These are comfortable right from the start. They are lightweight. There is lots of cushioning and arch support. The only problem is the sizing. I am a 6½ and sent the first pair back, and have found that the 7½ is perfect.

Brands I'd also recommend: None comparable. I wear Romika and Birkenstock.

I have moderately high arches, broken toes, and too long arches for the size of my feet and am 25 pounds overweight. I walk on concrete 12 hours a day and good comfortable shoes are very important. These shoes are very comfortable and easily broken in but tend to get too warm in the summer time.

I love these shoes for my desert hikes. Based on other reviews, I sized up one full size and they fit perfectly over thick socks. They did not need a break in period but were very comfortable on the first hike.

I love these boots. They are light weight, breathable, attractive and provided a lot of stability for hiking. I followed the advice of the other reviewers and ordered a half size larger than I typically wear and they fit perfectly. Great boots.

This is a great hiking shoe. Very supportive and comfortable. I was able to walk around in them all day without breaking them in first. But I definitely had to order a half size up -- I usually wear a 6.5, but a 7 fit perfectly. The insoles that come with the shoe are okay, but I replaced them with some Dr. Scholl's gel inserts and that made a big difference for me.

These run small. I read another review that stated this and I am glad I listened. I normally wear a 9 and at the most 9 1/2 but they are usually too big. I ordered these in a 10 and they just barely fit. I was afraid with my liners and hiking socks they wouldn't but they are okay. I really need a 10 1/2 which they don't have and 11 would be too big. I did wear them on a 5 mile hike and they are really great and comfortable if they were just a 1/2 inch longer. Other than that I really like them.

These shoes are amazing. I am between a 6 and 6½ and went with the 6½ so I could wear them comfortably with thicker socks. I also have wide feet and the width was more comfortable for me in the larger size. I bought them the week before I was going to hike Half Dome, so I did not get a chance to break them in, but I did not need to! I did use moleskin on areas of my feet that I know blister easily. But regardless, most of my friends (who also used moleskin) were in pain with blisters and I came away from the 14 mile hike with none. These shoes also have great traction and did not slip at all on the rock or along the trail. The shoes were also nice and light; I never felt weighed down by them.

Very comfortable out of the box; make sure you order next size. I ordered only 1/2 size originally and found it too short for hiking. Lightweight and great.

These are the most comfortable hiking boots I have ever purchased. They have excellent soles with good tread, easy to lace up, and needed no break-in time. I have a damaged right foot that is irregularly shaped and bought a 1/2 size larger than my normal size. I can lace them up differently to accommodate my different feet. I threw away two other very expensive pairs of boots that I had spent hours buying. I do use Aetrex inserts for flat feet for more arch support but the shoe inserts that came with these boots also seemed comfortable. Thank you Zappos! The reviews I read convinced me that these were the right boots for me.

I love this boot. I have 2 pair for work and one pair for hiking. I work outside in very hot, humid weather and need something that will allow my feet to breath otherwise I end up with itchy feet. It is very important that I have cool shoes. I wear a perfect size 9.5 and for some reason this last pair I bought seemed to be a little short on the toes but still fit so I didn't return. I just noticed that when I first put them on my toes hit the end.

I have really not been able to try the boots on a hike yet, but I have worn them around the house to test them for comfort. So far they feel extremely comfortable. I am planning a hike soon and will see how they feel. I love the look of them, as well as the tread.

Been looking for a replacement pair of hiking boots and have come up short several other times. I do a lot of day hikes, some long and over rocks in Shenandoah NP which is close to me. Need room for custom orthotics, and this boot fits the bill perfectly. They are comfortable but give good support without being too stiff. Love them!

I have a wide foot and many women's shoes are tight in the toes. I ordered 3 different pairs and these fit just fine whereas the other two were tight. Tested them out yesterday on a great hike and they did well.

I have real issues with my feet going numb so I have to add extra padding to all my shoes. Bought these based on others reviews and I am so grateful. Can wear all day! I don't own a pair of shoes I can wear all day, so I am thrilled.

I love these boots. Just hiked over 20 miles over the last three days with no hotspots or problems. The added ankle support was great too. I did go one full size larger than my regular shoe, which made the size perfect for steep downhill hiking.

I had to get a .5 size larger. Check the eyelets before wearing for the first time. The first pair that I tried on had an eyelet that wasn't stitched properly. I decided that it was an isolated incident and bought them anyway but be sure you check the strength of all eyelets.

A few shades darker than the images online, which was nice, I thought they were going to be super light in color, but they're a little more tan/cream. A noticeable bit wider in the toe bed than the Merrell Moab Mid's I got, but it's not too much, my feet are not slapping around inside. Would be perfect with a second set of socks for chilly outdoor activities. I have graphite arch supports that I usually put in shoes and boots, but these Merrell's don't need it. The removable microbial-resist footbed is more than enough arch support for me. I wear these to work several times a week (with jeans) and my feet do not get overly warm during the day. The height of the high part around the ankle (I can't think of what that's called right now) is not too tall and it does not cut into my ankle or rub anywhere uncomfortably.

Very comfortable and warm from the first time I put them on. Didn't need to "break them in." My feet are a little wide but these shoes were comfortable with thicker socks. Lots of toe room.

These were my first hiking boots. I don't have much experience with other brands/models so I can't provide a thorough comparison. But I can honestly say that I was more than satisfied with how comfortable (didn't even need to break-in) and durable they were. I used these at Acadia National Park and they were awesome through easy and flat trails to even more difficult, climbing trails. I loved them and am so happy to have purchased these. I would highly recommend these to people who are looking for a promising and reasonably priced pair of hiking boots. One downfall (but I already knew when I purchased) is that they are not waterproof. Regardless, I love these and am more than pleasantly surprised with its overall performance. Also as a bonus factor, they are cuter in person and match with almost any type of outfit you have on.

I have a lot of trouble getting fit to shoes but I am very happy with the Moab Ventilater Mid. It is very light yet gives good support on the feet and ankles. With a little stretching, it is plenty wide enough. I waterproofed it manually and it is much cooler than the gore-tex version of this boot. It's true to size and rugged. It was the only shoe I wore for two weeks on a city and hiking trip to the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia--great on the beach, rugged trails, and in the city.
