Great quality. I had read in other reviews that this boot needed a break in period. But this wasn't the case for me, I was wearing them comfortably right from the start. These look like they will let for a very long time.

These boots are junk. I am pretty hard on boots, so thought I'd kick down the money for a good expensive one that would last a while. They fell apart quicker than most of the boots I've bought at 1/3 the price. Style wise, they look ok, but as a work boot it's a waste of money.

These were a Christmas gift for our son who has purchased Red Wing boots in the past. He loves the long lasting construction of this boot and the style just added to his desire to own this boot.

I purchased these boots via Zappos nearly a month ago, and overall, am quite pleased both with the Zappos service and the quality of these US made boots. Firstly, they run true to size and are well made: sturdy without being too heavy. Secondly, am pleased with the finish (as ordered black) so can polish and keep looking good. One can tell these are workboots, in that breaking them in requires time and a bit a early discomfort. The boot heel has just now correctly formed around my heel, and the support provided through the arch is very good (crucial for all day comfort). Additionally, to provide the boots a more finished look, I died the brown outer soles black (something have never done before): this looks fantastic, as it dresses up the boots for occasional wintertime office wear without taking away from their functionality.

Okay, a co-worker of mine recommended Red Wing to me because his dad- who worked for the dept years before never bought more than a few pairs of red wings his entire career. Why? Because they are a real working mans shoe. On your feet in the field or in the office these Chelsea boots fit me well, like an good pair of gloves. They fit my style as well. Simple, black, functional, cool. Unlike the photo however, my pair did not arrive with the overstated red wing emblem on the heel. All the better I suppose. On a Zappos note- this is my 3rd order from Zappos and I've always received my shipments on time. Even when I had to return 3 pair on my first order- it was no questions asked and overnight shipping to ensure my satisfaction. The selection Zappos offers is outstanding and frankly I have more comfort and trust ordering online with Zappos than I do visiting my local sports or outdoors mega-store. Go Zappos!

I wear 8.5e in Allen Edmonds. I took a 9ee in these RW Chelseas when wearing winter wool socks. Good for nice looking winter boots when worn with insole to give air-gap insulation. Just wish leather sole were dyed and stitching weren't contrast.

These are basically the "slip-on" chelsea version of the classic Red Wing Beckmans (also called the Gentlemans Traveler). I am a big fan of the Beckman but have come to realize that if a boot is easier to get on and off I will wear it far more often. While these Chelsea Ranchers are not exactly an easy slide on and slide off (it takes some force and wiggling) they are much easier to handle than a full lace up boot. There is something classic about a worn in lace up boot but these Ranchers really are a site to behold. At first I would have classified them as "slightly more dressy than lace up boots," and I think that still holds true, but as they wear in a bit and I let them get scuffed up, they are really taking on a great personality. I usually wear a 9 in shoes and tend to have a tall (which translates as wide) foot. I ordered the 8½ in these. The first day or two they were what I would describe as "too tight" but I knew they would loosen up. By the fourth day after wearing them through a small amount of pain (tightness) and walking as much as I could, I could tell that they were starting to loosen and form to my foot. Now they are some of the most comfortable boots I own. The leather and craftsmanship is top notch. If you are looking at these you might also be looking at Alden Indy's, Wolverine 1000 Mile, and Frye Boots. You really cannot go wrong with any of these, but for my money, nothing else offered the combination of tread pattern (I did not want flat leather bottoms), quality and style, as these Chelsea Ranchers. I could not be happier with them.

Great boot. No red wing embroidery as pictures. Very solidly built, should last a lifetime. I am a woman wearing size 9 so i got size 7 for men as I always do. Fits great, roomy but not too big. The only issue is getting in and out. The elastic is very stiff and the opening is narrow. It ensures a good grip and foot is stable but very hard to get it on and off. On is easier with the fabric loop but to get them off you need a boot jack or a very strong friend! Probably will be easier with time. Overall very happy. I always get blisters and whatnot but already wore them twice for long walks, not a blister in sight!

Although these boots are a bit expensive,it is money well spent. The craftsmanship is impeccable and they will no doubt hold up for many years. After the initial break in period, they became very comfortable. I would gladly buy another pair when these finally wear out.

These boots are garbage. The welt construction was junk. What ever glue they used never really took and the piece of leather or material between the leather upper and the rubber tread cracked and fell apart. And this was all after a month of low impact use. (I just used them to walk around construction sites, I don't even do actual labor.) They sure do look great though! (If anyone's crazy enough to get these things after this they run super narrow, but like Paul recommended, I'd stay far away from these!)

These are very well built shoe and I am hoping they will hold up because they cost more than I would usually pay for shoes of this type. They took very little break in time and the fit was true to size.

I ordered these boots initially of the style and previous reviews and I 100% agree they are great boots. I received them on the received date. Those are worth the cost and wait because I have not been able to find them in local stores. The construction of the boot how I appears when you where jeans is the best.

