The original - great for costumes or just reminiscing. Fits narrow at the toe, and a bit long, so you can take a half size down, if your foot is narrow enough.

I bought these shoes in January of 2011, and have worn them a total of 5 times at two 50s weekend events. On the 5th day, the sole on one shoe cracked. I expected much better quality from Bass. Not happy! The style and quality of the uppers is good...the sole definitely needs improvement!

The length is correct but my heel slipped while walking. I will try another brand for fit. The quality is great though and Bass is an established brand.

I ordered the size I normally wear but shoe ran small and narrow to me but I contacted customer service and they immediately sent me the next size up and they were perfect. Customer support and service was terrific! Absolutely terrific!

These look a little inexpensive (I would go so far as to say cheap). The beige color is attractive. The problem is the shape. The toe box is narrow more of an '80s rather than a '50s cut. And it is shaped like a loaf of bread so the width is in the middle. I need an 8.5W/9W and the length on the 8.5 was fine but the toe area not wide enough and the the heel so big I was walking out of them. There is not quite enough room in them to fit a hard orthotic. There is no arch support in the shoe.

I have had two pairs of these Bass saddle shoes. They fit great and got me lots of compliments. My problem is that they don't last any time at all. On both pairs, they quickly developed a deep crack across the sole, all the way through so that my socks got wet if it rained! I think the sole is too inflexible or something. I would not buy these again except perhaps to wear on stage.

These are a great way to dress up a pair of jeans. They are comfortable right out of the box, but don't offer much for arch support.

These are the shoes I'll wear forever. I got them in brown a year and a half ago, wore them until they completely fell apart, and have now broken in the gray pair. Really comfortable (after about a week), stylish enough to go with nice clothes, but also match normal street clothes too.

I compared the Bass Enfield with the less expensive School Issue Varsity saddle shoe. I give both the top rating in every category, with the Bass having a slight edge in comfort. It's a softer leather. It's more streamlined than what I'd call the more "traditional" saddle shoe for the School Issue Varsity. The School Issue has a larger, more rounded toe box and seems a little stiffer. I do like its white tongue, which I think gives it a more retro look.

I have several pairs of Bass Enfield and when I saw these new colors I knew I had to have another pair. I wear them for work and the colors look great with just about anything. I wouldn't wear them to go for long walks or anything but they are comfy enough to just hang out in or run about for a few hours. I wear a 7.5 and ordered that size -- fits just fine.

I've purchased Bass shoes in the past, but these were a huge disappointment. The material is very poor quality, and the edges cut into the ankles. My toes were crying for mercy, and I had them on only a few minutes. There is no "give" to the shoe. This is the third brand of saddle shoes I've tried. I think I'll give up now.

These shoes are one of the most comfortable shoes I ever tried on. I have wide feet with some bunion problems. Normally I wear size 7M, however I am truly 6,5W, but I ordered these shoes in 7W, and it felt great. They are roomy enough and they look great with jeans and skirt.

Greetings, I really hate to dampen this shoe with a bad remark, but the sole is purple. I see it now, but the purple is brighter than shown. I would have loved this shoe if the sole had been darker or of a brown shade. They feel great and give this baby boomer a nostalgic feel, but not with purple,sorry... dee

These shoes are so "Retro." I got them for a '50s show, but will wear them with jeans when Fall and Winter come back. They are really pretty, bring back tons of memories.

It is difficult to find affordable shoes in my size. I have narrow feet, very narrow heels. These at 7┬ŻN are pretty good, although a little loose in the heel, which I think I can fix with some additional padding. So many shoes today do not come in narrow widths at all!

Brands I'd also recommend: Any that are available in Narrow width.

I sell these shoes in a Bass company store, and here are a few "facts." These shoes are designed for small boned women with fairly narrow feet. I've noticed a number of happy reviews here are from much older women. So, if you have wide feet, and you want shoes for lots of walking, not just at the mall, these aren't a great choice. They are fashion shoes, they don't have a lot of support. GH Bass was recently sold by Phillips Van Heusen to another conglomerate, AM Retail. Hoping for better quality and fit, by next Sept, a whole new company. And no, the base of operations is not PR, it's NJ. AM Retail is based in Minnesota. Once again, if you like to walk--this is not your shoe. If you like to look cute getting in and out of the car, or sitting at a desk, and you have small feet, this will work for you.

I have been collecting Bass Enfield shoes for years and have them in many colors. They are very consistently sized and comfortable. This particular color is unique and can therefore be a conversation starter.

I didn't realize that the cream-colored part of the shoes is suede - it wasn't really evident from the photo and definitely isn't mentioned in the description. I'm returning them for a different (similar) color that is non-suede leather. Nice quality shoe, regardless! Also, I'll re-order in a 1/2 size larger than what I normally wear.

I got these shoes as a Christmas Present from my husband and I love them. I have a hard time finding shoes that don't make my feet hurt and these feel great! I think I am going to order another pair in a different color.

Classic saddle shoe worn by teenager with Catholic school uniform. She was the first student to start wearing them and a trend was started. Way cuter than a pair of tennis shoes!

The perfect shoes to help me break a habit of wearing sneakers every weekend. Comfortable enough to walk in all day. A bit roomier than other regular-width oxfords that I tried. Received multiple compliments about how cute these shoes are.

I've been meaning to write a review for the Bass Enfield for a while, and now that I just ordered my third pair I thought I'd better follow through at last! I LOVE these shoes! I have two pairs of the shell/black and one pair with the suede and navy. Firstly, they're a real shoe -- none of this zero-support/zero-material ballet flat nonsense. Secondly, they are an absolute classic. I regularly have people stop me in grocery stores, elevators, bookshops, and ask where I got my saddle shoes. The answer is always: they're made by Bass and I got them from zappos! Shoe specs: the leather is stiff when you first get them; you'll definitely need to loosen up the laces each time you want to get into them. They do break in really nicely, especially with regular use (they are my everyday shoe). A note on width: I've always thought I had a regular width foot and find the M-width very comfortable, but I tried the narrows for the navy/suede and discovered that the shoe really fits like a glove! ...Is that a mixed metaphor? Anyway, if you think you might have borderline slender feet, I'd suggest trying the narrow width and it feels like the shoe was tailored to my foot. The summary: I would recommend this shoe to anyone and everyone, both men and women. They are comfortable and have classic, simple style.

This brand usually runs one half size larger so I ordered it that way and it was fine. Width in wide is perfect. They are so comfortable, the sole is bendable so not like the old ones that needed to be broken in. I think they are great fun!

These go great with dress slacks or jeans. They are not the most comfortable oxford style shoes that I own, but I get tons of compliments on them. I would not try to walk all over town in them, but for an average workday they are just fine. Until I got them broken in they rubbed a little on the inside of my ankle, but that stopped after a day or two. The suede looks great.
