I am a military veteran. Was looking for something low profile. This looks sexy, very sleek. I've used G-Shocks for years in the service and after my tour. I bought this watch this week from Zappos. I am extremely impressed with Zappos' buying experience and user reviews were critical in ultimately deciding to buy this; but I'm sending it back to Zappos this week and wanted to share why with anyone considering buying this product. I have 20/15 vision and better than 20/20, and this watch is extremely difficult to read in daylight indoor conditions, even if held at exactly the right angle. I tested the watch in pitch black and pushing the back light button, the watch is indeed readable in pitch black conditions; however, one thing they fail to mention here but that the user manual states is that the battery for this is rated for less than one year if you use the back light feature more often than what Casio defines as "normal use". The battery is rated for just 10 months. On a new watch, that's pretty disappointing to me. And since this is not a solar-powered watch, and because a user removing the back of the watch to change the battery instantly voids the warranty of the watch, what this means is that if you buy this watch now today, you should plan on needing to mail it back to Casio and be without it, or drive to a Casio authorized repair facility, to potentially have the battery replaced after just 10 months of use. It is a light watch. It looks very sexy. I'm sure people would comment on it; but to me this watch is unusable. I'm 45 years old and I'm not on a combat mission. I don't have a need to run blackout conditions; but if I did have the need to use it at night, it is disconcerting to me that doing so would drain the battery significantly. Thus it is going back to Zappos today and I am looking at either a Luminox or a solar-powered Casio G-Shock. Frankly I was disappointed that Zappos carries significantly fewer models of Casios than Amazon.com does. There are a ton of new models available that you can see on the Casio site that Zappos does not carry ...yet. So if the Product Buyer for Zappos is reading this, I would encourage you to visit the Casio site and carry all of the current models to give Zappos customers more options. Hope this helps someone considering buying this. I know for the most part, comments have been glowing (no pun intended), but this watch did not glow for me and was very close to unreadable in indoor conditions.

This is my third G-Shock watch. It came wrapped in plastic inside a really nice G-Shock tin. I wear this one everyday. I wear it to the gym, just everywhere everyday. I like it because it's all black. The face is really dark though so sometimes you have to light it up to see the time if you're somewhere dark. It's a great watch though.

This watch is by far the best watch I’ve ever purchased. It’s dark, so it’s perfect for hunting and the illuminator is way bright enough to see, but it doesn't brighten your whole face when you push the button. It’s the perfect everyday watch.

By far this is the best watch I have ever owned. This watch is very fashionable and durable. It is very eye catching. Fashion icons like Pharrell and Kanye West are also rocking this watch. I would recommend this watch to anybody that wants a fashionable, durable cheap watch. NOTE: This watch is not fully white. It is a very light gray, but if you want a white watch you could definitely pull it off.

New to G-shocks, but have rapidly become an avid collector. The military inspired series (or MIRB for Men in Rusty Black) is a series designed with a "stealthed" look in mind, generally black in color with low light hardware (buckle, etc. are also done in dark finishes). The negative display is a very cool feature that looks great with the rose colored digits; however, it can be a bit difficult to read in low light conditions. The backlight, however, displays a nice blue color and looks great, so the slight issues with readability are okay if you like checking out the backlight. Overall a great, tough watch just as you would expect from a G-shock, with a cool design. Highly recommended! Also, great service with Zappos, with quick shipping!

This is a bad ass watch but I liked it wen you could get them from Walmart for less. The military is coll black on black but it's bad that the numbers don't glow in the dark by themselves but it's got the nice G-shock glow. It's not too big and not heavy at all, nice when being a runner or swimming with it on.

I love this watch. I have heard that the battery dies faster when using the backlight. I do not wear this watch everyday as I rotate with other watches so the battery has lasted a while for me (nine months) with no signs of it needing replacing.

A truly great watch, got this particular model because it was all black. These was a gift for the my husband- in the military and a police officer to use as a multi-functional watch that he can use on the job or casual weekend. User friendly and very attractive on the wrist.

Great watch. I bought this watch on my 2nd to last day of marine corps boot camp in Parris Island, SC, and I have had it through hell and back since and I still have it to this day and still running on the factory battery.
