Just got these sweet kicks. Love the color (grey/blue) and fit. As stated multiple times in prior reviews, the shoe runs small. I generally wear a 10 and sometimes can get away with a 9.5. I ordered the 10.5 and am happy I did. They fit great. They are spendy but seem to be made well and look great.

Super grippy, laces stay taut, feet stay warm and dry in both the cold and wet stuff. Well worth the money!

Before I ordered these shoes, I skimmed the reviews and picked-up on the order a half-size up theme. I did so and they were still a half-size too small. I suggest going a full size up. The return process was painless, although I wish Zappos offered exchanges rather than their return/credit/re-purchase procedure. After getting the correct size, I have to say these shoes are exceptional and worth the wait. They're a little pricey, but with all Patagonia products, the comfort, material and finish are first-rate. You couldn't ask for a better outsole. And in case you're wondering what color and is, it appears to be gray with a slight tinge of blue.

Nice shoe, but I ordered a size 11, and I usually wear 10 and a halfs, and they were still tight in the toe area wearing normal socks. If I was wearing thermal socks, they would have been way too small.

I bought these for my husband's birthday. He wears them almost every day at his job, which requires a lot of physical activity doing maintenance for a local company with several large stores. They fit him true to size and says they are very comfortable and durable.

This is a very attractive well fitting quality shoe. I was undecided between this shoe and the Patagonia Drifter A/C in turkish brown so I ordered both to compare and I chose this shoe because of the Gore-Tex and the color. The color is more on the green side then I expected but nevertheless it is attractive. I typically wear Ecco (size 42) but my recent switch to Patagonia (size 9½) may place this brand just ahead of the Ecco for future shoe purchases. Time will tell.

Brands I'd also recommend: Ecco

I am simply amazed with this shoe or rather short hiking boot. I have worn Patagonia hiking socks for years now (an absolutely awesome sock; they last forever) and after seeing that the Patagonia Drifter A/Cs received the 2010 Outside Gear of the Year Award I decided to give them a try. Wow! Absolutely no break-in period for me; super comfortable; discreet; and well made. These shoes are indeed tough as nails and they do appear to be really holding up to the Afghan environment. As a High-Risk Close Protection Officer I am on my feet constantly. In our trade besides one's eyes one also needs to take very good care of their feet. I have never skimped on buying the best quality footwear, socks, and sunglasses available. These shoes are definitely worth every penny I spent on them - I will continue to stick with Patagonia for shoes and of course their wonderful socks. I had to return the first pair I ordered for a size bigger... they ran a little small for me.

I bought these to take on a 17 mile hike to the Grand Canyon after my previous shoes got torn up on the last hike. They didn't fail to impress! Very comfortable, durable, excellent traction and Gtx lining kept the shoe dry and dirt free! The only thing I did was buy Superfeet green insoles for shock absorption. Love these shoes! I'm buying a pair for my co-hiker!

Very sturdy shoe. GoreTex keeps feet dry. These are great for simple day hikes, off-road activities and anything where you think you might encounter wet conditions. Workmanship consistent with what you would expect from Patagonia.

Awesome shoe! Great, stiff shank support compared to Vasque and Garmont. All other brands with a stiff shank aggravated a chronic problem I have in my metatarsals, but this shoe outshined them all and are easily the most comfortable shoe I have worn. I can go all day and night in them without any problem. Need only a couple days to be broken in. You will not regret the purchase!

I looked for a sturdy waterproof hiking shoe that would replace my Vasque Breeze's which they no longer make and am so far very pleased with these shoes. They have one of the stiffest shanks on the market and offer a lot of support. The Vibram soles have provided me with excellent traction in the snow. I did find that they ran about 1/2 size small (I usually wear a 9 and had to order a 9 1/2). Of course Zappos was fantastic to work with and handled the exchange promptly and effortlessly.

Brands I'd also recommend: Vasques, Merrel

This is a great looking shoe that feels very comfortable initially. However, after strenuous walking it kills your feet and legs (i.e., the tibialis anterior muscles mainly, metatarsal tendons). On me, it was about 1/2 size bigger than I wear. Would not buy again. Zappos, of course, has an awesome customer service. The shoes arrived the next day!

Looks like a great shoe but what I wear as a 11.5 is a bit snug. Hope to trade up to a 12.

These were purchased for an upcoming Italy tour, and I was looking for shoes that would be comfortable for a full day day of walking and standing. I've worn these shoes for as long as 8-9 hours -- much of it on my feet -- and my feet were never tired or sore. I haven't yet been in wet conditions, but expect they will perform as advertised. Highly recommended!

Yes, like all the other reviews, these shoes are very comfortable for a hiking shoe right out of the box. Why can't all hiking shoes be like this, instead of having to pay a lot of money for them, and have to turn around and purchase additional insoles to replace the factory insoles to make them comfortable. But, beware! They run small! A full size in my case. But then again, I had to do the same thing when I purchased 3 different pairs of Merrell hiking shoes. The shoes are expensive, particularly for a low cut hiking shoe. However, in this case the extra expense is well worth the comfort. The Gore-Tex may be unnecessary in a low cut shoe, but better safe than sorry. I highly recommend these shoes. Get 'em, you will be pleased.

