bought this skirt after reading reviews during my search for the perfect skirt to take to Italy this summer. I was looking for a simple piece that will keep me cool and dry while maintaining some style. Wow! This skirt is incredible. I wore it today to test it out and it was incredible. I am 5'4 and 120 lbs and this skirt hits at a very flattering spot barely below the knee and sits just below my waist. The level of comfort is unsurpassed. Not one negative. The cherry on top is that I was caught in a downpour at the end of the day that completely soaked my hair, skirt and t-shirt. By the time I made it home 20 minutes later, my hair and t-shirt were still dripping wet, but somehow the skirt was nearly dry. I found my travel skirt!

When I first got this skirt I thought I would like it, but I just seem to pass over it in my closet of clothes way too often, which makes putting out the money for it disappointing. I ordered both a size 2 and a size 4. I am 123, 5'4". I feel I need one in between the sizes. But I kept the size 4. It tends to 'ride up' and not stay sitting below the waist as it is designed to do. When it does this I have this big gap at the waistline, as my waist is smaller. So when I am wearing it I keep tugging at it to bring it down on to the hips. I like to wear things tucked in, and I suppose if I wore my tops out you wouldn't see the 'gap' when it rides up. Also the fabric is just not soft enough for my liking. I wanted the flared bottom to be more fluid and lay down better. That bottom part of the skirt tends to 'stick out'. I have washed it and washed it again using fabric softener, but that didn't change anything. I must warn you also, do not use too hot of an iron if you press out the packing wrinkles. I thought I had a low enough setting on my iron and I touched the lower back edge of the skirt and it 'melted' the fabric. Not that it made a hole, but you can see an impression of the sole/plate of my iron. It now looks a little shiny where that happened. So cool it on the iron setting.

This skirt is true to size for me. I usually wear an 8 and this 8 is just right. The unique features and the fabric all come together for one cool skirt! Love it!

Great skirt and comfort and style all in one. However it runs large and had to return for a smaller size.

This is a fabulous skirt! Lightweight, virtually wrinkle-free and just enough stretch. I am a generous size 12 and the 12 fit beautifully. The pockets are well-placed and did the job. Just got back from a week-long trek through Cornwall and wore these (bought 2) every day I could get away with it!

This is a gorgeous skirt but it runs very large. I am 5'3", 110 lbs, pear shaped (I have got hips and a bottom!) and the 2 just fell off of me when I put it on. So bummed that they do not go smaller as this skirt is awesome. It has a feminine silhouette, functional pockets, lightweight but high quality fabric. To give you an idea on sizing compared to similar brands, I wear a 4 in most Mountain Hardwear skirts (I need the extra room in the hips), a 2 in Lole skirts, XS in North Face and Patagonia skirts, 0 or 2 in Prana bottoms.

This is a very cute skirt. I normally wear a 10, but the 8 fit nicely. Unfortunately, the zipper in the back poofs out and looks strange so I am returning it. Maybe it is just this one?

This is made from stretchy fabric, sits below the waist. It runs a little big. I have been wearing size 12 and needed a size 10 in this. I ended up keeping the Kuhl skirt and sending this one back. It was a little long on me (just past the knees) - I am 5'3". It is a little too dressy for what I needed it for. It is a nice skirt for someone a couple inches taller!

This skirt is exactly as advertised. Great addition to my Keep It Simple wardrobe philosophy of late. Not sure on wash-ability as I haven't had to wash it yet, but it looks like it will be great. Size I usually buy fits perfectly and comfortably (since I didn't put this factor in, you may safely assume it's not a size zero). Length is as shown.

This is my favorite skirt. I'm going to buy one in another color. It's comfortable and has a cute but simple style. There are pockets that zip or snap, perfect for heading to a street festival or outdoor concert. Good for travel. I wash & dry it, then lay it flat a few minutes.

Love this skirt! Comfy, flattering, fits perfectly; I'm normally size 8 but after reading other reviews decided to go with 10. I wear it to work a lot - I'm in healthcare industry.

Just received this skirt in black and one in khaki. I ordered then on the basis of the positive reviews. This is a stylish skirt with a great fit and a little attitude! Comes to just below my knee. These will be a wonderful addition to my travel wardrobe. I usually have a problem with the back waist bagging in skirts and pants but not in these. Delighted!

