I've been a devoted fan of the WW811 for about a decade. When Zappos did not have my size in stock, I went to a New Balance store, only to be told that the WW811 is being replaced with the WW812. So, I bit the bullet and ordered a pair of WW812s from Zappos. I've been wearing them daily for about a month. First, if the shoe isn't immediately comfortable, it won't get comfortable with wear. It passed this test. The heels on both models have a slight indentation at the outside of the heel; it is deeper on the WW812, which was not entirely comfortable at first, but I got accustomed to it. While you're not supposed to do this, the WW811 is much easier to get onto the foot without a shoe horn; the back of the WW812 keeps folding in while trying to put it on this way. With plantar fasciitis, comfort trumps fashion with me any day; that said, these look a little "clunkier" than the WW811s. I exchange the lining for an orthotic and it works just as well with the WW812 as it did with the WW811. Had I not experienced the WW811, I would have given the WW812 a 5-star review all around; as it is, it's a great shoe, but I miss my 811s!

I was really worried when NB abandoned Model 811, which I'd worn for decades. I tried the 812 in the same size and width(4E), but found that it pinched the toes and instep terribly. Still looking for a solution.

I bought this shoe in the wide for that is what I have always worn in the New Balance 811. However, that size was to small for this one, I sent it back and Zappos sent me the wider ones which fit just like the wide used to in the 811. The toe box is smaller in these so if you have a wide foot buy the extra wide and they will fit fine. Thank you Zappos for all the help.

I was excited when I read about the fit for this shoe--narrow heel and a wide toe box is a hard combination to find in a woman's shoe. I'd tried NB's full narrow fit earlier (RL-3) and thought the SL-2 would be the answer to the pinch across the ball of my foot. Well, the toe box was wide enough...but they widened the heel fit, too. Argh. I don't get it. Do other people really have heels as wide as the ball of their foot? Not me!

After wearing mine for 4 years, I finally have to replace them only because they are looking worn. These shoes last--I wear them every single day.

The sneakers are very comfortable and very light on the feet you don't even know if you have them on.

My 76 year old mom loves these shoes - she called them beauteous! And Zappos price was better than NB online price plus add the free shipping equals 2 happy customers.

I have a Morton's Neuroma and these shoes are the only ones in my closet that don't make it hurt. They have lots of wiggly toe room, a removable insole so I can add my own orthotics and the perfect flat sole that I need. Now if they could just make a dress shoe that felt this good!

These are really comfortably ugly duckling shoes. I love the extra stability. My feet are really happy. I do not care if they are not beautiful or stylish.

My daughter has worn this brand and style of shoe for years. They are perfect for private school required white shoes. She says they are the most comfortable and supportive shoes she has ever worn. I personally like them because they clean easily with simple green (that gets all of the playground dirt off). They must be fabulous because she has worn them all the way from fourth grade through eleventh grade, where she is today.

I have very wide feet and it is always a pain for me to find shoes that I fit into, let alone don't fall apart on me or roll over in a few months. I'm also a nursing student, soon to be a nurse, and I need a good pair of walking shoes for walking up and down hallways for 8 hours at a time. They feel great on my feet and are super soft inside. Great arch support. My feet feel great after an 8 hour clinical rotation. Love them!

The WW812 is a great walking shoe and it is made in the U.S.A. I have a narrow foot and this New Balance style fits fine. There was no break in period required. Zappos service is excellent, too. I received my shoes in two days.

Fits well and very comfortable right out of the box with no break in period. I would have liked better without the NB logo so it could be a better substitute for dress shoes.

These seemed really soft and cushioned, but after wearing them for a short while at home my bunion started to really hurt. Unfortunately, I'll have to return them. I guess if they were just a little wider across the top it would have been better. Zappos is as always the best.

I bought a pair of these in white and liked them so much that I bought another pair in black a few days later. These are comfortable and the insole is removable if you need to insert an orthotic. The shoe is sturdy and provides excellent support.

For my moderate pronation, this is the only sneaker for me. The knees are shot; and, I really notice the difference with the roll bar keeping my leg aligned. I am an avid walker. I absolutely love these sneakers. I sincerely hope that New Balance doesn't get a better idea as they sometimes do when discontinuing a sneaker that is totally great. FC

I've worn the 811 for years. I was concerned that the back of the heel might be too high on the 812. Once I tried them, they fit just the same, no problem. Just as comfortable and almost no break in time.

This is the shoe I use for Curves workouts. It gives me stability on the platforms and on the machines. Zappos is the only place I can buy my size, because none of the local stores carry half sizes over 10, and I always wear 10.5 AA. Thank you, Zappos!