I really like the Patagonia Drifter A/C Gor-Tex shoes. Lots of room in the toe area. I normally need a wide or extra wide shoe, but these were fine. I did have to get a full size larger. As always Zappos is the greatest.

Comfortable shoe with good traction. I enjoy wearing them in most conditions for hiking. I like the ease of tying them, puting them on and taking them off. The color choices are weak, and the style is a bit bland. The sizing runs small, so I had to buy a larger size, but this is typical of such shoes.

Brands I'd also recommend: Asics, Newbalance,

These are great shoes. They are light, provide secure grip, you can run light trails or use them on a hike and they look great for everyday city wear. And they'll keep water out. I purchased the current version of these shoes as a replacement for an earlier version of these same shoes and I had to order a 1/2 size larger. But thanks to Zappos, the return and exchange for the slightly larger size was painless, efficient and pleasant. Zappos provides great service and support for a quality product.

Great shoe/boot thus far. Only issue as mentioned by others was that I had to move up a half size from my normal. Comfortable out of the box and no break in required.

The shoes arrived in due time (thank you Zappos). The fit seem small at first - especially in the toe box. I decided not to return them and I am glad because over a week or 2 they "broke in" and loosened up to what I would describe as comfortable snug. I have had them a couple months and nothing has worn out. I expect these to last a couple of years because they are well built.

An amazing shoe. Just bought my second pair. The first lasted about 2 years before they smelled too bad from my feet to be worn in public. That was all my fault though. They never failed me, were always comfortable, and went very far with me. From sidewalks to grass to Glacier Park trails. Overtime they may require some waterproofing spray. Get this shoe.

I love this shoe. I just bought my second pair after using my first regularly for 4 years! It's a work of craftsmanship that fulfills its purpose unusually well. Plenty of cushion all around, rubber toe and heel protects your feet and the shoe. The aggressive, wide tread provides stability. Gore-tex kept my feet dry on a recent rainy camping trip. I'm not in the habit of buying the same shoe twice, but after looking around I realized this couldn't be beat! I really like the grey color scheme as well. Sharp product.

I am very happy with my Patagonia Drifter A/C GORE-TEX shoes. Some background. I'm 6' and 300 lbs. About 10 years ago I started getting Plantar fasciitis. The solution turned out to be buying shoes with very stiff soles. My Podiatrist told me to turn shoe upside down, one hand over heel, one hand over ball of foot area (or toe area) and bend gently then increase to moderate. Only the ball should flex, not the arch. It should not twist and flex easily. The advantage of this top is I can return shoes to Zappos without even trying them on or wearing them. If I put in arch support, my feet hurt much worse. Only Dr Scholl's gel heel pads worked when I was in pain. However, those heel pads tended to slide forward (in my motorcycle boots). I bought only Merrell shoes for 5-7 years and never had a problem...then Merrells (for me personally given above requirement) turned into soft garbage. I've returned 6 pairs of Merrells (about 2 years ago) before I gave up on them.. Its taken me 2-3 years to find shoes that provided that stiff sole shank without wearing work boots. I found that Keen Utility did very well. Of other better shoes, I found only the GTX Gore-Tex model was even close to stiff enough. I have one pair of Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 GORE-TEX high tops (which added extra structure). My only issue with Keen Utility is that sometimes I want a lighter hiking shoe. I had a North Face shoe (black with red trim) that did well for few months until the plastic toe kick starting peeling off. I considered going up a half size due to reviews, yet one review clearly stated they would 'stretch' after break in. I bought an 11, I have worn 11s for 5 years. When I got the Patagonia Drifter A/C GORE-TEX in 11, it was tight. I was worried I should have gone up 1/2 size. I wore them to work...8 hours...and they loosened up. The next day, I went hiking with Patagonia Drifter A/C GORE-TEX...and they were very comfortable. Support good for my arches (for me stiff, not padding). The hike was about 4 miles and a lot of climbing up and down on very uneven dirt/gravel/rocks. No arch pain. I did have a little discomfort in my left heel, though I attribute that to my lack of hiking in the past 3 months. One other note, about six months ago I started replace all my insoles with Superfeet Green, which cups my heel better and gives me even more stiffness from heel through arch.

I have been nothing but happy about my purchase of the Drifter A/C Gore-Tex. These are some of the most comfortable shoes I have owned. I bought these to wear every day, not just for hiking and trail use. I work in a lab on concrete all night and these babies are the best I have wore at work by far. As for the fit, I wear a mens 15 and these are spot on. I have a time with shoes fitting my large feet but these fit perfect. This is my first pair of Patagonia's but will not be my last pair. Super fit and finish!