I can't stop wearing this skirt. Bought if for a European month long trip. Perfect. In 2 different places ladies who bought the same skirt from Zappos noticed it and we sung its praises from across the pond. I've worn it several times a week since returning. It's a winner. I ordered my normal size 12 and it fit perfectly.

One of my favorite skirts! I dress it up for work or dress it down for play. Tall boots or flip flops. Very nice material that is virtually wrinkle free and very comfortable. Cute, flattering style will suit any body type! It runs big. I am 5'-6", 135 lbs and ordered a size 4. Fits comfortably, just at my knees, and plenty of room for movement. I'm curious about whether a size 2 might work out? I'm very happy with the 4 though.

Very pleased with this skirt. Size 2 is true to size. I was worried that the pockets would cause the skirt to bulge, not so. It's a very slimming style. Looks exactly like the picture!

I do not know why it has taken me so long to tell you how much I love my Royal Robbins Discovery Skirts. I have several of them and I love every one! I travel a lot in China and Central Asia; and recently moved from the US to the Philippines. I wear one of these skirts nearly every day. When I travel they are comfortable and I can wash them by hand in a sink, and let them hang to dry over night. They do not need ironing which is great for stuffing into a suitcase or sleeping on a plane. The weather in the Philippines is very hot and humid, I do not know what I would do without these skirts in my wardrobe. I am hoping they come out with some new colors, especially navy blue!

I love this skirt. It's a nice, modest length. Falls below the knee on me and I am 5'5" and about 126 lbs, so I wear a size 6 in this skirt. It does run a little big. I tried the 8, but it hung off of me. I look forward to wearing this skirt a lot and plan to buy more in other colors in the future.

When I took this skirt out of the package, I thought "this is going back." But I'm very glad I gave it a second thought. As other reviewers have noted, the fabric is on the stiff side -- I would call it "crisp," and the waist was way too big. I wasn't sure I could find tops to go with the charcoal color as it looked more gray-green than charcoal (black wasn't available in my size). However, I ended up deciding to take two darts in the waist and found that black and cream colored cotton tops went very well with it. I took it on a recent trip to Italy and ended up loving it. The pockets were great for carrying things; it looked good with both hiking shoes and walking sandals, and it was much cooler than slacks or capris. It was one of my favorite things to wear. Wrinkles seemed to fall out, and it was very comfortable. I am 5'4" -- it hit me right at the knees or slightly above. I ordered a size 10, my usual size (I have a 30" waist and 40" hips). Once I took two darts in the waist, it fit perfectly, sitting below my waist a few inches. I think a size 8 would have been too tight in the hips. This skirt will be a staple of future trips to Europe when the weather is warm. I'm sure I will wear it at home as well during the summer months. I washed it when I got home and hung it to dry. It looked better with some touch-up ironing although for longer trips, I would probably wash it out and hang to dry without ironing.

I absolutely love this skirt so much that I bought it in two colors. I am 44, 5'3", 138 pounds and got an 8 which has a lot of room and is still very flattering. I wear it everywhere, work, hanging out, and even church!

This skirt is everything the reviewers said it was. I am a school librarian of "mature" age even and not a perfect figure. I like skirts not too short or skimpy and need to be able to move up & down easily and still look professional. The black skirt especially although casual can have a dressier feel with the right top. Yes, it does run maybe a bit larger, I needed to exchange for a smaller size. I ended up buying this in four colors. It never feels as if I am wearing the same skirt twice. Each color seems to have its own look. Perfect for my fall N.E. simple, but professional school look with flats. Love the detail and pockets. Excellent quality and does not wrinkle.

Brands I'd also recommend: I don't know, my first Zappos purchase.

This skirt is fantastic! I bought one in black and one in gray. I wear them to work at an elementary school, it is as comfortable as wearing shorts. Fit is perfect, I am 4'11 and it comes below my knee. I get a compliment every time i wear it. Material is light weight (we live in FL) but good quality. I put it in washer and dryer with no shrinkage. You really can't go wrong with this skirt. Enjoy!
