This is my second bag from the Kenneth Cole Reaction family. I originally purchased the littlest member of the family, "In Bag Taste - Canvas Day Bag" (which is easily confused for the slightly larger and more popular "Home Again") to carry around my DSLR camera. Despite traveling with it for a month straight, that bag held up perfectly. Very sturdy and well made. Needed a bigger bag to take with me on jobs so I turned to the Reaction family again and got the "Don't Mess Out On". Other retailers list this bag with different dimensions being 13" x 9" x 4" inches, or 15" wide. Even though Zappos size is listed differently, it's actually the same bag, and Zappos dimensions are true to the actual size. The images here look dark as if its charcoal or almost black, the bag is not that dark. When these bags are empty, the top flap looks a touch too long and it feels floppy. Hopefully you don't plan on carrying around an empty bag though, and in that case, you'll be just fine! Full, it handles much better and the top flap is properly aligned. These bags do fine in some rain, and even a short down pour. I never managed to soak mine through, though the outside fabric does absorb the water. I decided to wax this bag and couldn't be happier with it! Waxed canvas is water-resistant and more stiff--great modifications for a photography bag. Waxing is an easy DIY using .25 lb of paraffin, .25 lb of beeswax, and a hair dryer. My empty bag now can stand on its own and has that great waxed canvas crinkle to it. Also made a gear insert for it using 1/2" foam and fleece. With the insert, the bag can snuggly hold 1 flash, 1 body, 2 lenses, batteries, chargers and misc. This bag does have a Prop 64 warning on it but I don't plan on licking it or using it as pillow, so I'm not too worried... Pros: Affordable Looks smart Sturdy, great quality Loads of room No exterior logos Cons: Unless it's mostly full it's a little floppy Would be even better if it came waxed! Wish the faux-buckles weren't so plain

I love this bag! The color and the feel/comfort to it. I just ordered another one, since the one I had prior was old and lost it's color..mind you I've had it for about three years! It's spacious and I absolutely love it. I definitely recommend it, for school or for traveling and the price is great.~ :)

I like the style of this bag, and the strap is very comfortable and textured so it doesn't slip off my shoulder. It easily fits my laptop in a sleeve and has lots of handy pockets. My only complaint is that some of the zippered pockets are lined with loose fabric and it's easy to catch the fabric in the zipper.

Overall this bag has some tradeoffs, but if you're more concerned with style, go for it. Just be warned that it might not cover some of the basics you might discover you needed. The material and visual design is terrific. It looks extremely stylish yet understated (until you open it at least, with that weird logo lining-a big mistake: should have been done with a contrasting material. The leather strap and tabs could do with less sheen, but that's being really picky. In person, it looks a little nicer than the pictures -- Money. Functionally, this bag covers 3 of the 4 things I was looking for: a back slash pocket big enough to hold newspapers, a top carry handle, and non-velcro fasteners for the main flap. The closure is magnetic with snap-in disc-shaped buttons. The 4th item on my wish list was a non-mesh side pocket that could hold a water bottle or umbrella. This bag does have a zip-down side pocket on one side and a small catch pocket on the other, but neither seems big enough or stretchy enough for a bottle or umbrella. If you're looking for a laptop/tablet compartment, it does have a lined internal pocket that's probably big enough to store an iPad, and the bag is wide enough for a 15" MacBook Pro, but the bag has no padding whatsoever, anywhere, so you'll definitely need a padded sleeve for any electronics. (Without protection, the metal zipper pulls everywhere will surely scratch things up, too.) Comfort-wise, no issues so far. The strap doesn't have a pad but it's wide enough to distribute weight evenly with moderate loads. The strap's drop is also adequate for me for both shoulder and crossbody carrrying. Taller people (I'm 5'10") may have trouble with crossbody use, though, since for crossbody I had to use nearly all the available play. So far, not bad overall. However, there's one big issue here: this bag has a really hard time holding its shape. I don't know if stiffer canvas or internal padding would have helped, but it needs something to keep it from turning into a ball when its contents don't serve as a backboard. Folders and paper sheets will get bent/crumpled. Small items will get jumbled together at the bottom. So I'm not sure whether this will serve as an adequate replacement for my previous bag (a vertical laptop crossbody messenger from Timbuk2's now-discontinued Single-Speed line). So overall, more style than substance.

Brands I'd also recommend: John Varvatos, Jack Spade, Filson, Coach

The bag seems like it is cut wrong. The outer flap is longer than the bag itself so when you use the magnetic buttons to close the bag, the flap hangs over in a weird way. The overall construction of the bag it very good though and if it wasn't for the flap this would be a 5 star bag.

Bag looks fine in the pictures but once I got it I realized it does not hold its shape when held by the top handle or shoulder strap. Looks old and worn out.
