I've been a devoted fan of the WW811 for about a decade. When Zappos did not have my size in stock, I went to a New Balance store, only to be told that the WW811 is being replaced with the WW812. So, I bit the bullet and ordered a pair of WW812s from Zappos. I've been wearing them daily for about a month. First, if the shoe isn't immediately comfortable, it won't get comfortable with wear. It passed this test. The heels on both models have a slight indentation at the outside of the heel; it is deeper on the WW812, which was not entirely comfortable at first, but I got accustomed to it. While you're not supposed to do this, the WW811 is much easier to get onto the foot without a shoe horn; the back of the WW812 keeps folding in while trying to put it on this way. With plantar fasciitis, comfort trumps fashion with me any day; that said, these look a little "clunkier" than the WW811s. I exchange the lining for an orthotic and it works just as well with the WW812 as it did with the WW811. Had I not experienced the WW811, I would have given the WW812 a 5-star review all around; as it is, it's a great shoe, but I miss my 811s!

I was really worried when NB abandoned Model 811, which I'd worn for decades. I tried the 812 in the same size and width(4E), but found that it pinched the toes and instep terribly. Still looking for a solution.

These shoes are some of the most comfortable shoes I've had in a very long time. The only negative thing I have noticed is that the shoelaces are WAY too long. I'm currently looking to find some shorter laces.

I have previously worn this shoe for 15 years and when they wore out recently I immediately went on line to get a replacement pair. New Balance are the best.

I wear orthotics and have used them with New Balance for years. These are the same quality as previous purchases.

I was so in hopes I'd like these shoes. I normally wear at 13EE but because of recent foot surgery, I decided for a wider width with the 13EEEE. Honestly, they do not feel any wider than a Double E. I wore them around a few times so I am stuck with them. Maybe when the swelling goes down on my foot, they'll feel looser. I do wish these came in mesh instead of leather. That might make them a bit more stretchy.

I have been wearing New Balance model 811 for years. The ww812 is even better. I wear them for the neat good looks and because they support my feet if I decide to walk 5 or 6 miles.

These shoes with the rollbar are my "go to" shoes for travel when I know I will be walking forever on often tough surfaces. Years ago a physical therapist I worked with recommended them for a nasty case of plantar fasciitis and they were perfect. I do put my own arch supports in them and therefore I bought a 5.5 rather than a size 5 to accommodate the supports. They are my compromise for " Americans wearing white sneakers" in Europe! Not attractive, but extremely functional. Great support for hours of walking. I am giving the shoes 4 stars because I would much prefer to wear cute little shoes but that will not happen.

These shoes were a disaster for me. The insole is hard, there is no arch support, and there is something really weird going on with how they distribute your weight. When I first tried them on, I felt an uncomfortable pressure on the ball of my foot but for the cost and all the good reviews I was determined that they would work for me. I tried several different insoles. Dr. Scholl's gel insoles made them even worse. I decided to test them on a long walk, and after a mile I was almost crippled. Even my cheap plastic scuffs are more comfortable. I previously had a pair of NB 476 trail runners and they were the best shoes I've ever owned, so I thought all NB shoes would be comfortable but that is not the case. I now have spent an additional $50 on a set of Dr. Scholls custom orthotic insoles (the kind where you stand on the machine and it diagnoses your needs) and the shoes are minimally usable. I don't know what makes these shoes so awful for me but I never knew a pair of shoes could cause such agony.

Perfect for walking. I buy a new pair every spring. I walk 4 collies 3 miles a day and these shoes - in wide - are up to the task. comfortable, nice long laces and arch support.

I always wore 811 and had to purchase 812 shoes now. This 812 runs very small compared to the 811. Very disappointing.

The shoe looks a bit clunky, like a shoe a nurse would wear for a long shift ahead. Initially it felt good but after wearing it the second day the bottom of my feet started to go numb. I'm still trying to figure out why this is happening.

I am a very happy new customer of Zappos. The shoes fit perfectly, they came very quickly and the one pair I ordered that didn't fit as well was easily returnable free. I will order again.

I have this same shoe in white in the "clog" style and both are great. The black is a very nice looking shoe to wear with jeans, with the same great support and comfort, but without the scuff marks or athletic look of the white shoe.

Excellent, comfortable walking shoe. I like New Balance because they have size 11.5, which is almost impossible to find in a wide. The shoe is a little heavy but for a walking shoe, it's fine.

These shoes are supportive but not at all lightweight and clunky, It felt like I had two weights attached to my feet. I am sure some people might like this but for those looking for something lightweight don't buy this pair of shoes

These shoes are comfortable enough, but after only a few days I noticed that a seam by the inside toe is already coming apart, and some white is showing (not good for a black shoe). Maybe it wasn't sewn right. For the price I paid, I would have expected better quality. I found the appearance of these to be a little on the blah side. I feel like a dork when I wear them - maybe it's because they are a wide width. On the positive side, they are very comfortable and I can wear them all day. I have relegated them to be shoes for working around the house, where no one sees me in them.

Shoe shopping is always a difficult task for me. As a child, I had to wear unfashionable tie oxfords while the rest of my classmates wore fashionable loafers. The heels of the shoes would always slide up and down. Sometimes I would walk right out of the shoe unless the shoe was securely tied to my foot. Until about 15 years ago, I was able to buy narrow width AA shoes from better shoe stores. Then I was told nobody wore narrow shoes anymore, so the stores stopped carrying them. Just to make buying shoes interesting, not only is my foot narrow, the right foot also pronates due to an overly flexible or collapsed arch. This creates more fit problems for the right foot. I have a pair of 811's that I wear a lot. While other people said the 812's were worse, I think they might be better. They have a little more toe room. This is another boring pair of white shoes, but they fit and not not bind or pinch anywhere and they are for work where I am on my feet most of the day. Good arch support. Really good heel stability. Plenty of room in the toes - very important as my toes are not overly narrow and certainly do not point! Fits snug enough to move with my foot, but not so big as to be clunky. A little heavy, but they are leather, not mesh and are not heavy for leather shoes - and as lab tech, I won't have to worry about chemicals or other nasties getting through the mesh and onto my foot.

I ordered two pairs of the WW812, one in white and one in black. I've worn the WW811 for several years and really liked the shoe. I inadvertently ordered a half-size larger in the black WW812. The white fit wonderfully - the black was at least a half size too small! I'm very disappointed that there should be such a size discrepancy in different colors. I don't want two pairs of white shoes and don't care for the bone - the only other color available. New Balance really needs to work on their quality control.

This shoe has great support, and the fact that Zappos carries narrow is really a bonus for me. The shoe does tend to pronate however.Customer service is wonderful too.

The shoe was comfotable and a good fit on the second day of wearing. Being made from all man-made materials it is easy to clean. I wear it walking and when I'm on my feet alot. I'm a senior citizen, with large feet, who lives in Birkenstocks for comfort when at home.

Had to return this otherwise great shoe. The New Balance shape hits the outside of my foot and pinches the little toe. I have a small, wide foot with a bunion, so I am very difficult to fit.

I needed a supportive, comfortable shoe for standing for long periods of time. This fits the bill. Toe box area is roomy. Arch support is just enough. I have learned in wearing New Balance I have to go a half size larger with this brand. I will probably order a second pair when needed. Most important is there's no backache or foot pain at the end of the day.