These boots are made very well. When buying Red Wings it is important to remember these boots will last 8-10 years even with heavy wear. So you must choose with the long term in mind. That being said because the construction is made for durability they may take some time to break in. Be patient it will be worth it as these boots will feel like a glove after the break in period.

These boots are great! I bought them for my wedding, which was three weeks away when I purchased them. Based on a few other reviews found here I was concerned about the break in period and not having enough time to get them worn in before the wedding but after 3 or 4 days of daily wear they started feeling and looking great. Red Wing quality. Fit true to size. This is my third pair of RW's and my favorite. Dress them up or down!

These are great boots! They are my daily boots. They fit true to size for me. My only complaint would be the tread should be a little deeper so I would not have to have them re-soled every couple of years. Spend the extra money. They are worth every penny!

Best boots I have ever owned. They are extremely well made and after a week or so of wear, the leather conforms to your foot. Easy on and off. I measure a true 9.5, and the 9.5 in this boot was spot on. I've found the best fit for pull on boots have room in the toe box, slight heel slippage and are a tad snug around the top of the foot. Over time all of these things conform to your stride to create the perfect fit. Worth every penny.

Awesome boots, wide cut but not wide enough for my EEE. Left fitted just right and could have stretched a bit to be comfortable. But my right foot is wider and the boot was slightly narrower (hand made) causing it to be painfully narrow. With regret going to exchange for an other model Redwing heritage boots.

Second pair in 9 years. Wore them almost every day. I'm an office worker but avid DIY'er so while they may not hold up as long in full time construction work, I did give them a run over the years. Probably would have lasted longer if I hadn't treated them so badly the past couple years. This is case by case, but consider going down a half size from regular shoes. If they're a bit tight, that goes away after about a week or two. Then they're wonderful.

These are my casual boots. I wear them to the movies, restaurants, school, hanging out with friends, any activity besides work. They are dressy but not formal. Casual but stylish. It's made by Red Wing in the USA, so you can't go wrong with workmanship and quality. The color of the Briar Oil Slick is absolutely gorgeous in its dark Bordeaux hues and the contrasting red stitching near the ankle opening give the boot that unique look. A bit stiff for the first few days. But not uncomfortable. A couple of wears and few miles in these and they start feel to fantastic. There really isn't any arch support but you might be able to fit in a thin insole after the boots are broken in. Unless you have thick feet like I do. It's not uncomfortable without an insole but it will definitely require some getting used to. Also I would really like to thank the Zappos customer service team for their incredible service. They very helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating, and immensely patient. I originally ordered a 7.5 but it was simply too big (normally I'm a size 8 in sneakers and 7.5 in other leather boots), 7.5 was surprisingly big. I had to go down to a size 7. The second pair came and unfortunately there was a slight "discoloration" that really bothered me, so I had to exchange them again. Basically I received three pairs of boots and sent two back within the span of 5 days. I can see myself wearing these every weekend.

Upon opening the box you could see the quality built into these boots. I had been reluctant to spend what these boots cost but after receiving them that reluctance is gone. I originally ordered size 10, a half size larger that my normal 9.5, based on other reviewers recommendations. They were too large and Zappos gladly exchanged them and of course, paid the shipping both ways! The 9.5's were snug but I have been wearing these boots for longer and longer periods at a time and can honestly say that after 3 weeks they have broken in and feel like part of my foot. The elastic goring on the sides is quite stout and I still must utilize the pull loop on the rear to get my door in but once there...wow. The stitching on the sole and the stacked leather look great and will surely last quite some time as the stitching is thick and tight. Excellent soles that work well on pavement, concrete and in the woods. I've had many compliments on these boots and when people ask who makes them, Red Wing usually catches them by surprise. I would recommend these boots to anyone looking for a rugged, yet stylish boot that works well in the field, on the job or just kicking about casually.

I love these. Bought then in brown, decided I wanted black, too. The black leather is more polished, for lack of a better term. These can shine up, whereas the brown is a bit rougher. Redwings tend to need some break-in, and these are no exception. However, they start out stiff, but not uncomfortable. A bit less compliant than the brown. I mentioned they are a bit narrow, but not overly so. My foot is a bit narrow in the heel, and perhaps a little wide at the ball of the foot-these, like mine in brown, will break in to fit perfectly. I love the style-the elastic is quite firm, but works well to keep the boot in place. No regrets!

I purchased these boots already owning a pair of Black Red Wing Heritage Beckmans. That said, I knew the fit was to my liking, and expected them to be super comfortable. The left boot was a little tight for the first few days, but that is to be expected with a pair of leather boots like this. Having them for two months now, they are broken in and very comfortable. Style-wise, I find myself preferring them to the Beckmans. They are wonderful for going through airports and international security. I am trying to think of something critical to say regarding them, but am at a loss. I highly recommend them.
