Excellent Boot for rain, snow & style. This is my second pair of Mt. Washington Chelsea boots and I hope that Timberland does not discontinue them. The update is great, as the heel is all rubber now instead of glued strips of leather that tended to fall off. The boots are a bit heavy at 21 oz and a bit tight at the outset due to the raised footbed, but that soon gives way to long term comfort. They look great with chinos or jeans, and can go to work on the farm without fail. They're very comfortable and waterproof -- I walked everywhere for three weeks in them and never had a sore day. Well worth the investment.

The shoe is very comfortable and looks good, but mine wore out very quickly. After about 30 days some of the stitching was coming undone, and they lost all of their "weatherproof" qualities. If you're looking for a shoe that'll last, I'd say to keep looking unless you like having wet socks every time you step in a puddle.

Initially it was uncomfortable to put the boots on but once I was able to break them in (after just a few hours), I started to like them. They are a little bit heavy but very comfortable. Now my feet do not hurt as much as they did with my old boots. I will recommend them to a friend.

These are a good fit for me. I have a difficult time finding comfortable shoes due to wide feet, bunions, and surgical scars from a broken ankle. These were a good fit out of the box, supportive without being too tight and comfortable without being too loose. Zappos customer service is second to none and I look forward to doing more business with them in the future.

Fit well, look well, wears well. I like that they are waterproof - good traction for the snow and mud, and the pulls on the front and the back are very durable. The fit is very snug.

Got these for the wet, wet conditions of the Washington Coast. They are a perfect fit. Stylish but still kinda rugged, and totally waterproof. The color on the front got damaged somewhat easily though, but that is to be expected, I guess. I don't know what smell people were complaining about; I didn't notice anything in particular. Overall, I recommend these puppies. Will probably be getting a new pair once these are destroyed. Thanks Timbo!

These boots are stylish. They do fit a half size smaller, but I put in some insoles and they fit perfect. They look really nice with a pair of jeans or khakis.

Out of stock early 2010. Zappos notified me when it returned to stock (by e-mail) several months later. I'm glad I waited. Someone here complained they're boot fell apart almost immediately along the center seam on the bottom. There is no center seam running down the bottom on this new boot. I ordered an 11-wide, the length felt true and the extra wideness was just as I needed; a regular width would have been too narrow for my feet. I slipped the boot on and it was incredibly comfortable! No extra shoe insert needed for extra foot cushioning; there are slightly raised 'cushiony-pads' inside the boot. I did not have to break them in, right out of the box they're wearable to work - and I stand for 8 hours a day! Opening is easy to get foot into as the boot slips on. I bought the burnished black and love this boot!

I do love these boots! I love the way these boots look and feel! They definitely run large by 1/2 size (order 1/2 size smaller than your normal size). I wore these boots every day on a week long trip to Paris. I walked miles in the rain and snow and they still look as good or better than when I got them. I highly recommend them!

These boots are fabulous! I bought them for my husband in the lighter (tan) shade and he loves them. He wears a size 13 wide and is big on comfort. He says these boots are actually comfy and they look just as they do in the picture! Great purchase!

I've had this boot for a few weeks now. They are comfortable, and my feet stay dry in the wet, muddy conditions of the Pacific Northwest. At first, I felt a crease on my ankle where the front loop is attached. It took a couple days to break in. The traction could be a little better, but they are still great boots.

Nice boot, but try 1/2 to a full size smaller. And the wide is really wide and I have paddles for feet. Typically a 4E in other shoes. I've never put on shoes that made my flippers feel narrow. If you have wide feet, this boot is for you.

Great update to the Torrance - I needed to replace my three year-old Timberland Torrance Chelsea boots, and was distraught when I saw they were being discontinued. Ordered the Mt. Washington because it was supposed to be the "update." Differences from the Chelsea: the arch support is a lot more prominent, the opening to insert your foot is larger (not as tight on the ankle), and the front loop to aid with putting on the boot is larger and fixed on the front. Except for the front loop change, the Mt. Washington is a welcome comfortable and solid update. Matches with casual, business, and formal attire.

Great shoe. I've been wearing the previous model since 2002 (10 years) and I bought the Mt. Washington's in brown and black. They seem a bit narrow, but that may be because they are not broken in yet. I used a stretching spray on them and that has helped to loosen them up. The arch support is very good, but seems to be a bit more to the rear of the shoe than I would like. All in all, I am happy with the purchase and foresee wearing these boots for some time into the future.

Montana C

In August of 2011 I wrote a review under my handle "Montana C," regarding my first pair of Timberland's Chelsea Boot. A month or so ago, I reordered the same boots as my first pair had worn out. When they arrived they looked the same, but they had tweaked them some. The Timberland logo on the outside heel was gone. Most noticeable though was the absence of the inside raised cushion pads that were in my first pair. Now I needed to install some extra cushioning on my own. Not that big a deal. However what occurred within the first week I wore these was very strange. I was stepping up onto a curb and hit a piece of pipe with the toe of my new boot. It made an indentation which looked like a big crease in the toe. I had to take off the boot and push out the crease from the inside with my fingers. And it never completely went away. I have never had any shoes do that before, I find it very strange and wonder what is in the treated leather to make the rounded front of a boot hold a dent? Just letting the rest of you know about this. I lowered my ratings one point because of these points I made.

I finally got a pair of these boots and I am very pleased. They are very comfortable and warm. The only negatives with these is that they make a squishy noise when you walk in them, and the back of both boots is already starting to rip off. I'm not sure how long these will last.

Good slip-on boots. They run a bit slim, so if you have wide feet stay away or be prepared to stretch them/wear them in.

These shoes are very comfortable right out of the box, a rare quality in most boots. They require no "break-in" time. Even though they are comfortable, the soles feel relatively flat and do not offer much support. So, don't plan on standing up on hard or cement surfaces all day in these shoes. The leather is very rich and smooth in texture/color, perfect for wearing with slacks or jeans. I'm a man with big feet, so I'm always looking for a shoe that doesn't make my feet look too long. These shoes do a good job at minimizing how big your feet look.

Brands I'd also recommend: Rockport, Johnston & Murphy, Durango

This is my first pair of Timberland boots, though I\'m a long time Timberland shoe aficionado. Like most other Timberland reviews their shoes do run a bit big, I\'d say a 1/2 size bigger, I\'m a size 9 and the 8 1/2 size was perfect. On the width of the shoes, I don\'t have the widest foot around, neither the narrowest, but I had to end up returning the regular for the EE/Wide size. The regular was way to snug for my comfort. The only thing that bugs me a bit is how the top of the boot around the ankles feels a little tight, but other than that, it\'s a great boot that I can walk around all day in, the sole in these shoes is seriously one of the most comfortable I\'ve worn, in any shoe. Overall a good buy, just remember to buy a 1/2 size smaller than you usually wear. And of course, I had a great experience buying from Zappos, they got me the shoes in no time and they were super helpful when I had to return the first pair of boots that didn\'t quite fit. Keep up the good work Zappos.

Great that it comes in two widths. A little snug around the top of the ankle but foot bed is very comfortable right out of the box. A stiffer boot than my blundstones.

These are comfortable boots. They run a half size smaller than normal sizes though. After only one day I noticed that the wrapping on the heel was coming off already. I'm shipping them back now. I will update when the new ones arrive.
