel light, yet bring back gifts from this country. On the way down, we packed it with books to give to our daughter once we arrived in Nicaragua. This was the perfect tote to bring. I like that it can be used as a backpack to free your hands up plus its easier to carry heavy things on your back. It fit easily under the seat on the airplane and was very sturdy. The shoulder straps are padded and therefore it was very comfortable to wear even though it was heavy with all of those books in it. . Black is a great choice as it will stay looking cleaner than another color. I usually do not pay this much for a tote but since this is such a super good one, I know that I will have it for YEARS to come and will use it on every trip here on out.

I needed to meet the personal item specs for a budget airline at the last minute. I ordered 3 bags to try the day before I left. They arrived on my departure day, I tried all 3. All were great, but this one held the most stuff for the size specs. It swallows a good volume - I packed for a 3 day casual trip in it, and I can see it becoming a go-to bag. Besides, it packs down very small as an extra for bigger trips. Fit great under the seat. And of course, thanks to Zappos I could make a successful last minute purchase! Straps are not substantial (very lightweight), but it worked for the purpose and hopefully will hold up to load in the long haul. It seems well made.

Awesome bag! We took this with a North Face backpack that's a little heavier with us on a trip to Europe and it just was perfect. I used it as a carryon. The zip pocket inside was good for small things and the outside one was good for important things that I needed quickly. The inner compartment was great for stashing layers of clothes to take on and off in the plane and the airport. Then, when we got there, we dumped it out and used it for picnics, extra stuff, or just as a backpack to take on our day trips. We stuffed it with everything from toys and blankets (for my 3 year old) to water and food (for all of us). It was the perfect size. Really well made and will be great for everything from hikes to picnics and future trips. I am very glad I got this. It's rare to find something so durable that is also so light. Highly recommend it.

Excellent multipurpose bag. I've also used this bag as a diaper bag, carry-on bag, I've used it in Manhattan and hiking in the countryside. Fits a ton of stuff. I'm going to buy a second one just in case Patagonia stops producing them. It's a favorite.

My husband took one listen to this fabric and I knew I'd have to send it back. He does have very sensitive ears, but I do agree that the ripstop is a noisy fabric. It was smaller in person than I expected, but very lightweight, which is a huge plus.

I took this as my "personal item" on a Europe trip last summer along with a big backpack as my only other luggage. I did a lot of hunting for the right bag for my personal item and this one was a fair choice. I knew of course that it did not have a cross-body strap option, which in my opinion, is the big downfall of this bag. On a few occasions when I was just sick of trying to keep it on my shoulder on top of my backpack strap, I used the little backpack strap option of this bag to sling it cross body... although that is not its intended purpose and so it sat awkwardly. It was the perfect size tho. I still like using it, but I'd say it's more of a day bag and less of a traveler. I would give it 5 stars if it had a cross-body strap option, or even some rings to which to attach a cross body strap. Can't have it all!

I loved the idea that it's very packable, but a great caveat was that it was also flip-floppy and didn't provide very much support. I guess it's hard to have it all!

I bought this to use as a diaper bag for days out and zoo, park etc. where both hands are needed to chase after a toddler and a pre-schooler. I do really like it, I just think I'll use it more for wearing while bike riding and packing for longer trips where an extra bag is needed (it's super light-weight and will take up little space). I love that it has two side pockets for water bottles, it just lacks inside pockets and structure for daily use. The red color is great.
